I have lived here for 40 years and no problem at all mate. There are more chances in American continent to get shot by some punk than get attacked by an poor animal in Australia.
They got some nasty animal also. For example you see this beach and man decide to swimm , suddenly you see some box jellyfish and if that didn't kill you ,comes the salty crocodile. Somehow you have manage to escape on the beach when you step on coastal taipan ... if somehow you are lucky to avoid that attack you are certainly finished when curious cassowary is checking you out. Yes, the Australian landscape is beautiful

there is another place further north called Shellburn bay, it is even better but almost impossible to travel to, about 6oo klms from the nearest small town
The beach sand is the finest in the world. So fine you can polish jewlery. Go on a 80foot sailing catamaran for a day will cost around $AU60. Lunch and swimming/diving stops included.
It is the most beautiful beach on earth: July - Sept are your target months, when there are also tens of thousands of Antarctic Humpbacks that cone to these very islands to calve. Do not come to the tropics in the Australian summer. You will regret that.

Saltwater crocodiles and box jellyfish are the main dangers in these waters though the jellyfish are only present certain time of the the year crocs on the other hand are deadly year round.

I voted with 20 - th dislike ONLY for one reason - GREAT WHITE SHARKS. It is unbeliveable beautiful, BUT whit this beasts in the water it is not haven but a HELL.
