In which I continue my return trip to Middlewich but then do a 90 degree right turn onto the Middlewich branch of the Shropshire Union canal, get some fuel and fenders from a fuelboat, go all the way along to Barbridge and turn left onto the Shroppie, and past the entrance to the Llangollen canal.

I was laughing hard enough to cough with that Rocky Horror Picture Show reference!
The second you said "It's just a swing to the left...", I was thinking of that song/scene, then you went on with exactly what I was thinking of and I just cracked up. And the fact that you said it so dryly made it all the funnier! XD

Just came across this - how have I not seen these videos before? Thank you for taking us along...do you boat solo? The locks are a bit of a challenge by yourself, I would imagine.
My wife and I did the Four Counties Ring in 2001. She was three months pregnant and had morning sickness at the time, needless to say I enjoyed the boat more than she did! This stretch on the Middlewich Branch was quite beautiful as I recall, and I think you captured that very nicely. The locks were notably deep, although I don't recall lockkeepers at Cholmondeston. I also enjoyed the railway bridge we crossed under somewhere on this branch (got scared when a train passed overhead at somewhere around 100mph faster than my speed at the time!) I would love to do that trip again, maybe 2018!

It was good to be reminded of the Rocky Horror Picture Shoe. In the early 70s I was just starting a career in the film and TV industry and I had the job of edge numbering each day's rushes (dailies) from the studio. Every foot of the film (and the sound on 35mm audio tape) had to be sequentially numbered on an archaic printing machine and then I drove the rushes from London to Bray studios in my venerable Wolseley 1500. The excess cash from my mileage claim was usually spent on running repairs for the car.

Wow! I can't believe I've watched a hundred of your videos along with the Exploring Alternatives and the News item. In fact some of them I've watched twice. During that time I've hired 3 NBs and booked a build slot with Aintree Boats. So a huge thank you for giving me the confidence to follow my dream. I was on the Leeds and Liverpool canal last week and that ledge below the waterline on the siding is really annoying and I'm positive it damages boats, I could have done with very long fenders! Also the problems mooring due to shallow water are a nuisance. I wonder how much of the towpath can't be used for mooring because of silt , too much I think! Thanks again, I love your videos.

I moved abroad over 20 years ago and enjoy watching your videos as they are both relaxing and bring back great memories of canal boat holidays with my parents as a kid... luckily there are nearly another 200 videos before I catch up to your 'present' - looking forward to them all.

A fuel boat?! How cool is that! Making a living while cruising the cut. Someone should start a floating barber boat. And a floating ice cream boat.

Yes I saw the floating ice cream boat at Stratford this year. Didn't buy an ice cream but from the look of the crowd I'd say he was doing ok.

Dwight Turner there *is* a floating barber. I saw on the BBC, I specifically took notice because I have a long haired friend who lives on a boat, he always said “I’ll have my hair cut when the barber visits me” . If I remember correctly m the floating barber is in London.

Absolutely glorious #100! Congratulations and please do keep us along for your adventures...I love seeing the world thru your lens. Since a "Lamentation of Swans" is already taken, perhaps a "Plethora of (yogurt) pots" ? Thank you for making these vlogs and if it takes a whole other year to see you thru Llangollan it will be a pleasant year indeed. Cheers!

Well done on your 100th, binge watched the first 60 odd episodes great stuff, the collective noun for GRP cruisers is a laminate

Collective noun for a bunch of GRP cruisers is probably a grapple.
