I have been tirelessly searching for a guide like this! I bought the component and am comfortable with soldering, but micro soldering is tricky. Bravo!!
2:43 was the exact moment where I noped out - getting a bit fiddly for me and I'm not revealing that sensor to the world at large, I have specks of dust on my SLRs that have been haunting me for years despite several good cleans! But thanks for the video at least now I know how to open it that far. My mini USB port has disconnected and sits loose in its hole. Even if I manage to plug it in like this, it's not connecting so maybe I'll open it up now and see if something obviously looks like it should push back in. I damaged it by making a pass through hole for a cable to use it plugged in but...my over eager thumb pushed with too much force once the hole was big enough to let the cable head through. Thanks!
please can somebody explain what pins to use only for fpv, i need only for fpv ( video out) i dont need to charge or sound only video pins for fpv ? thanx.
it is not easy to solder all the pins back again. if you need the video out maybe take a look at an adapter called "SmartFPV GoPro". this adapter uses the expansion port of the gopro
Someone should be doing this and make a killing.... A new mother board from ifixit is $80... Charge half that for this fix and they would rake it in...
Hi. I show the different USB Ports here at 6:05. Yes the new USB Port is missing the AV-Out and Audio-In functions. But the most people don't need that at all. The thing is with the 10 pin USB it is harder to find and very hard to solder the small pins. And yes. It is not an easy solder job. You need experience in soldering. Risky? But what's the alternative? You can life without the port or buy a new GoPro. With this little repair you can load your batteries again and you can use the USB Port to copy your files to your computer.
well it would be to highlight and useful to say these things thank you! since the 10-pin usb port is very easy to find here the link www.amazon.it/gp/product/B071ZKY73J/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Where can I buy that usb piece?
on ebay e.g. - search for "usb mini pcb"
Will it work if I just don't attach the 10 pins? so like only the 4 mains on the sides? I just need it to charge, nothing else
The 4 mains on the sides are only ground. So you need to connect the positiv pin also. 6:09
I need to fix actual plug.2 of the wires came unsoldered and I don't know where they go to solder them back
Very big like . Thanks for sharing .

What’s bridging?
Connecting two parts that are not supposed to connect
Is there a way I can mail you my go pro and you can fix it?

the usb connector is not the same as the original, which has 10 pin !! so many functions are missing !! you risk burning it all! in video is dangerous
