- Hot on the heels of my recent trip to essex i've found another koi dealer to take a look at.
Koi logic is the uk importer of ogata koi farm.
also a live example of why I have started a quarantine tank.

Hi Mate .Nice upload, I bought a 46cm Ogata Gin Rin Showa Friday. Looks Female, Great Body. Massive Head and Mouth. Very strong looking Fish. It's going to be a big Fish. Top feeder, loves her food. Keep up the interesting material. Thank you

Ogata can have randomly great fish. Just gotta be patient or be lucky.
Yeah they do have some stunners. It's just the strength of bloodline as you don't know what's what.
Nice video , thats ones close to me, I was there a few days ago . Does have some very nice koi , high prices though . I bought a Gin Matsuba there last year from the 95 pound tank,its done very well . I guessed you would get some more , they are nice koi .Shiros are one of my favs .
Yeah I agree. Got the quality if you want to spend the money. All subjective anyway I suppose depends on what you want and what your doing with them! Ha ha wasn't really a challenging question was it?? At this point I think it's an addiction🤣 see how these 3 littlest compete in the tub.

If I had of known you were going there you could have popped in for a cup of tea. It's about 15 mins from me. I tend to buy most of my pipework from there. I have bought fish from there but it was quite some time ago. He's getting a bit pricey now so I doubt I would buy from him currently. However like you I'm full so it's not currently a something I'm looking to do.
You certainly are spoilt for choice in Essex when it comes to koi dealers. Can see its dry good section be very handy to have near by. I'm sure ill be back over the water soon!

Should have mentioned that tategoi are kept over there and are no longer tategoi if they are sold on to a dealer. Only if they are kept by the breeder are they classed as tategoi. They are koi kept for potential and the breeder sees potential. It sickens me how so-called dealers use this as a way to up the prices of what is a koi and nothing more than that. Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay IMO
Yeah defo, tategoi has been a marketing tactic for years. No doubt the fish were high quality, bit ultimately the farms keep the real cream of the crop 👍 that's why I'm quite enjoying touring all these diff places, so everyone can see what is around and make their own comparisons.

@@TerryOConnell-u8j cheers. Yes I have seen some bits flying around. To be honest I already new the response it would generate from some. I'm testing it hard and I've got some really interesting findings already, it's not new tech , it's been around along time. With everything I put out, I hope everyone sees I have no agenda , no products to sell etc, just my own experiences and real life findings that I hope are useful to all those in the hobby.

And agree on how they have been out,had one,must be ten years ago,but the price rocketed and could get it again. very surprising the price point they have it at. Suppose it's like using virkon,some swear by it and others knock it not knowing or trying it,I like to try something before knocking it or having an opinion. Hoping you didn't buy here,as I think unless you are looking to show,they are way over priced when like you said,they could be from a number of farms and breeders. I would be of the same mind and look to get a good quality tosai at a reasonable price over paying over the odds for a larger one that I can't claim to have put the effort in. On the Beni kumonryu,I would out that unless they are almost white in the face,they darken and become almost black in any way hard water. Would need RO to have any hope of them staying close to what they are when you get them.od be well pissed if I got a fish and it had an issue like that,not what I would expect when they are charging those prices. Still,like yourself ,hard to resist buying.
I did but only from the cheaper end, I see sparkles of Gin Rin and I'm off🤣. The smaller lower grade are reasonably priced but the top end stuff too much for my pocket defo. I'm not upset on the Lice side not ideal but The amount of fish all the dealers have its going to happen its part of the hobby, just glad I always check em all, an pleased I've started a QT. Easy to see how you end up with all sorts from over the place. Be the last I buy for a while now too. Want some growth on all of these.
And yes the beni Kumonryu do turn totally black. Interesting the hard water element you've noted- I've also seen if you push them to quick with heat it just pushes sumi up . I've got one left that hasn't gone totally black so see what it does. Cheers as ever for taking the time to comment 👍

I'm not sure I can say that, hasn't been my experience, but I appreciate that everyone has their own opinions and expriences. Shall come check you guys out 👍
