Kudos to you Theresa for perservering with your silk velvet dress. When you pulled that wodge of fabric out of your serger I though "wow, even your machines aren't safe from this silk nightmare!" 🤪😂
Wow, Theresa, you have such grit and determination! Full marks for keeping going with your dress! Your cookies all look wonderful too. Thanks for your videos this year, all of them and have a great Christmas and New Year xx
Your batch of cookies look great Teresa. I felt so bad for you while sewing, I wish I could have been there to help you unpick and sort your serger out. I can’t wait to see your dress finished.
I’m so enjoying your Christmas Day dress construction! I’ve also started a brand new list - fabrics to not seek out and silk velvet is the first entry 🤣
I love your video Theresa and you have encountered a lot of problems with your sewing and yet you still kept upbeat and continued. Your dress looks great and I can't wait for the big reveal x
Good job overcoming all the challenges! I wonder if fabric glue sticks would work on that fabric? I was just thinking of the zipper and hem. The narrow one used to put in labels could be a game changer. The shop windows were very festive. Some people are so imaginative and talented.
I wondered that, too. It's hard to test because small swatches sew very differently. It also seems to depend on the direction of the nap. We do our best!!
Snowballs are my most favorite cookie ever. I was drooling when you tasted yours. I am wondering if you are going to love that green silk velvet dress or hate it. You have convinced me that I never want to try sewing with it. Dare I ask? Is your sewing machine as messed up as your serger was? That is some wicked fabric. Burns your fingers, sheds all over the floor, jams up your serger and slides all over the place. But is it so pretty.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Theresa, I have thoroughly enjoyed your vlogmas about your cooking and sewing journey. I have also loved seeing your film of the streets and shops of London. So a very big THANK YOU. 🥰 It is super hot here at present which means I am very thankful for air conditioning in the lead up to Christmas. I am so glad you are happy with your velvet dress fitting and I look forward to seeing the final product. Wishing you a blessed Christmas. 🌸
While you were hand basting your zipper in, I was reminded of taping my zippers in with scotch tape way back when! It might well have been way before your “time”! It would never work with heavier fabric like what you’re using, but it was a memory! God bless you for your patience!
Hi Theresa. I like to catch up on videos when I'm sewing, but I also like to comment to let people know that I have visited their channel! When I really want to concentrate I will put on a podcast.
If you subscribe to Craftsy you might find one of his videos there, otherwise do a search. Also, some issues of Threads magazine will have articles on tricks to sew with difficult fabrics.
I made snowball cookies for the first time today... before your video popped up! 😂 I wish I'd thought of using chai spices!! 🥰 I used the recipe from a Betty Crocker cookbook (my cooking and baking Bible, lol). It did not call for me to chill the dough, and the cookies stayed in the shape of balls. I'm not much help, but thought I would share my experience. Maybe my recipe had different ingredient ratios. 1 c butter 1/2 c powdered sugar 2-1/4 c flour 3/4 c finely chopped nuts (I used pecans.) 1/2 t vanilla 1/4t salt 400°F for 10-12 minutes.
You would have probably been happier with your zipper if you had hand picked it. That is not hard to do and gives beautiful results. I kept trying to message you telepathically as I watched you struggle. You have more patience than I have.
Oh man, I wish I had done it, but I was worried about time. I thought hand basting would do the trick, but no such luck. 😥 I don't really think it's that noticable when you look at it, so I'm happy to live with it!

Hi. Thanks for the cookie recipe. I'm definitely going to make these. And you're making lovely progress on the dress. Can't wait to see it.
Wow, Theresa, you have such grit and determination! Full marks for keeping going with your dress! Your cookies all look wonderful too. Thanks for your videos this year, all of them and have a great Christmas and New Year xx
Thank you so much! Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
I found a silk velvet dress years ago at a rummage sale that was made in Hong Kong, entirely hand stitched. It was beautiful.
How incredible! What a find!
Lovely seeing this come together!!🎉
Your batch of cookies look great Teresa. I felt so bad for you while sewing, I wish I could have been there to help you unpick and sort your serger out. I can’t wait to see your dress finished.
Thanks Claire, we all have these challenges with our sewing. Somehow we keep coming back to it!
I commend you on your perseverance and I cannot wait to see the dress!!!
I’m so enjoying your Christmas Day dress construction! I’ve also started a brand new list - fabrics to not seek out and silk velvet is the first entry 🤣
Hahaha, can you imagine that despite this all, I'd totally sew with it again? Just after a break!! 😂
My mantra, “it doesn’t have to be precise”. Loved following along with your sewing dress drama.
So true!!
I love your video Theresa and you have encountered a lot of problems with your sewing and yet you still kept upbeat and continued. Your dress looks great and I can't wait for the big reveal x
There's only one way forward, and I want this dress for Christmas!!

Oh, man, what a rollercoaster! Can't wait to see the final reveal. 💙
I'm still nervous until it's done!! 🤞
My serger was doing that and I had to clean and rethread it and it worked fine.
Hello Zelda. I see you have excellent taste in vlogs. 😀
Sometimes they just need a little TLC

It is soo pretty. 😍 I will 100% sew with it again, despite the headaches. 😂😂 Just after a break, maybe.

I can't imagine a hot Christmas. It would be very surreal! Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
I have had no desire to ever sew with any kind of velvet fabric based on what you have been going through and what I've seen others go through.
Haha, don't let this totally put you off! Stretch velvet and polyester velvet have never caused me this much trouble. It's the silk element, for sure!

Never tried that one, but not a bad idea!

I know what you mean. I often mean to comment but never get there if I'm watching and sewing. Thanks for stopping by!
I have a video coming out at the beginning of the year on how to thread your serger. I know you know how to do it, but stop by and see it.😅
Wish I'd had one of those when I first got my serger!!
You are definitely a better woman than I.
Turned out great, you'll be the belle of the ball
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
THANK YOU! ❤
I'm sure it will be worth it!!!
Kenneth D King has some fantastic tips on sewing with difficult fabrics like silk and velvet.
I'll have to check those out before I try to tackle this tricky stuff again!

1/2 t vanilla

What a funny coincidence! I'll have to compare your recipe to mine. Glad yours kept their shape!
