For a clear cover inside the lid, you can use the transparency sheets for overhead projectors that were used in meetings & conferences etc, before Powerpoint presentations became normal. In some office supply shops you might be able to get a hold on them. As long as you only use it for a clear lid, you can use any kind. But worth mentioning (for other projects) is that they come in several versions, some only for laser printers or copy machines, some even only for b/w printing/copy. These will not work with inkjet printers, but there are other types who do. But simply to use as a clear cover in a box like this one, any kind of acetate/plastic sheet that is clear will work, I guess.
Just started watching your video and I'm giving a big thumbs because I saw your husband in the background playing video games and totally judged that, but then you pointed it out and his grin is PRICELESS! Totally laughed out loud!
Please help! This is exactly what I'm looking for, for my new baby granddaughter due September 2021. I'm so very new to having a cricut machine and I just don't know how to download the file :( Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated x
You say to select the offset and the inner box and to "subtract all". Then you remove the offset. When I attempt this, it subtracts all, but does not leave the cut lines that you have. When others asked about this very issue, people keep talking about "welding" rather than subtracting. I have watched the video over and over and have followed your directions step by step. The only difference is that I used a different font. Can you think of anything I'm doing wrong?
Hi. I am on a Silhouette Cameo 2. After much discussion in the FB Silhouette Fun page, I learned a few things and one of them was that for me, I have to "weld" rather than subtract all. Very strange but that was the only way it would work for me. Initially, even that didn't work, but after watching your second video where you showed everything from start to finish, I learned that I had to ungroup the entire file in order to work with the box top and get it to work (can you tell I'm a newbie?). It seems like many people are having the same issue but everyone is so great on the Silhouette pages and helped! BTW, your tutorials are very helpful!
guys!! the same happened to me... then i realized it's grouped. ungroup the template, then click on your offset, shift/and select the inner box. THEN subtract all. That worked for me. Please let me know if that works for you. i just used this vid to make my first box. it's for a baby shower tomorrow. that's the only problem i ran into but then realized it was selecting the entire piece, not just the inner box. so ungroup first... hope this helps!
An SVG file was shared in the group. I've only used Design Space a handful of times so I can't explain how that works but pop over to the group and check.
By "inside" if you mean the hole it creates...people have been using report covers from the dollartree, overhead transparencies, basically anything that is a light weight sturdy plastic. Some people have been leaving the hole open as well. (If you're referring to the bottom of the box then a heavy card stock will work nicely...glitter card stock looks really cool)
The solid lines are a compound path which is what you want. When you're ready to weld your offset to your box it's ok that you can't select just the centre.
kylie davis if you're part of the facebook group ask there...if not join...it's easier to help through that platform. Lots of people had trouble with subtract and weld. We can definitely walk you through it there or in a facebook pm 😊
I love that your husband is playing video games in the background......this is so my house!

Great job. Easy to follow and quick and to the point.
I use the Zig glue pen. They come in a fine and wide point. Works great on card stock.

Hi. When you here some say welding it’s because they are using a Cricut cutter. What type of cutter are you using ?

Does anyone still have access to this file? I cannot find it for the life of me and i want to use it for a baby shower gift
Hi do you still have your Facebook group???
They do! facebook.com/groups/scFUNpi/
Is this file in the silhouette design store?
I don't know....but it is listed for free in our group, or on www.vinylsupplyshop.com :)
Would you happen to have instructions for a Cricut?
An SVG file was shared in the group. I've only used Design Space a handful of times so I can't explain how that works but pop over to the group and check.
Can you tell me what kind of paper to use for the inside

which software are you using
Trina Davis This is Silhouette Studio V4 (current). It‘s great!
where can I get the files
Is this file also come in a svg format?
In the group the svg format was shared :o)
I can't highlight just the inside box when trying to select the offset. What am I doing wrong?
The solid lines are a compound path which is what you want. When you're ready to weld your offset to your box it's ok that you can't select just the centre.
I have the same problem, so therefor can't subtract the line thats between the inside box and the offset.
kylie davis if both parts are compound paths they will weld. Make sure both are compound paths, select them together then right click and WELD. 😊
Thanks Shauna but just still not working. im a newbie hence why I like to use videos but just cant work this one out
