Lily when she was signed her label wanted her to release covers and go the usual teen pop star route. she didn’t want that and wanted wrote her own songs, so she did. the label didn’t didn’t think it was marketable so she released it for free on soundcloud. royals took off, got downloaded around 60k times FOR FREE, the label realized they screwed up, took it down, it went on sale and the rest is history.

The way she moves when she sings reminded me of just some teenage girl dancing to her favorite song, not caring if anyone sees her and thinks she looks stupid. Then I remembered that that's basically what she IS and it made me smile.

All I was trying to say was that she looked like she was having fun doing what she loved. At what point, exactly, did I insult her talent? At what point did I defame her in any way? In fact, by assuming that I was being condescending is an insult to teenagers, being that the only thing I said that could be seen as insulting to her in any way was me calling her a teenager.

I absolutely love everything about her. the faces she makes when she sings, the way she flips her hair to the other side of her face, the way she bounces while singing, her hand gestures when performing, how she doesnt wear makeup that often. Everything.
I actually like the fact that she was awkward here. She has passion, lol. It's more interesting to watch then some boring over choreographed dance routine. And at least she's keeping her tongue in her mouth and not twerking on everything in sight.

Hopefully more people start realize that you don't need to be the most naturally gifted singer to make good music. It's not about vocal acrobatics. Her real appeal comes from her ability to write her own music (luckily, music that showcases the best qualities of her voice). That's where the real talent is--creating music that relies on substance in the writing, not on big notes or crazy on-stage antics.
