Screech stood up to Zack and said that showed how little respect Zack had for Screech, and that maybe he should let Linda decide for herself which of them she liked better.

They really abused the shit out of him: putting him down, hitting him, and using him; Zack especially. I kept wondering why they were even hanging out together. Screech could have found some new friends or something.
True. And to realize he was always there for the fans to the of The New Class when most of the original cast moved on...Dustin deserved better treatment in real life for the reunions and reboot which lacked a laugh track focused on being woke.

Definitely true. Also, even back in the Miss Bliss days, there was one episode where she tried to protect him from a school bully. So that shows that on some level she always considered him a friend. But I think she thought that friendship was as far as she wanted it to go - she wasn’t interested in dating him, and was annoyed when he wouldn’t take no for an answer. But toward the end, in the prom episode, and also in the valedictorian episode, she did acknowledge that even though he was “strange” he was genuinely a good person.

The 90s was absolutely full of "wholesome" shows that had one character universally bullied by the other characters. I didn't think anything of it at the time, it seemed normal, but watching them as an adult, I am cringing.
I think the only good thing was that even though they all put Screech down, if anyone outside of their group of friends insulted him or tried to hurt him in anyway, they would come to his defense. That shows that they considered him their friend. However, it’s true, there is nothing “wholesome “ about bully.

Kelly only insulted Screech when he made stupid mistakes that had negative consequences for her, such as blabbing out a secret, or losing his place in line when he was supposed to buy the movie tickets for the group. Other than that, she didn’t pick on him just for being goofy the way the others did, because she accepted that as the way he was, and would often defend him when others would pick on him.
This explains why screech became such an asshole when he got older. I mean if you get picked on so much it pushes you to your limits. So I guess I can’t really blame him.🤣🤣
It hurts watching this knowing how the cast didn't help Dustin Diamond become a more mature person and hang out with them growing up.
