I could understand liking this film because oneself is in it, but in reality this was a very poorly made film both sorry telling wise and in terms of historical accuracy
Beautiful scene without any emotional value in the story. Watching this scene without seeing the movie is epic, but watching this scene during the movie is boring
Its a key moment in the story and a famous painting He crowns himself I found it an interesting scene in the movie because I knew of it The movie is flawed but its still epic and very interesting Napoleon one of the greatest figures in history
Admittedly it should have been the climax of the film. It should have focused on his rise to power because fitting Napoleon’s whole life into a single movie is difficult to say the leasr
Napoelon knew Pope Leon III inverted the Bizantine rituals when he crowned Charlemagne (that made him angry) in 800 and wanted to avoid that the Pope Pius would take advantage too. Therefore he agreed with Pope Pius that he would crown himself and Josephine, the Pope would only be there to bless his reign.
Wrong, at the time it was widely believed that you had to have divine right by god to be ruler of a country. Napoleon had no birthright or royal claim to the throne, him doing this was to show everyone in the room that he didn't rule by divine lineage, he ruled by conquest.
Although Napoleon in real life didn’t actually snatch the crown from the Pope’s hands, I feel like it is significantly more dramatic than the real version. Even though I knew it was inaccurate when watching the film and already knew what was going to happen, it was still shocking seeing him snatch the crown and I am sure it was even more shocking for the rest of the audience in the theater.
He did crown himself Emperor of the French. The Pope was present and normally he would do it. But to make sure everyone knew he was truly the Emperor he picked up the crown and placed it on his own head something no one had dared do before. The man had balls of steel.

I went to see the movie, and I think that Lidley Scott did not want to portray Napoleon as a hero. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was that the Napoleon's officers hardly appeared in the movie. The battle of Waterloo is poorly depicted and not according to the historical facts, which is a pity. I was disappointed that it was mostly about his romance with Josephine. I wish that when they make a movie about Napoleon, they would research the history a little more thoroughly before making it. I can understand if you add a little arrangement to the historical fact, but the scene at Waterloo was a mess. I can only hope for the next Napoleon movie.

Well, he kept in place the new land ownership of the revolution. He didnt bring back feudalism like serfdom. He introduced a new legal code which is still in place in the republic, so its sortof a hybrid of monarchy and republic. For example people were appointed to office according to merit, not hereditary nobles as sometimes in the Ancien Regime.
