I loved your demo of this fabulous trimmer. I have had a couple of other rotary trimmers before and did not like them because there was no guard to hold the paper in place and I got crooked cuts! I was sooo lucky to win one of Tim’s new trimmers from a draw on Jennifer McGuire’s TH-cam channel when she was introducing it a couple of months ago and I absolutely love it.

So glad I watched this. I already have a fiskars rotary trimmer. I wasn't sure if I needed this.

Love my fiskars trimmer. Thanks for the review, one is enough.

Thank you for this video. I was only getting rough cuts and was pretty disappointed. I didn't know to press down.

I use the fiskars trimmer and it works great.

I’d like to remove the guard that holds material down. Just remove the screws?

I've been trying to use this trimmer for a few months - I always get very rough cuts no matter what I do. I hate this trimmer

Tim Holtz advised not to press down, which gives a jagged cut, but to lightly press to the right so that the blade is swivelled toward the steel cutting edge. He demonstrates the hold clearly in a YT video in which he reviews all four of his Tonic Studio trimmers. I hope that helps it’s so disappointing to buy a tool and not enjoy using it.

What do you do if you don’t have a measurement. Let’s say you want to cut on a line. Or Let’s say you want to cut a tiny bit off the edge and don’t have a measurement.

If you want to cut on a line, you line it up with the cutting blade. There are 1/4" guides. If you want to cut less then you just eyeball it. As long as there is a straight line across the top, you should be able to get a straight line down your cut.

U never showed how to cut really thin paper or tissue paper - it’s a little tricky.

This trimmer is nearly useless over 6 inches. There is no backboard to rest against over 6 inches and you can't cut straight. Also, if you are doing mat board or medium or more chipboard, the trimmer moves so much you have to hold it down with your arms as you cut. $100.00. Fiskars is better.

If you have it butted against the edge (top or bottom), there is no need for that edge to extend past the 6”. Have had ZERO issues with it cutting thicker mediums. It is definitely not “useless”…..🙄
