Tricia Reust is a spectacularly vibrant Artist that uses colour without any inhibitions. Letting the idea and the form take shape and then building a story as part of her approach. Tricia is a woman who loves life and also her ability to pass on the great information she has learnt herself over the years.
Tricia Reust was born in Sydney, NSW, lived for twelve years in Michigan USA, and now lives on the Redcliffe Peninsula north of Brisbane in Qld.
Tricia exhibits regularly in regional shows and competitions. She is active in the art community, maintains a studio, teaches, judges, and presents workshops. Tricia can't remember ever not drawing, and works on her art every day, as she can't not do it. The mixed media process is the vehicle for her to express her belief that we exist to be community, and to support one another.
"Hopefully we each individually reach a point where we listen to the echoes and urgings of our spirit and embrace conscious decision making on how we treat each other and the earth. The mingled edges of the mixed media process help illustrate that we are not separate from one another or the earth." - Tricia Reust
Tricia was awarded 1st Place in Portrait at the Pastel Society of Australia Annual Awards 2014 with this work titled Truth Cloak. You can purchase a reproduction print from our store! Truth Cloak also featured in January 2015 issue of the Australian Artist magazine, with progressive photos of its creation.

The Colour In Your Life TV series is an art show that takes you into the everyday studios of artists from around the world. Love your art! I have a question in regards to the pastel layer...do you seal it after?I'm always afraid that it will get smudged. Thanks & I love these videos!
Dear Debbie, the pastel in this video was applied over mixed media on watercolour paper. Any work on paper has to be displayed/framed under glass, so there was no need to seal the pastel on this work. I framed it under glass. The only time I seal pastel is when I use it on canvas, and I spray the final painting with varnish. I don't use a fixative spray either, on pastel on paper - I tap the back of the paper to release any loose pastel, and my framer uses a spacer (behind the mat)to catch any pastel dust that may fall through handling of the works - this falls behind the mat so that it can't be seen and dirty the appearance.I hope this has helped! For storing pastel works so that they don't smudge, lay them flat with a piece of glassine paper in between. Thank you for your kind comments and best wishes in your pastelling!.

I am using 333gsm watercolour paper as well as working on canvas, in the show. Binder medium is manufactured by Chroma (Atelier) and is available in art stores and through their web site - good luck - I hope you can find some - and enjoy using it in your collages
