"Ron, you're such a dummy!" Ron pulling big brother duty like a champ and playing it off like he's clueless. Epic.
«Severus... please» is so haunting.
I feel that Jim Broardbent, doesn't get quite enough credit for his portrayal of Professor Slughorn. He's such a great actor ❤
The casting in all of Harry Potter is just so wonderful. Except Dumbledore #2.
@@Robbo.312 Harry grout wasnt him, it was peter vaughan. if you mean slater from ofah then yeah that was jim broadbent.
I highly recommend checking him out in the wonderful 1990 Mike Leigh film "Life is Sweet."
I agree. Love his acting in this!He also does great in the small role of the professor in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
@@jovetj He’s a great actor. Just meme:d on for not being exactly like the previous version or the book version, and for that one scene. He’s still good.
Fun fact! The guy, Frenryr Greyback, a werewolf, was the guy that bit Lupin, making him a werewolf as well!
Also, Lupin was bitten when he was super young, like around 5-7 yrs old. His father was bringing out anti-werewolf stuff to the Ministry, and Fenrir, in retaliation, attacked Lupin. The Whomping Willow was placed at Hogwarts the year that Lupin went there so that he could have a safe place to transform. They thought that Lupin might not be able to attend Hogwarts, but Professor Dumbledore made allowances.
"This is so dangerous."
Is this your first day at Hogwarts?
What I like about HBP's potions book is the way Snape approached to learn potions discipline. He truly is interested in this area, how potions work and how to make them. So, he didn't just took instructions that was written in textbook as some sacred knowledge by some authority. He questioned it, analysed why it works that way, and experimented with ways to achieve better results. So he made notes in this textbook
Like our grandmother’s did in their recipe books. 🙂
Hermione and Harry's friendship is so lovely in this one. ❤
Snape is the son of a Pureblood witch - Eileen Prince who was dis-inherited because of marrying a Muggle Tobias Snape - Snape is literally a Halfblood and a Prince. Tobias Snape turned into a violent drunk after finding out his wife and son were magical, Eileen already too broken to defend herself or her son from her husband. In the book Harry tries the whole year to find out who the HalfBlood Prince is, he is fascinated by the brilliant potion prodigy who was already inventing his own spells at such a young age - btw there were other spells in the book that were not malicious so Harry had no idea Sctumsempra will turn so deadly.
Langlock is one of my favorite non-malicious spells that I wish we could've gotten in the movies.
I was really disappointed in the movie's omission of this information. It was literally the book's title. You'd think the movie would have included at least some of the reveals regarding Snape's backstory. This is one of the primary reasons that fans of this movie series should check out the books, too.
@@berniemargolis4288 Thats sadly the thing with movies, they cant cram all the information into a movie, i hope the future tv series will.
Ginny had a pygmy puff on her shoulder while on the train. She got it at her brothers' shop. Fred and George were financed by Harry, who gave them all of his winnings from the Tri-Wizard tournament.
His name is Arnold. 😊
A little part of the story i love that is not covered in the movies is that Hagrid could very easily be wealthy. In Hagrids Hut, Slughorn notices heaps of rare items that Hagrid has. His love for magical creatures and his unique position has allowed him to collect heaps of unicorn tail hairs that have been pulled out when their hair snags on a tree branch etc. He could sell them for a pretty penny but he uses them to bind bandages to injured creatures
It's egregious that they barely touched on the half-blood Prince mystery in the movie, it was a recurring story point in the book.
People who only watched the movies heard Snape's revelation at the end and thought "Uh, okay"
Exactly. After all those movies with great plot twists there's this reveal and I'm like "...and?"
I've only seen the film once, or to be honest it's possible I've only watched through a bunch of TH-cam clips of it once, I don't recall. I assumed not showing the rest of the Prince mystery was just because of the reaction edit, just mentioning that at the end is idiotic.
Although the Prince stuff is still second on my wish list after a 5 minute "The Other Minister" scene :P
@@jerodast It would be cool if, in the upcoming series, they actually got a real former prime minister to do that scene. Lord knows there are enough of them around.
@@johnalden5821 that would be really good. it wouldn't have the same impact for me if they did it when I was younger, though. now I know that politicians ain't sh1t...
I think if i remember the reason he's the "Half Blood Prince" is because his mother's maiden name was "Prince," not a literal prince
Yes, his mother's maiden was Prince and his father was a muggle, making Snape a half blood Prince.
I love how you really see the trio becoming young adults at this point. They were already heading towards that direction and I think sirius Dying was the final turning point
I really love the turn the movies start to take the further you get in the series. Like you said - you see the development of these 3 and it just get more dark and interesting the further you get into the movies
Spoiler: Harry has yet another terrible year at Hogwarts.
Dude. I just started the books. You’re seriously telling me that EVERY year something goes wrong!? He doesn’t just have a year of electives for fun?
@@EmoDragracer😂
@EvanDeitrich9
Me: gasps theatrically. 🤣
@ actually Harry has a lot of fun at Hogwarts. The movies make things darker and grimmer than necessary, they cut out a lot of the fun. They also gloss over some of the worst too, which is interesting. They're HP abridged, at best
@@EmoDragracerWell, there's the year when he discovers drugs and is high all the time.

@@scottythedawg Chandra: I love all my fans.
The fans: .... oh crap!
....and yet its ridiculous that this doesn't even happen in the book. Its entirely invented for the film. I wouldn't mind except for all the stuff they cut to make room for that whole scene.
@@TheMarcHicks And they don't even do anything with it. They burn the burrow and then move on. They don't talk about it or make reference to it ever again.
You will see when you read the books, but Ginny Weasley gets the short end of the stick here.
In the books she is a powerful witch, a star quiditch player, and one of the best students. Harry is lucky to be with her, not the other way around.
The screenwriter was so busy giving Hermione everyone else's accomplishments that he didnt have time to give Ginny her due.
Also, Harry wasnt acting drunk, Daniel Radcliffe was actually drunk in those scenes.
In the book, there is a touching scene near the end, where Ginny tells Harry how she had never stopped caring for him ever since her first year, when he saved her life. Over the years, she had learned to go on, dated other boys and tried (with Hermione's advice) to not appear needy around him. Then, when she and Harry had finally gotten together, they were forced apart again. Harry unwillingly broke up with her to protect her, because he knew Voldemort would torture her to get at Harry if he knew they were a couple. All this added depth to Ginny's character in the books -- but the movies did not have the bandwidth to fill out her full character.
I hate book Ginny. I think she’s more insecure and a girl with serious anger management issues and behaves as a bully too.
I think she is lucky to be with Harry.
I give you so much credit for realizing Dumbledore had actually died. Most people reacting to this are in total denial and feel confident Dumbledore will be instantly brought back to life, but that is ignoring the central story that the only one who ever survived the killing curse was Harry himself. Yes, the movies get darker and darker with so many painful losses, but you will be so glad in the end that you took this tumultuous ride, I promise!!
They make a point of Harry crying over his dead body, usually that satisfies the "he's not dead unless you see the corpse" requirement.
Easy butterbeer recipe. Can off cream soda, two tablespoons of caramel sauce/syrup, whipped cream (optional)
I did a similar recipe back before the theme park produced drinks. Though instead of caramel sauce, it was butterscotch flavoring. The family loved it.
The books got longer and darker as the series went along. Rowling was smart to age up the books as her primary audience aged. I think that’s why they resonated with kids so much.
You're pumping these out crazy! Can't wait to watch this one tonight at work
She is enjoying this series so much. I’m looking forward to her seeing how this all plays out till the end.
Professor Slughorn collecting: he has a knack for identifying students who will achieve or attain high or famous positions after school. He befriends them by inviting them to join the “Slug-Club” which also foster networking.
Yeah there were only really 2 clues that Snape was the Half-Blood Prince:
1) He was the Potions Professor up until this year
2) He knew how to heal Draco after Harry cast Sectumsempra
Can't wait for you to see the next one! And as others have said, there are so many more details in the books.
Dumbledore is (was) the most powerful wizard of all time and also known as "The only one he (Voldemort) ever feared". But he was heavily weakened by the potion on the tower this night...
I love how you unintentionally quoted the start of the 7th film by yourself at 44:08 with the exact words it starts :D
Harry financed the Weasley shop from his Tri-Wizard Cup winnings.
Love your reactions, can’t wait for next one!
Harry got a thousand galleons for winning the Triwizard Cup. He gave the money to the twins.
Yes, and the only reason he "had to", was because they bet with the (cut from the movie) presenter of the triwizard turnament, Ludo Bagman. At the Quidditch world cup. They predicted the correct ending of the match, but he scammed them and took all their money, also they were minors and not allowed to bet at all. After Fred and George blackmailed Bagman for a whole year, Harry gave them his prize money.
And when the Awful Umbridge was Headmaster, they bunked the school and set up shop.
@@couch.patati-patata Well to be fair...they only skipped the last few weeks or 2 month
Ah, thanks. I forgot that. I was trying to figure out where two very young men who grew up with hand-me down robes came up with the capital to start a small business like that!
@@thomasnieswandt8805 Didn't Ludo Bagman pay them in the end, and it turned out to be leprechaun gold he'd got during the World cup i.e. not real, and it changed from gold after he'd run off again. So Harry offered his winnings from the cup, since the victory meant nothing to him with Cedric dead and Voldemort back. They began investing the funds, doing deals for supplies etc. in prep for making their shop. So when they were fed up with Umbridge towards the end of next year, they had enough supplies and money stashed away to start business, hence why Harry gets things free in their shop (or at a heavy discount, I forget).
Your reactions are amazing!!!
‘Oh to be young and feel loves keen sting!’
That line and Trelawney's line to Hermione about her heart being as shriveled as an old maid kills me every time!!
@@jamiewilson9280 Won Won said her name twice just to make sure.
32:05 I was always fascinated with this healing spell Snape uses to heal Draco, "Vulnera Sanentur". I like Snape a lot.
a lot of people say that the prisoner of azkaban is their favorite movie and i understand that, but this movie just has something special about it for me. its like the culmination of everything weve seen in the previous movies, theres so many plots, its silly, its dark, its everything, and the ending.. after this its a totally different last 2 movies but this is like the peak for me.
Hey Chandra, another great reaction! 😊 I shed a few tears watching Dumbledore's death in the movie. I did most of my crying when I read the book before watching the movie. Man, I couldn't stop because I really liked Dumbledore, plus the thought of Harry losing another father figure, or maybe granfather figure, but u know what I mean.
Snape is not royalty, as far as we know.😊 His mother was a pure-blood witch w/the surname Prince & his father was a muggle which makes him a half-blood, like Harry in a way.
This is a basic status breakdown:
Pure-Blood- Inbred, cousins marrying cousins who are also Pure-bloods. This practice went on for hundreds of years.(Think of the Hapsberg family in europe who married that way for 400yrs & ended up w/severe birth defects.) They even have a list called the Sacred 28 which has 28 of the purist wizarding families in the U.K., but the list was biased. Harry's father was a Pure-blood, but the Potter name was omitted from the list. Several names u would recognize on the list are Black, Crabbe, Goyle, Abbott (which is the last name of girl sorted into Hufflepuff in the 1st movie), MacMillan, Malfoy, Longbottom & Weasley. Ok, let's move on.
Half-blood- A witch/wizard can be a Half-blood in a few ways. A Pure-blood has a child w/a Muggle, Muggle-born or a Half-blood, or a Half-blood has a child w/a Muggle, Muggle-born or another Halfblood. 2 examples of children born of Pure-bloods w/Muggles are Tom Marvolo Riddle & Severus Snape. Harry is an example of a Pure-blood wizard w/a Muggle-born witch. "Tonks", Nymphadora Tonks, the woman in the Order of the Phoenix that can change her appearance is also a Half-blood because her mother is a pure-blood witch of the Black family & her father is a Muggle-born wizard, at least I think he was.
Muggle-born- Are those born to muggles, but the child has magic, like Lily Potter, nee Evans, & Hermione. It is believed by some that this happens because the magic lay dormant, & pops up again down the family line. More than likely they are the descendant of a Squib.
Squib- Someone born to magical parents, but has very little to no magic. Most Squibs leave the wizarding world because they often feel or are made to feel that they don't belong. When Draco got caught by Mr. Filch trying to "crash" Slughorn's Christmas Party, u can hear Draco call him a "filthy Squib". When Squibs are born into Pure-blood families they are seen as an embaressment/mark of shame & are cast out. It is believed that Squibs are a possible side effect to all that inbreeding.
I think that's about all I have to discuss. Can't wait for your reaction to the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 & 2.😊
I may be wrong (and if I am, I’m sure it will be pointed out), but if I remember the books right, “Prince” was a family name for Snape. Like his mother’s last name or something. That’s partly how he came up with the Half Blood Prince nickname.
Correct, his mother's maiden surname. His father, Tobias Snape, was a muggle - so Severus is a half-blood and a "Prince".
Definitely near the end!
The filmmakers pissed me off a bit with this one. There's one obvious question that they completely ignored: how is Snape a "Half-blood Prince"? It's explained in the book that his mother was a witch whose maiden name was Prince, but his father was a Muggle. I used to work with a young woman who was a big fan of the movies, but hadn't read any of the books. We spent a lot of time during our shifts talking about the differences between the books and the movies. Most of the things I told her about, she was like, "well, that would have been nice to know". Like the fact that "Messrs. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs" (The Marauders) were Lupin, Pettigrew, Sirius and James Potter.
Doesn't Voldemort call him Wormtail quite a number of times? Did that not make it into the films either?
@@jerodast No, that did make it into the film, but not until Goblet of Fire.
@@jerodastyeah he does call him wormtail in the movies. And Harry calls Sirius as Padfoot in the 5th movie. When he’s telling Snape that Sirius has been captured by Voldemort, he says they’ve got padfoot at the place where it’s hidden.
Moony is pretty self explanatory. I think knowing from Voldemort calling Peter Wormtail and Harry calling Sirius Padfoot, it’s not that hard to predict who moony and prongs are.
They did Ginny so dirty too in the movies and the whole Harry/Ginny relationship (wich was awesome in the books and made a lot of sense as well)
As always with adaptations: When you complain that the "wrong" parts were cut, you also have to say which scenes to cut from the film to make room for the ones you want to have. And how your choice would have served the story better. Films can only be so long if you want people to watch it. And every additional place or character costs a shitload of money down the line. Even the series format reboot will cut a lot of stuff because it's just too expensive and doesn't serve the story.
The Halfblood Prince plot did not really serve the story besides a bit of characterisation for Snape that ultimately never really went anywhere. The same is true for some parts of Voldemort's backstory. All the teenage romance in the film or the attack on the burrow were poor choices for sure, but even if we cut all that, it would have still been hard to put all the fan service in.
Fenrir Greyback is a notoriously savage werewolf. He enjoys placing himself in near proximity to children just before a full moon. He is the werewolf who purposely bit Remus Lupin when Remus was a child.
Correction. Greyback is not a Deatheater. As a Werewolf, he is a halfbreed and not allowed to be a deatheater. He is allowed to be around, because he is a canibale and likes to kill people for fun. They like that.
@@danaclinton7105 he's not high ranking. He's a half breed whom they keep around for threatening people.
@@thomasnieswandt8805 Well, he kinda is a useful tool for the deatheaters and that's what they like.
I won’t spoil till you find out for yourself what dumblebore saw but to put it without spoilers he essentially was forced to relive the worst mistake he ever made over and over in his head begging to die in place of someone else
Buckle up! The next one is my favourite.

She doesn`t seem to need them :)
I remember it taking book readers about five seconds to figure out who RAB is. The book came out in 2005, and there were many Harry Potter websites and wikis out there by then.
this movie focused a bit more on the teen love issues and less on them trying to figure out who the half-blood prince is, so it kind of got relegated to the background.
If at least they would have cut the Halfblood Prince subplot entirely. But no, they wanted that half-baked reveal to please the book readers while not working the actual mystery into the film. It‘s not just the weird focus on the romance, this film is all over the place. 😅
@@Sobsilus Well if they would have cut the remaining 2% of the Halfblood Prince plot they must have been naming the movie "Harry Potter and the Teen Love Stories". To be fair the book also puts a higher focus on romance than any other, but the book did it so much better. And still with this focus on teeny issues, the Ginny in the movies and her story with Harry are so incredibly weak compared to the books. It is sad!
@@MotU_Shosha Yeah the romance subplot was done SO MUCH BETTER in the book.. it really seemed like a random thing they decided to throw in during a 5 minute brainstorm the way its treated in the movie i really hate how badly treated both this and the next two movies are.. so many good buildups and payoffs just rewritten as "meh it just happened because reasons" cause the movie script writers were about par with the script writers of game of thrones season 8
@@kmortensen9312 Now now let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Season 8 of GoT is another thing entirely. Although I suppose without the HP books the last movies might’ve been on par with it actually. Dang
@@MrZeuz666 I was feeling a bit cheeky and being a bit hyperbolic but yeah i guess you might be right that what i said may be more true than i thought myself given that they had the source material and not just a napkin with 5 lines saying who should be where by the end of the story which is more or less what happend with GoT :D
Snape's mother's maiden name was Prince, that's where the name "Half-Blood Prince" comes from
Harry gave the Weasley twins money to start up their shop.
Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was 15 months old, Cedric Diggory at the ratty (pun fully intended) hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying at the hands of his psychotic cousin Bellatrix Lestrange before he disappeared into the Veil in the Ministry Of Magic. Also, this is one of the few times Ron is shown to be intelligent in the movies. The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry, specifically. The wizard's chess scenes from Philosopher's Stone is another. I think another good example is the good questions he was asking in Chamber Of Secrets when Harry found that crumpled up book page in Hermione's hand.
Ron being turned into "the dumb friend" while giving lines that explain the universe to Hermione is one of worst bits of the movies, because she couldnt have known about them due to being muggle-born ... to elevate the girl. #misandry
@Muck006 It's explained in-universe, that Hermione reads a lot, so she learned about wizarding history that way. Anyone who's confused about that part of the canon lore should remember that little tidbit of knowledge.
In the books, Harry technically won the tri-wizard tournament in the goblet of fire and won a big “cash” prize, and he just gives it to Fred and George because he doesn’t want it. And then Fred and George open their own shop with it!
A few of my friends have a theory that the "potion" that Dumbledore drank to get the locket was liquefied and concentrated dementor
I listened to the audio version of this book for some reason. I was at my son's soccer game when the ending came on. There I was standing on the sidelines, crying my ass off.
Daniel Radcliffe's acting and humour is brilliant in this film.
the best behind the scene i've seen for this movie is during the kissing scene at 21min ish,. where during the kiss potter yells cut, so ron has to kiss her again,. he just looks like a major troll there
“We haven’t meet a prince yet”
Well 😅 “I’m the half-blood prince”
Tom Riddle has the Ring of his Slytherin family tree. He likely already made a Horcrux before asking Slughorn about it. He didn't need the information from his teacher, he just needed to guilt trip him into not telling to anybody else because he knew that Slughorn would eventually figure it out and tell Dumbledore about it.
The book gives much more information and more Pensieve scenes. It's amazing that you could figure out so much on your own !
If you think Ginny is a badass character, she's ten times better in the book. Movies made her blend and uninteresting.
The potion in the cave is the potion of Despair, it makes you relive the worse moments of your life.
" I love Lupin SOOO much"......😳🥺
Always excited to watch another of your reactions. Thanks!
I worked at a bookstore when the Half Blood Prince came out and ended up with an autographed copy of the book. Waiting for the right moment to sell it. 😅
Woo! My favorite!
6:00 This line "I have deceived one of the greatest wizards of all time." is genius. Does he mean he's deceived Dumbledore or Voldemort? Could be either one.
The whole burning down the Weasley's house didn't happen in the book. The movie writers just wanted to add some action to a pretty subdued movie.
I wish they might have shown a "Dumbledore's Funeral" scene, but I realiz if it was at all faithful to the booo, it would have tripled the effects budget.
“They’re eating dragon?”
If dragons are like dinosaurs, and birds are descended from dinosaurs, they are basically eating chicken. 😂
Thank you for another pleasant reaction.
Thank you for your reaction. Imagine reading the books as they came out and having to wait a year or more for the last book! In the book there is a funeral for Dumbledore, so you know that he is really dead, but hope for some kind of return anyway. What is missing in the last two movies is a lot more of Snape's story which is only partially told. How could he have fooled Dumbledore? Was he really evil? Get ready for a lot of suspense and emotion in the last two movies. Really great reaction, by the way. I actually cried when I read that Snape used the curse on Dumbledore. I had to put the book down for a while.
Another one down and two to go. Enjoy watching the series with you. Stay safe.
Hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤️
One thing a lot of people miss, and why Hermione struggled with potions this year. Snape always wrote the directions on the blackboard, as his directions were better than the books. She didnt have him giving instructions this year but Harry did via the HBP. So Harry was the only one that starred in the class since he had Snape writing out different directions this year still. Snape is a true potions master.
Love the observation these are "cozy", I feel the same way, but more for the books. To me Diagon Alley in book 1 might be the coziest book chapter ever, just the feeling of magic all around, and any time they're at Hogwarts dealing with something the evil plot of the year, it's very cozy. With the books of course you can slowly go through several cozy chapters and time the less cozy parts for when you're in the mood of course :)
It's rare for this series of films to actually add value compared to the books, but that vertical shot up the Burrow was really cool, forgot about that!
37:59 That's what she said... 😁
21:04 - Chandra asking the real questions 😁
In the book, they go way deeper explaining the book Harry has. It is filled with lots of spells and details that doesn't show in the movie.
That jumpscare in the cave also got me and my friend when we watched that movie in the cinema and we knew what will happen. She said to me seconds before "There is going to come a hand out of the water" ans still we both screamed with everybody else ;)
Like all the other movies this one has it's good moments and some things are looking very well, but I still have to say, that this is definitely the worst of all movies. It's name is "Half-Blood Prince" but the "Prince" is barely touched. And while so many other important things are changed or just not shown at all they took the time to put in a scene that never happened in the book. In the book the deatheaters never attacked the Weasley house when they visited for christmas and I can't understand why they made this scene.
And while they wasted time with this battle scene they did not even had 30 seconds for a little introduction of Fenrir Greyback. They just show him multiple times, but without knowledge from the books you don't know who he is, how dangerous he is and why. They should have Lupin tell Harry about Greyback instead of that stupid attack. And if they desperately wanted to include a fighting scene into the movie, they could just have shown the battle against the deatheaters in Hogwarts, that actually happened in the books, because Dumbledore in the book did not left Hogwarts without protection as he seems to do in the movie.
That stupid scene of the attack and the burrow burning is a pet peeve of mine. I’m convinced they put it in there just to give Helena Bonham Carter more screen time. A waste of time when there were actual plot points they could have been explaining.
@@brendafrazier811 And even then it was a stupid decision. During the infiltration of Hogwarts the actress could have gotten way more screentime than in that scene.
I read this, and had to wait over a year for Rowling to finnish and publish the last book. As you can imagine, I reread the books again and again, trying to make sense, and I almost got it, but not fully though😅. One thing the movies capture very well, is the hint of Dumbledores power. He never really goes full force does he, but we see the hints of it, and our imagination fills in just how powerful he must be😊
This one is heartbreaking, Chandra ... and I'm sure you've guessed that it's not going to suddenly become sweetness and light in the final two films! You would love the books, with so much more to them, so I hope you read them. Another great reaction, thank you - love how much attention to detail you pay!
Ive been waiting for this. Thank you
This is one of my favorites out of the series, DH 2 is probably the other. I wish, though, that they would have included more of the Half - Blood Prince stuff like some other commentors have said. I also wish they would have included more Tom memories. There was so much more of those meetings with Dumbledore, learning more about Voldemort. They talk of his history - his mother fell in love with a muggle aristocrat from the city and used a love potion on him. She became pregnant and thought that by now, surely, the muggle would be in love with her. So she stopped giving him the potion.
He abandoned her and heartbroken, she gave birth in an orphanage and passed away. Because Tom was conceived under the effects of a love potion, he lacks empathy. He is basically the wizard version of a psychopath/sociopath. He can't feel love, or shame or regret.
They changed a lot in the 6th movie then the 5th movie
Ooh... I have to step in and say. Standing up from at the table when somebody we (ought to) respect comes up is just a polite thing to do; not "old fashioned polite", simply polite.
6:25 oh boy. If you’re disappointed now, can’t wait to see how you feel at the end.
30:00 I like your deadpan, “No”.
35:55 well done. A lot of people forget about that until Dumbledore mentions it
39:41 wrong movie franchise…this is Harry Potter not Star Wars 😉
42:52 the denial is strong
43:43 was looking forward to your reaction to this reveal.
Great movie. Enjoyed your reaction as usual.
Snapes' mother's maiden name is Prince.
The prince's tale in Deathly Hallows 2 is gonna hit like freakin crack
I remember from the book the things in the water in the cave are inferi they are some of Voldemorts victims brought back to life to serve as guardians for the Horcrux
Tonks is Sirius Black’s cousin and Remus Lupin’s wife.
Snape is not a prince. HBP is his cool nickname.
So, basically, there was a school feud of cool nicknamed kids: Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail and Prongs agaist their arch enemy, the Half-Blood Prince 😅
That whole thing with the Death Eaters showing up at the Weasleys is 100% an invention for the film. Which is something I really hate when books are adapted to the screen. Cutting things out for time is one thing, but adding stuff that wasn't in the original material just grinds my gears.
I wouldn't mind adding if they weren't also cutting out a) essential plot points and b) better material from the books. I would trade the Burrow attack for 5 minutes of "The Other Minister" in a heartbeat. But The Other Minister is politicians talking while the Burrow attack is flashy spells so gosh I wonder which idea will end up in the movie.
@@jerodast I agree with you 100%. Adding extra material into the film isn't the biggest sin, but it is when its at the expense of all the time the book spent developing the twin mysteries of both the Half-Blood Prince and Tom Riddle's past.
@@jerodastyeah, they should’ve done battle of the astronomy tower and showed in full Snape dominating Harry and then buckbeak coming to save him instead of the burrow scene imo.
There is a song in this movie, called "In Noctem". We saw only part of it, but there is a full video on youtube. I suggest you watch the video and listen to it after you are done with all the movies. Don't watch it before, it contains spoilers (and if you won't notice them, comments will definitely spoil a lot). But after the movies, it's so, so much worth watching and listening to it.
I love In Noctem. I sometimes put it on in the car and then my friends are like “why are we listening to this put something faster” and Im like “nope we shall listen”.
My favorite HP movie
The books are fantastic by the way. The audiobooks are pretty good as well.
Snape is a Half Blood Prince, because his Dad's last name is Prince, and one of his parents is a Muggle, I don't remember which one, thus he is a Half Blood Prince.
One thing that can be said about this series of flicks... they didn't just remake the same one again and again for fan service.
Draught of the Living Death wouldn't kill em all, but movie's gotta do what it's gotta do :) It's an exceptionally powerful sleeping potion, it's not deadly. Unless, you screw it up, ofc.

You can die from drinking too much water (and not going on the toilet).
I mean it is called LIVING death. Did the film say it kills people??
@@jerodast I believe it did. 12:57 "I dare say one drop would kill us all."
aaAAWwwwwa...what about Ron?....(Slughorn)"Good to see you Wallenbe"😆
"He was cast so well" = "this kid is creepy as f***" haha
"Dumbledore is so eerie now." Yeah it's kind of like the actor isn't capable of portraying the warmth and playfulness Dumbledore used to have while still doing narratively important and dramatic scenes.
That "Divine Magic" poster ad at the train station in the beginning is real and just happened to be there at the time of shooting the scene, so they decided to used it as a bit of pun.
The bridge which got destroyed in the opening scene is also real (still standing, just to make that clear), but I'm sure that's much more widely known.
They actually toned Sectumsempra down for the movie. In the books it's a lot more brutal.
This is imo my favorite hp movie
It's well worth reading the books, or listening to them on Audible like I do. After the second book the movies cut out a good 50-70% of each book. The movies are basically just Harry Potter abridged.
28:49: "I can't believe it's legal to make love potions."
There's a LOT of debate in the fandom about where love potions do, and should, fit. Because, really, they're essentially magical date-r**e drugs. A bit cut from the film, but present in the novel, reveals that Voldemort's mother used a love potion on a Muggle she had a crush on, kept him dosed with it long enough to conceive Tom. While pregnant, she stopped giving him the potion, hoping he'd grown to love her for real. . . and he ran the hell away from the crazy woman who'd violated him mentally, emotionally, and physically. And she died shortly after giving birth to the baby who would become Voldemort. So, all mild teen sex comedy stuff is counterpointed with a very tragic example of how these things can be misused, opening the question of if they can ONLY be misused.
Snape is as much a prince as Tom Riddle is a Lord there just basically names they came up with when they were kids
Snape is a descendant of the Prince family. Read.
@@jerodast yes its a maiden name
@@pmh2390 He’s as much a Prince as Tom Riddle is a Gaunt.
In Nordic mythology Fenrir/Fenris is a great wolf who is the son of Loki and a giantess.
Thank you, I didn't know that.
@@DanielaDormiaru-ih9xf You're welcome. Look up the story. It's a great story of the gods chaining (or attempting to chain) Fenrir.
My Favorite one
If you notice when snake cast Honda motor it's blue not green
They also for some reason cut practically all of Voldemort’s backstory because ya know that’s ’not’ important in the slightest oh wait…
