  • Curt is in the testing dept to 4L80E Differences between Early and Late models. He's using some 4L80E cores to show the external differences between the early and late models.
The early models with a year range of 1990-97 had coolant line fittings that are close to each other. Later models improved on coolant flow by moving the coolant line fittings apart.
The early model case does not have a top bolt hole which will bolt up to 5.7 to 350 engines. Later models featured a top bolt hole to bolt up to LS engines.
Early models also have a short linkage shaft and the NSS was in the shift console while the later 4l80's had a NSS on the transmission and a longer linkage shaft.

kodiakcopilot it’ll be fine. Trust me unless you overload that fucker dead heavy daily you won’t have issues just keep everything taken care of and drain the fluid every 70k to 100k

Since this will be a 4x4 Conversion we suggest you reach out to AdvancedAdapters.com at 800-305-2223 they specialize in all 4x4 conversions and will be able to set you up with perfect Adapter Kit. If you want to run the 4l80E you will also either need a Stand Alone controller like a Compushift controller I will send the link below or you can make it a Full Manual Valvebody which would be like a Stick shift with out the Clutch. Thank you for choosing Monster Transmissions.

Is there a wiring harness upgrade/retrofit for my 91 Dually? My 4l80e is losing speed sensor signal and going into 1st gear only. Thinking my wiring is messed up. Fluid is red and fresh. 116,k miles. Pulls great when it’s working right. You mentioned my wiring is no longer available.

    • @MonsterTransmission
