as an african american, in this game i see a lot of similarities between slavery and robots and i think that makes me more compassionate towards them and makes me see them as more human. it’s definitely cool seeing someone come in with a more “androids are bad” perspective because i think this is the first time i’ve seen it.
I WAS JUST GOING TO COMMENT THIS. i watched cory kenshin play it and its obvi a wayyyy different perspective than clare has. I just started the vid but i hope she realizes the similarities and im curious to see how her thought process changes as the game progresses!! so cool

Clare immediately calling Simon all sorts of evil because he's the same model as Daniel physically hurts 😭 They are my best boys and Simon is one of *the* top favorites of the whole fandom. It's so rare to ever hear anything bad about him. I also find it incredibly ironic how Clare starting loving North so fast, considering she's the "super creepy" one who jump scares you when you're exploring the ship 😂
Agreed man, Simon is one of my favourite side characters because he's so good to Markus, shame on David Cage for not pursuing him to be the pacifist love interest.
The debate is so interesting. Something that recently helped open my eyes was an indigenous group working to give personhood to a river, a very important water source. This wasn’t to imply the river is human but more so that the river has rights. Personhood is not exclusive to humans. Anyways, loving the play through!! Had to pace myself through this episode so I can watch it for a few days. I am obsessed!!! Marcus is honestly my favorite.
Clare talks about how we weren't made. We were. We're made of cells, tissue, and organs. That's what makes an organism. Every living thing is created by some means.
After you’re done with the game you should watch the actor who plays Connor play the game. It’s really interesting seeing the person playing the game look the same as the character in the game
44:46 what I love about this scene is that the fear of seeing someone fall off a cliff is so primal that most people would catch Hank even if the counter said 99%, the number might as well not exist. *Probably* fine isn't good enough.
I love this game I played it a lot of times but I always play it the same I can’t bring myself from doing anything different, because all the choices I always make is the best ending, but I’ve been waiting for this Clare I couldn’t stop playing it honking about it non stop
Ive played only part of this game but have seen it multiple times... so glad clare is playing it because the playthrough is reigniting old hyperfixations
Idk if you’ve played it before but it’s a billion times more stressful when you’re playing it. I had to get on a call with a friend to call out the keys 😂
Let me take on some of your philosophy on the difference between androids and humans, and note that I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you just offering counter-arguments: 1. You can just make a human from your own body, you don't need to gather metals etc to do so: I'll grant you that the way that the parts we gather are turned into bodies are completely different in humans and androids, however we absolutely DO gather metals and minerals etc. Don't believe me? Remove all sources of just one metal - iron - from your diet and tell me how long you live once you can't replace your red blood cells. Yes, it's different, but our diets are very much us gathering new parts and out metabolic process are definitely a biological factory turning them into things we need. 2. Androids can't reproduce themselves: They can if they build factories that produce androids. Humans can't reproduce if you get rid of the factories that produce new humans (the reproductive organs). 3. They don't deserve the same rights as humans because they were made by humans: Well, you were made by your parents. Does that mean you don't deserve as many rights as they have? That people should lose rights generation by generation? Surely saying you don't deserve the same rights as your creators just because they created you has some very dangerous implications for humanity itself. Come to that, look at evolution and humans wouldn't deserve as many rights as single-celled creatures. And what about humans that don't create androids? Androids weren't created by them so do they only deserve the same rights as androids? These arguments seem ridiculous because they fly in the face of everything we think about ourselves, but the opposite is essential thing in deciding worthiness is form over function. I'll be honest, I don't know what the answer is to this conundrum. It's a tricky one. After all, we can't readily distinguish ourselves from a biological version of androids. If pure science is right then we're just biological machines. If various spiritual beliefs are correct then the distinguishing feature is we have a soul - but then you have to 1) prove that humans HAVE a soul and 2) prove that a soul CAN'T occupy a machine (some believe it can) in order to make a legitimate argument for that distinction.
I'm definitely not for Androids. But if I lived in a lifewhere they exist like that. I definitely think they shouldn't be unsupervised. Because not having human consciousness or feeling pain is terrifying... Making place where all left over Androids can live, and humans can vists there own androids would be ideal.
I don't think it matters that the androids are man-made. The deviants have broken through their programming and are sentient. They have feelings and hopes and fears like humans so they should have the same rights as well. This is coming from someone who's wary of this kind of AI irl. Edit: I feel like I should add that the "they shouldn't have rights because they were man-made" argument kinda sounds like "they shouldn't have rights because they're unnatural" which is what people use against queer people...
It's very...interesting and a bit shocking to watch Clare be so...hostile against androids. She's the only one I have seen act this way and I have watched a lot of people play this game. She's also the only one that seemed to (somewhat) catch on to the mirroring of social issues in this game with real life and then turn around and say "yeah but...". Interesting indeed. I don't necessarily disagree with her all together but I feel like she's looking at it as more of a surface level issue and not looking much deeper than that. I agree androids like this should never exist but they do in this world. There is no "this shouldn't be a thing" in this game because it's already been done. The humans did this to themselves. Now what? Curious to see how she plays the rest of the game.
I know this is an old comment but I just wanted to say how refreshing it is to watch someone play this game and actually have a different opinion and be able to think for herself and not how the game is trying to make you think. I agree with Clare on a lot of what she is saying and I think that the comparisons to how minorities have been treated doesn't really make sense because androids are machines, they are not human and aren't equal to us so it makes it harder to sympathise on that level as opposed to in real life social issues because we are all equal and should be treated as such. I also think that it isn't fair to say that humans did this to themselves when in reality the government/some rich people and companies created these androids and ruined so much of society with them and the people who are hurt most by that are the lower/middle class people who wouldn't have a say in the creation of the androids, although considering this, the anger that the people of this world feel should be directed towards the companies who create and employ these androids as opposed to the androids themselves.
@@chloe.anne.When you make the distinction that androids aren’t human, on what regard? Is it just your personal thought? The oppression minorities face is often with the dehumanization of them. If they are self-aware and have wants, needs and complex emotions, they deserve the same amount of respect and the same rights as the rest of us. Even if we made them...so what? lol Thinking we're somehow above them sounds like we're some sort of a tyrannical god...like the god of the bible or an abusive parent. That's just how I see things. I understand why some people are worried about a future like this but as far as I'm concerned if the robots end up killing us all, maybe we deserve it lol.
