First time I’ve actually seen the benefits of heat whilst doing this Dave. Only kept an unheated pond and QT until the event. Massive eye opener and learning curve. Great update 👍
@@paulhigginson3876 yeah this has given me the chance to show the difference, given I could never keep all 200 pushing on. Problem is you don't want to do unheated once you've seen🤣
Great video it is surprising what heat does for a koi and the correct food and regime You have done really well and I do agree it is great fun and you can see them growing week by week All the best Jiffster 👍🏼👍🏼
On the IBC in this one , it's just a 500w heater aquarium at the moment. However this isn't a cost effective way to heat. I have an ASHP on the EZponds. ☺️👍
Hey, its one of them that you tend to ignore thinking you can do it without until you try with 😂. I was the same, the difference was night and day, growth and development literally night and day. My outdoor pond avg from May-Sept has been 18.5, indoor heated 24c. Doesn't seem significant until you experience it yourself. I no longer buy small koi at this time of year. Cheers
@@KoiKicks yeah think I'm at the point now where I won't keep a pond without heat. Now the insulation and thermal efficiency ideas on an outdoor pond at swirling 🤯. Cheers dude ☺️👍
Haha @@OrchardKoi not got my head around heating outdoor pond yet. I would consider doubling the size of my current pond but then enclosing it within what I'd call a garden room for entertainment. Then it would be heated but over summer for growing then maintain around 12c. But then I think why not just build a 20k pond in my current koi house!? Dilemma, and then I think there goes 30k in money and the thought process starts again. 😅
@@KoiKicks exactly that it's the money, an this time I don't want to build something I'm always going to say, "wish I'd done that" wish i d done this" , etc. always end up re building, so im sticking with my growing and trying everything before I decide what i want 😂
@@camronrudolph1411 , try with out it first, see where you get, as salt won't help with ammonia blocking, but will help with any stress. I think it's great idea for helping get your nitrite eating colony established as it will give you some security in blocking the effects of nitrite poisoning. Filter maturity will also depend on what you want to feed. You can't decide you want to feed 1kg and put that in straight away, you'll need to incrementally build it up to get an established filter colony. Hope that helps ☺️👍

No not this lot I had these from 2 weeks old for new forest koi farm as part of a competition☺️👍
just a quick question what are your thought on someone that is starting
a setup like this but keeping the water salted at 0.3 till filter is mature
