i sure hope bruce'll do the same for lou cohan and ken viola for the original first fanzine "thunder road" if/when we lose either one and the band is still touring. RIP charles. sure glad we got to catch up a couple of years ago. only other music heads understand how, from a young age, it takes over your life and becomes the center of your world. you were most definitely one of them.
He was the editor of Backstreets Magazine, a Bruce fanzine that he started when he was, I think, still in college. It was considered by many to be the best written and produced fanzine around, and it lasted much longer than most fanzines. It was a lifeline for many of us Brucefans in the (relatively) early days, before the internet. He went on to write critically acclaimed biographies, including the definitive bio of Kurt Cobain, and he was a big champion of the Seattle scene. He occasionally pissed Bruce off, though, because he was unafraid to be critical when he felt it was appropriate, as a good journalist ishould be. I never met the man, though I exchanged a few emails with him following concerts, but his death feels like the end of an era for some of us. Hard to explain. But my Bruce fandom was very tied into Backstreets, the magazine made me feel less alone, as I didn't know any Bruce fans. I just ust knew "of" them--usually kids a few years older who found me impossibly uncool. Thank you, Charley, and Cheers, as you used to write!
@@ReynoldsHill thank you. I can relate to your isolation, as l am a new fan of less than a year despite my advanced years. Everyone who knows me thinks l am mad to suddenly be interested in Bruce, after listening to classical music for 50 years!
He would have been so honored by this … good job
So good he remember Charles Cross❤
What an honour, rest in peace Charles.
Thank You Charley!
Thank You Bruce!
Until it ends
Rest in peace Charles ❤

Thank you! This is so much better than being there, unless you are lucky enough to be in the pit!!
No.. it’s better live! But great to relive it!
Went to this show too. Thanks for sharing.

Steve Van Zandt always looking like he's ready to tear someone's head off😂

I sang this song at an open mic in Charley's memory the night I heard he passed away. th-cam.com/video/dTZUHg1gkEw/w-d-xo.html
I’m sorry that l do not know who Charles Cross was. I live in the U.K. I know Bruce is very loyal to his friends. ❤
