The scandal broke couple of years ago..high caliber weapons being sent to gun shops near the Mexico border. This arsenal makes its way to Mexico. The obvious suspects were implicated and the stuff is given away relative free. When USA agents were being killed with these weapons..some noise was made but it soon fizzled out. Seems you down play these games. So it's just one of the hundreds of deadly games USA is playing with Mexico.

The fact you put in your thumbnail "Mexico is under fire" and on your title "HORROR" in caps is MORONIC! . now and i live in the state of Chihuahua Mexico Lol and i know the country from south to north, i can tell you love sensationalism for the love of clicks, i travel around Mx. so i understand the problems we have, but also the things people like you don't talk about, Mexico in 22 was the 6th most visited countries in the world with almost 40 million visitors. and the number keeps growing, inspected to hit 50m in 2024. the cartel violence is a fact but also most of that problem is inside a nasty war between them, for example my brother lives in SA TX. the un violence there is a horror story, a fun fact is you have a higher chance of been a victim of a firearm in the US than Mex. sensationalism is a
deceitful, deceptive, false, fraudulent, misleading way of doing journalism.

That's because the U.S. Government is doing this on purpose for a reason. The news channel's all talk about what happen over seas. Why you wonder? Well who controls the media, the government does. They want the American people to be dumb and blind and only listen to what the news says is important. Why? Because the U.S. American population can not handle the truth. The government is a well oiled machine and if we knew what was happening this close to home then that a hiccup in that machine. So if we stay focused on things that happen 5,000 miles away we still have that sense of everything is okay. And that machine can keep running. But in reality it's not.
I tried to convey what I am saying into words that anyone can understand. I hope you understood what I'm trying to say.

I think that goes within the very foundations of the meaning of a “cartel” as many of us understand it.
Drugs, weapons, organized crime more dangerous than the average gangs, illegal trafficking, burning and beheading videos, seemingly endless amount of manpower, prostitution, threats, kidnappings and political control as well as corrupt police officers and corrupted politicians and officials. I would say that cartel goes hand in hand with terrorism.

Not long after The Zees became the enforcement branch of the Sinaloa Cartel the Obama Administration was busted for running guns to Mexico. I think BarakTheMagicNegro kicked off all the death and destruction in Mexico. I also think the dems had something to do with Rush Limbaugh dying. The thing i’ve noticed about Ed is that he has a very deep and nuanced understanding of the deep seated corruption of mexican law enforcement which has led to the complete transformation of mexico into a narco-state, and of the total failure of the american war on drugs. His analysis of the situation on both sides of the border seems to always lead to the conclusion that attempts to solve the problem under the current paradigms is futile. But every time i’ve heard him be interviewed, he never misses a chance to be critical of center left (for lack of a better term) policies and reconfigurations to the overall strategy to end cartel violence. If the solution to a problem has shown to be ineffective for decades, shouldn’t we be looking for new ones? He goes so far as to criticize a democratic government for being against extra judicial incarceration based on insufficient evidence, but i digress.

And I learned right away I was to protect my family. But the "genetic memory" he called it always mystified me. Note: The Mex Army was known to be absolutely brutal against common peasant citizens in lawless villages.

I had to stop listening after an hour because it was impacting me a little to much. I started to think in such fatalistic, anxious, helpless, and terrified way. I can't even phantom how it was for Ed living this in first hand. It really moved me since I'm Tijuanense, born and raised. I was just a kid when all of this part of the Mexico's history happened. But even when I can't barely remember about it, I can confirm things haven't changed but somehow worsen. It made me question myself how me and my family lived through this, and still do in a way, in shock.
Now as an adult and as an Internationalist it opened a new whole perspective. Once one of my friends said ''In other countries they use the army for war, in Mexico they use it for the narco'' and that sentence will stay with me forever.
It's tough hearing about this but necessary. I can only say that I truly admire Ed for being so vocal and thank this guy for giving him the platform to share with us his experiencies!

I totally disagree with his analysis on the role of the Mexican Army and while it is true that the biggest area where the government hasn't advance is security, the level of violence and crime is simply unacceptable there's a well thought out plan and a strategy while one can disagree with it you can't say that the government isn't doing anything, is important to understand and remember that at the beginning of the current administration after an evaluation the president felt that the federal police, couldn't be trusted and had to be dissolved, is easy to criticize the over reliance from the President on the Army, one of the most trusted Mexican institutions, and his call to stop the violence embodied by his Abrazos no balazos strategy but without a federal force to combat organized crime there was not a lot anyone could have done, apparently his strategy is to create the National Gard and leave a professional federal force established so the next administration has the man power to in a more forceful way go after the criminal organizations, and there's not an Army take over, the Mexico is going to become Venezuela is just wrong

Thank you for sharing this interview. I just wish that my late father could have listened to this interview. My hair stood on end just hearing more or less what my late father had predicted in the late 80’s would happen in Mexico at the turn of the 20th century into the 21st century. Seems like not much has changed since my maternal grandparents left Zacatecas during the revolution led by Pancho Villa during the early 1900’s.
