its definately a IC from MPS, marked "GC" but i cant find the specific one. could be a MP2386, MP2329, MP2384 or the CCM version of either.. they all share about the same specs and have the right qfn-11 pinout
i would fit a MP2329GG, i compared them all, they all have the same requirement and specs like Ref voltage, frequency etc. but the 2329 has the best (lowest RDSon, highest current) internal mosfet of all
This attribution by gamerpaddy appears to be correct, as the 11 pin pinout on the bottom of the chip appears to be very distinctive and restricted to a family of adjustable voltage regulators by MPS (the package type, 11-VQFN, doesn't have that many examples) Unfortunately none of these parts have 322 in them, due to Asus meddling likely. A close examination of the various datasheets for these parts, and pinpointing the role of the chip (which voltage rail it is regulating), and measurement of the adjoining parts could get you over the finish line, I think.
Love how you openly admit the mistake that was made. You guys are only human and mistakes happen especially with the amount of devices you fix. I'm amazed the customer didn't chase before 4 months lol, but shows how honest and open you are about everything you do 👏👏👏👏
Not really, good laptop manufacturers have very few problems. People tend to cook their laptops not cleaning them. No shortage of shit desk top parts flying around.
True if you don't clean them. Acer is fine...my Asus died within 1 week of purchase back in 2023...and that is actually how I found this channel. Red board Asus laptops are notorious for these problems.
@@danielphillips1171 Gaming laptops generate heat. They stress the mosfets due to amperage being drawn. What google showed. Graphics Core Next (GCN) is the codename for a series of microarchitectures and an instruction set architecture that were developed by AMD for its GPUs as the successor to its TeraScale microarchitecture. The first product featuring GCN was launched on January 9, 2012.
I refer youtube laptop reviewers to your channel when they push ASUS laptops with abandon. All reviewers I have chatted with say no such thing as reliability in laptops, they say they all fail. wow. I always ask them if they would buy a car without researching reliability ? some care are MORE reliable generally. same with laptops. I have never had an Acer laptop fail on and have had 4. I have had many Hondas, Acuras, Toyotas and Lexus. not one fail.
True. I am on my 3d acer laptop never had a fail. Also my pre 2018 asus laptop alao has no problem. Of course laptop sits on a stand with good airflow. If you mistreat your items they will fail you.
Not necessarily the elect. engineers fault. Corporate purchases the components based on price. China is known for manufacturing subpar components at very good prices.
yup...whether you spend 600 or 4000 everyone expects a desktop still...lol a 4070 uses 200w in a desktop....what could go wrong with trying to squeeze that in to a 1/2" shell and expect no problems..mind you the laptop version is 115w but still...naive to think 4000 is going to get you something solid still
@@ChadLuciano when work pays it's nice not my problem you gotta shitty job lol. But yeah you get some great stuff for 4k definitely not the same as a 4k desktop though but I also can't travel with a desktop so I'll take next best equivalent
What method does Big Boss use to keep up with disassembled laptops, especially small things like screws, while waiting for the repair to be completed? I would like to learn from the pros how to improve my skills.
Could the GCN chip be tied to Graphics Core Next, an AMD developed chip for graphics card? Should match if the Laptop is a G14 powered by a Ryzen 9 card ? (Do not think the RX6800 series uses GCN, but this is just a hunch, not facts). See if you have any donor AMD/ATI cards with that chip on it?
My honest opinion: The people you have simply don't provide proper service (removing the dust from the laptop!). They use the laptop but don't use a separate cooler, and then you end up with this result! My last Asus laptop was from 2021 with an RTX 3080 and a VBIOS with increased clock speeds. I never had any problems and played video games on it every day! I cleaned the laptop every 3 months, and it still works without any issues to this day
Dont you hate manufacturers using devices that you can find zero information on, surely there are devices that perform the function that are not so obscure that there are no datasheets available. Manufactures who want to keep their quality name should be using reputable parts. Yes I expect some devices with be application specific but label them so
...and yet people still blindly buy them. They've been known to have sub-par products for more than 20 years. AND YET PEOPLE STILL BUY THEIR CRAP. F Asus. Honestly if I had a repair shop I wouldn't even accept Asus and Apple. People should know better, there is a wealth of information about how bad these companies are with their warranty claim practices and unreliable products.
"The GCN 322 chip, specifically, is part of the GCN 2.0 architecture and is used in AMD’s Neo GPU." Doesn't really help find it, but that is what it apparently is.
Don't buy Asus my motherboard failed after 18 months and found out later that model which was touted by hardware unboxd and others as a good board. Well it was defective and many others experience the same issues

There aren't too many 11-VFQFN packaged ics out there.

Talking to the dead is only slightly more difficult than talking to an engineer
It depends on whether the engineer understands (like a good teacher) his stuff so well he can break it down to apples and oranges.

If I have learned anything from buying an ASUS ROG ALLY is that I am not buying any other ASUS product as long as I am on this spinning rock
If asus made laptops that lasted longer than warranty offered, they would have a hard time making money.
Wouldn't it be the opposite?
Laptop will always have issue compared to a desktop..

Sounds like a real potential for a class action lawsuit against Asus.

Has nothing to do with that power IC.

Did the board design engineers fail or did the bean counters higher up cheap out on the parts?
biggest problem is people buy laptops, and expect to use them like a desktop.
Well when you spend 4gs on one. you bet I will.

what the f this doofoos talking about
GCN markings are from Huamei Semiconductor . Chat GPT gave a link to semiconductor database.
No 322 still so far.
Are those chips sold exclusively to Asus? Or just kept from being researched? Thank you

You’re repeating yourself. 😊

i think is mosfet self switching, step down inverter , one output ? v ,one input 19v , enable and disable
did you get any zotac rtx 4090s for repair

If there is one thing to learn about this channel ots dont buy labtops from name brands.
Always better to have a shorted mosfet than a shorted CPU/GPU
