@Mr Sir True, sorta. I bet you grew up during that era. I only grew up on reruns, epecially over the holidays. My stepdad even played reel to reels during everything..... house cleaning, wake up alarm etc. He even played old films like My fair lady, Hello Dolly, Sound of Music etc.... to bad ALL of them ended up in the Garbage dump. The day the state took him from his home, EVERYTHING was tossed in a bin and cleared his full 10 acres of everything he owned. By the time I found out, it was all gone. He even had original Star Trek and Star Wars toys, drawings, drafts etc signed by the original sketches of Star Wars. $$$$$$... poof!! He even lost a VW though it needed to be restored a bit, under 2k, its currently worth over 100k. A neighbor said it was the last thing removed.
They are literally history. They were alive in the 50’s. This is so mind boggling to me idk why 💀 (Edit: y’all I know I sound dumb, I made this comment in 8th grade STOP dragging me 💀✋🏾)
If you wanted to sing in the 1950s, you actually had to be able to sing. 1950s recording studios had one tape track, and if you were lucky, 4 or 5 microphones, and the musicians were there in the studio with you, playing while you sang.
Janet and i were born in 1946, and lemme tell ya, she was my first crush. My parents loved to watch the Lawrence Welk show, and I would be occupied with other things until I heard Welk say, "The Lennon Sisters..." I would watch them, but my eyes were mostly focused on Janet. My heart would beat faster whenever she was on screen. Ah, those were the days.
WOW WOW Just loves the Lennon sisters They still have such a beautiful voice I am a female born in 1944 I still listen to there songs I just love it 💖💖💖💖
I am pleased to say that as a teenager I got to meet the Lennon sisters. It was on the beach in San Diego. Coronado the Mike Douglas show was hosting the Navy and my father was captain of the local Naval Beach group and he was on the Mike Douglas show for that episode and I got to meet the Oak Ridge boys, the Lennon Sisters, Soupy Sails Jack Palance, Mike Douglas and his wonderful wife. Hope you remember what a wonderful day it was at the beach. 😊❤️😊🌸😊❤️🇺🇸
I met one of the sisters in Kailua-Kona Hawaii at the shop I was working at in the late 1990s. The Summer House. She was not at all like any other star I ever saw. We actually talked, I told her my parents always said they wanted us to act like them. We laughed. I thought after all those years of stardom the Lennon Sisters were not spoiled. How nice❤️
Back in the early 60s, my parents were members of the Lawrence Welk Fan Club in So Cal. Every year the club would have a picnic at a Hollywood park. I remember going to one of them as a pre-teen. I was "in love" with the youngest Lennon sister. As we sat on the lawn in the park we saw Alice Lawn and most of the others celebrities. Then I saw for a moment, the youngest sister: so beautiful. I never got over that. So cool. Thumb's UP.
The Lennon Sisters were the most Iconic Family Singers of the time period. Listening to them again today, brings back wonderful memories of the good times. The harmony of these 4 sisters is magical! I still love listening and watching them perform. Long Live the "LENNON Sisters"!
I don't know how it came up but my husband and I were talking about the Lawrence Welk Show and how it was a habit for our parents and grandparents when we were kids. And I remembered my favorites on the show were the Lennon Sisters. Love their harmonies!
Thank you so much for all the years of beautiful wholesome singing and not selling out to culture as it changed. You remained steadfast to the pure and beautiful. Grew up with you every Saturday!! God bless you always!!!! ❤❤❤❤
They also showed up on one of the "Country Music Family Reunion" series, the "Kinfolk" one. They weren't a "country music act" but they were welcomed because of their harmonizing sound. They still sounded as good as ever!
Like every girl the sisters ware part of our weekend it was a Saturday date with my mam those days long time ago are the memory's I treasure and the sisters are part of that Thank you so much
