Most of the ideas are good, but I probably would steer clear of the boiling water option for most bottles as the very hot water may cause some of the plastics to leach out chemicals. Another option is just simply setting the bottle out in the sun for a couple days to air out. The UV rays will kill a lot of the germs / bacteria. Then rinse out with soap and warm water.

Been using the Efferdent denture cleaner method for years to clean out my Stanley thermos'. Works a charm at cleaning coffee/tea stains and smells. Never thought of using it for my water bottles or bladders. Take care.

+Fjell Wood Ha, I suppose that would be a lot to do for one bottle. You know what they say.....If at first you don't succeed, you have 4 more chances to fix that really disgusting water bottle. ;) Luckily, each method works pretty well on its own. - Chris

Great ideas. For the baking soda and bleach, you need to separate the times these are in the bottle. Baking soda and bleach and water just makes salt water. For the baking soda and water to counter act any acidic ph in the plastic, and freshen it, it needs to be alone in the bottle. Otherwise, bleach and water to sanitize the plastic. Then add in the other ingredient to neutralize its compatriot for the natural salt and sterilizaitaon. Otherwise, all are good.

Dishwasher works for mine.
I spray mine with sodium metabisulphite, which to most people is harmless and used in many food products and used to disinfect beer bottles and fermenters. Spray allow to dry and then rince.
Great tips! I've tried all but the denture tabs with success. The only method I wouldn't do again, at least on a bladder, is the mouthwash. It took an entire season to get the hint of the mouthwash out. And that was even after trying bleach and baking soda to remove it!
+Christopher Mailloux We agree. The mouthwash was at the bottom of the list. It works best if you pour it in and rinse it out relatively quickly. You definitely don't want to let the mouthwash sit overnight. Thanks for stopping by to watch! :) - Chris
Why not with bottle cleaning brush or foam tipped stick or also used for cleaning kids feeders bottles

Yo thanks so much I can finally use my water bottle if you put the baking soda bleach then rinse with soap and water then put mouthwash and reapeat
