  • There are many ways to choose your bike size when purchasing from you trusty bike shop. One is using the age old template of Height = Bike size. And the othe non mainstream one is sizing based on you unique biomechanics and preferences in riding style

    I somehow stumbled upon this video. I must say Mr. Cruz had prevented him from making major mistake. 5’7-5’8 rider definitely must choose 49 with 515mm ETT. On 52, a novice or even amateur rider would have done plank on the bike and wouldn’t last an hour before the arms go shaking (he should see Richard Carapaz, Simon Yates, Nairo Quintana). Especially after the covid era, there are really a lot of smarta$$ newbies (including new bike shop owners) acting like physiologist experts / world-team bike fitters trying to give ill-advice about bike fitting, cadence etc etc. This video proved that. Thank you, Mr. Cruz! 👍

    Even Adam Yates' 5'7" tall and he's using a XXS (47) frame size for his Bianchi specialissima has a 130mm stem. It's better to have a smaller frame than a bigger one. Just trust CRZ guys

    Hello. Very good and informative video. I personally am high 1.69m with 80,7 cm inseam. I ride canyon endurace in XS size. I was all the time convinced that it's too small for me - it came with 80mm stem. Looking at my colleagues who have long frames, are so stretched, look so pro (ha ha), but don't ride like pro - comparing to them, I look like a godzilla on my small bike. I have even swapped the stem to 100mm and almost slammed it to look better. With the saddle almost all in front (regarding the seat rails movement limits) and with this 100 stem it's ok. But if I try to be more balanced in the saddle, I would have to move it back almost 2 cm, so I suppose the original 80mm stem would be OK too. Recently I bought also saddle SMP Well (newer version of Hell, like on your film) - it has massive range of regulation fore-aft. So I suppose on my frame XS could ride even someone few cm taller than me.

      Hello, good to meet you here. First I wanna thank you for supporting our content. For your question, it is true that Bike sizing for ready made, ready to ride built bikes use the inseam as a reference. Hence the Sizing sticker shows the seat tube length.
      If you are local, or can we say, Filipino built and proportions, our main concern will be the Top Tube length. This confirms what you just discovered on your own - your bike fits you. Simply feel if you can reach the brake hoods comfortably without experiencing numb fingers on long rides. This is the usual deal breaker. I hope this simple answer helps

      From our many experiences, we never encountered this phenomenon. I personally use a 50mm on my Time trial bike and still allows us to downhill at 60 to 75kph like on rails. Same with all the other riders. But what makes this possible is adapting your riding style and technique, by also shifting your center of gravity as well as removing the hand grip pressure on the handlebars that is usually caused by too long of a top tube and stem. The weight in front is what defines the ride characteristics of a bike. Imagine a motorcycle, the handlebar is literally attached to the forks with no 100mm stem. Yet a sport bike and speed up effortlessly in a straight line with little hand feedback

    coach is it safe to say that if a person is buying a built road bike, buy one size smaller than what is recommended using the height as the basis right?

    • @CruzControlPH
      @CruzControlPH  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not necessarily, preferably ask if you can test ride. Feel the bike. If you can’t reach the brakes, perhaps that’s a simple test. Individuals have different torso to inseam ratio

      Test ride the bike. Feel your purchase. You worked hard for you money, make sure you can hold and reach. If a bike shop has a test size bike, ask to ride it even on a trainer. Just don’t get what is shoved into your hand

      Di naman sinasabi na mali lahat ng company, ang point dito, hindi applicable sa lahat ng tao yung sizing ng company kasi iba iba haba ng lower at upper body ng tao.

      Hehe yun mga company kasi gumagawa halimbawa ng isang bike na magffit sa difeerent height ng tai. Marketing strategy nila yun para makabenta, yung ginawa ni coach pinili nya yung angkop talaga sa body mismo ng rider.
