Just an FYI for anyone who is looking to buy this laptop. In this review the laptop was In stock form with the 16gb soldered only so the laptop is running in Single Channel. Adding a 2nd 16GB stick enabling dual channel mode increases FPS in most games by 35-60%. I have 240hz +1TB version and was getting similar out of the box performance but adding the second stick in BFV went from 55-60fps now to 90-95fps and Witcher maxed out I'm averaging 96-107fps. Also note in Asus Armory Crate there is a manual overclock option which boosts performance on top of what you might get with afterburner. Hope this helps anyone who might be interested in the GX502.

Hello, there is a mistake. The keyboard is per ker RGB. But Armoury Crate doesn't do per key RGB yet. You can do it with Aura Core 😉. I have this laptop. From Switzerland.

My only surprise were temperatures because they are like 90-95 degrees everytime I play, even when the cpu is only 30% usage. But it seems normal with these Intel CPUs. I got 17500 on Firestrike and 3039 on Cinebench R20. Big scores ! The laptop came only with webcam (no mouse, no usb-c power brick). I am liking this laptop. No regrets on buying it.

For a properly engineered thermal solution, the hottest parts are the ones that you’re least likely to touch, like the sides or behind the screen, and even those areas will barely reach 50-60 degrees. If your keyboard is 90 degrees, your processor could probably cook you some food

With the fans going, 4GHz is always reached and GPU really doesn't bounce around. Temps never went above 98 C either. I've only had a blue screen when attempting a over the top undervoltage.
Great review! I got the 1tb 240hz version arriving tomorrow. With regards to the ports i decided i could live without thunderbolt 3 and an sd card reader in exchange for a full size 2070 and (hopefully) better cooling over the gs65 and razer blade 15. Thanks again for the review! Subbed!

Can't remember the last time I actually used a webcam. Never used or intend to use Thunderbolt 3. Not issues for me at all. You are being very picky. People wont be upgrading just for the 9th Gen I7. I upgraded from my old laptop that had a 970m, 8gb Ram. This laptop is really good. I got mine for £1800 last week. Bargain and could not let that pass. Enjoy.

Can you check if the USB-C port is connected directly to the GPU? I want a laptop for the Rift S and am considering this one. If you open the NVIDIA Control Panel by right clicking your desktop, then navigate to the ‘Configure Surround, PhysX’ tab you will see a diagram showing which ports are connected to which GPU.

@@Karstel I don't think it's the sticker, they just didn't seal the bezel right on my unit, giant gaps on the bottom left and right corner, if I push the bezel and seal the gap with my finger the bleeding is gone. I returned it already, hope they'll fix that later.
@@jessezeng169 All of them have problemes with the glue on the bezel. Thats a general problem by Asus. I got the Zephyrus M and allready returned it twice and its in repair for the 2nd time right now. And thats in 1 month after I bought it.

I personally prefer the gigabyte Aero 15, which is also a thin and light laptop with a similar price. It has better battery, Thunderbolt 3, two M.2 slots (this one has only 1) full keyboard, faster SSD (intel 760p) microsoft AI which saves your time by automatically adjusting the GPU and CPU performance.

most benchmarks show that the full version RTX 2070 is within 10% performance range of the RTX2080 Max-Q... this 2070 is also slightly overclocked with decent thermals so I'd say there about the same.
Anyone has any comments about the soft touch rubbery paint on the palm rest? Does it wear off like the Lenovo X1 Carbon? I’m afraid the surface would wear off unevenly and reveal smudge marks that cannot be cleaned.
I've had it for almost a month now. There is absolutely no sign of wear. I'd say similar build quality to Apple. The brushed aluminium has taken the most damage though. But that's exaggerating. I can't notice anything from half a meter away.
I jumped from MacBook pro early 2015 to this one, and it beats it below bedrock. Photoshop is as snappy as on a desktop, and the only drawback (Adobe AE) so far was the default 16GB Ram. I will most likely go for 32GB upgrade.

The Zephrus comes with a 1TB ssd vs the razer only coming with a 512gb ssd plus the Zephrus has second ssd slot to add more storage and its still cheaper than the razer and it can be charged by a high enough usbc charger while the razer can’t and it only uses razers way overpriced 200watt charger that cost a whopping $200 to buy another one if you want one to stay at home and other in your travel bag Razer is just a overpriced brand

I am not over emphasizing this due to my poor experience but due to the overwhelming trend I have seen on forums, twitter posts, etc. They make a great product but it is a shame they cannot back it up. Definitely not worth it.
In the package, I recieved an included FullHD 60hz attacheable Webcam. Great aluminium and glad build. It is 100% worth not having it inbuilt. It also has stereo mic on-board of the webcam.

Wow. We've reached the point where 95℃ for CPU and 90℃ for GPU is considered okay for a high end gaming laptop.
It would if the fan doesn't scream. The junction temp for Intel CPUs is 105C, while well over 90C for the GPU. Technically it is fine, just not ideal

So far it hasn't given me any problems, just make sure you keep the BIOS updated to the latest one when you get it

Did you notice any backlight bleeding? Mine has some serious bleeding on the bottom left corner, I can see it in a light-up room.
I’ve also got light bleed on the bottom left, I think it is because of the sticker that game on the chin bezel.

David Schwab GX502 supports USB-C power delivery, so yes you can power it up via a power bank if it provides enough power (45W+)

Yes - GW are the models with either the 2060 or 2070 RTX cards - in this case NON Max-Q which is good (more powerful).

Great laptop, I just have a problem where when I enable G-Sync games look blurry in motion.
G-Sync is meant to stop screen tearing for lower FPS from what I heard. Probably why you have this problem.

Its performing worse than laptops with 80 and 90w 2070MQ. So why is the 115w 2070 so terrible?
