    Bought the Pixel 7 Pro but couldn't pass up getting the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra when the deals were out. Figured I'd sell my Pixel afterwards. Just three months later and I'm back on the Pixel. It's just so much better!! 😊
    Since I find the Pixel 7 Pro more comfortable and meets all my needs. Now I'm likely going to sell the Samsung 😢
    My best summary is, "The S23U is a better phone, but the Pixel 7 Pro is a better experience."

    I absolutely love the pixel 6. I was looking at the geek bench score and wasn't going to get it. I got to thinking about what I actually do on my phone. TH-cam, Google messages , TH-cam music, and sometimes IG. It's more phone that myself and most people actually need. Unless gaming is super important you don't miss out an day to day performance.

    I hope Google continues their focus on hardware, treating it more seriously as it seems they are, with the 7 and 7 Pro phones being evidence of that as well as the PW and upcoming Tablet, 7a and Fold devices. In order to make a decent dent in the marketplace and a worthy competitor to the usual players Galaxy and iPhone, they will nee to put their best foot forward and it looks like they finally have made that commitment to do so.
    I loved my Pixel 6, the camera bar especially was a lot more durable and the smaller size was easier on day to day onehanded use than my 7 Pro but having that Macro focus capability has really come in handy and the 120Hz is a nice luxury. Overall I am very happy and I hope the 8 series phones only build on this success.

    Surprised you did not mention front camera performance within apps like WhatsApp and touchscreen performance.
    I feel like I'm in year 2010 when using this front camera and on top of that video is always blurry for some reason.(Video from front camera in apps other than Camera app)
    And generally touchscreen feels off, unless I disable 120hz and even on 60hz its nowhere near perfect.
    Both should be fixable by an update, but it has been 6 months and issues are still here.

    The phone would be so much better if it was the thickness of the camera bump and all that new internal space was more battery.
    It's so derpy having that that weird bump.

    • @theirregularadventurers
      @theirregularadventurers ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it's 5000mAh battery... that's at the top... only asus rog phones have like 6000 and other 2,3 more specialized phones might have more than 5k... not to mention that the more battery you have the heavier the phone because the main weight comes from the battery in a phone. We don't want heavier phones, they are already heavy enough. What they can work on though is more efficient chipsets and with a faster charging the battery depletion will be way slower and the feeling of needing more battery per charge might even be inexistent with a faster charging.

    • @youtubevanced4900
      @youtubevanced4900 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theirregularadventurers it might be, but it doesn't mean it couldn't be better.
      Way back I had an HTC Desire. It had a removable battery which was intergrated into the back case. I bought a new back for it which doubled the thickness of the phone and vastly increased the battery life.
      I went from having a phone that needed charging daily to charging every 4-5 days. It was so good.
      The thickness made no difference to it's use. Phones are so light that even doubling the weight is meaningless.
      We are starting to see fold phones becoming more popular so it's clear the extra thickness doesn't bother people.
      I'd much rather a phone being slightly thicker, especially when it already is thicker at the camera bump. Add battery and give me 2 or 3 days of battery.

    • @theirregularadventurers
      @theirregularadventurers ปีที่แล้ว

      @@youtubevanced4900 HTC desire is 135 g - now phones these days are almost twice that. It becomes an inconvenience at a point for heavy users especially... Think about gamers they have to hold that in their hands for hours. if you chat with someone when you are in bed or want to watch a long video and you don't support your hand it might become sore very fast. I'm am telling out of my own experience and i'm kind of a big man. Imagine how it is for some frail ladies. Phones are also already so big it barely fit in my pockets. if you wear skinny it's even more visible and protruding, so i'd definitely wouldn't want thicker frame for these already big phones. if you wear large pants they feel like you have a break swinging in your pocket already so again definitely not heavier. The heavier the phone is the easier to crack when you drop it as well... the heavier it is the more chances to drop as well. There are so many reasons I wouldn't want phones to get heavier and go back to that 145g or like your previous 135g HTC desire... yes! that would also be my desire. And then not to mention the battery life... that HTC desire had like 1400mAh per battery... no wonder you would want double... maybe even triple... and you'll still be only at 4200... these 5000mah phones should hold for weeks for you if that htc with double battery was lasting 4-5 days. I know a lot of people don't know how to adjust the consumption of their phones either. I don't want to be presumptuous because i don't know you personally but just saying that there are ways to significantly improve it with minimal sacrifices especially these days. And I also know that chipsets become more efficient by year as well as AI and good software can increase significantly the battery power. and that's a trend that has to continue and not focus on getting the phones chunkier and heavier. I'd rather go back to plastic frames than all these glass and metal that significantly add weight as well, just to fake call the phone that it has "more premium feeling".

    • @theirregularadventurers
      @theirregularadventurers ปีที่แล้ว

      @@youtubevanced4900 btw, samsung seems to have come up with an idea of battery that practically can increase the capacity in a smaller factor. I heard they might introduce it with the galaxy s24series. so yes, that's what we need. new technology for batteries if we really want to put more capacity we should keep the same form factor or less and same weight or less. and seriously focus on efficiency on the processors and software. phones are already faster than anything you can do on such a small factor device (obviously some would disagree) and we don't need 4k screen for 6'5-6'8 inch phones or 1000Hz refresh rate screens. i don't know when people will realize that these things are nothing but marketing gimmicks

    • @youtubevanced4900
      @youtubevanced4900 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theirregularadventurers Those are some good points.
      I personally run my phone on power saver all the time as I want my phone to last at least a day.
      The S20 can usually get me through work if it's not in power saver mode. I sit most of the day with BT headphones on listening to music to block out the office chatter.
      In power saver mode it normally makes it to the evening but this is all conditional that I'm not actually using the screen much at all.
      It is a few years old now so that's not helping either but I often need to charge the thing during the day if I put any decent amount of use in.
      To me that's not very convenient.
      As far as drop protection, that's easy. Get a Spigen case. I've had one for 3 phones now I think. My wife for 3 phones. Most of my closest friends have got them now.
      Zero cracked screens or any damage whilst using a Spigen. They are so good.
      One friend cheaped out and bought a knock off Spigen. His phone screen has about 5 million cracks because he saved 15 bucks buying the knock off.

It exposed myskin tone so perfectly ( I am black ) specially when I am taking pictures with my girlfriend ( she is white) unlike iphone where my skinstone is always under exposed, with no details. I switch from samsung s22 ultra and the only thing I miss, is dual app ( clone social media apps) and secure folder. I can not wait till Google brings these 2 features too to android 14 or 15. I feel like they are the one who can take on apple. Real love for REAL TONE! Thank you!!!!

    I must say sometimes it's the best phone and sometimes its the worst phone :D.
    Several down sides:
    - charging (ugghh, 1 hour 40 min from 0 to 100), if you are a heavy gamer, this is absolutely not your phone. The heavier the app, the more battery it drains. If you compare it with other phones you will definitely see 2 hours less screentime per full charge.
    - spontaneous crashing (weird thing, you can't do much and you need a reboot, happens once a few weeks)
    - this software is absolutely no where near the Samsung or Iphone (stability)
    - your feedback is still there even after months. Looks like google is not that interested or there are way to many feedbacks (software issues).
    I am a Google Pixel 7 pro 256gb user since 3 months.

    I have massive buyers remorse after buying the Pixel 7 pro. There's no noticeable speed difference between the 7 pro and the S10 Plus. The design is extra just for the sake of it, in the apps are worse than Samsung. Samsung notepad lets you lock notes, and the Samsung health app is designed well and more intuitive than Google fit. Though it's supposedly brighter, it feels the same as the S10 in the sun.

    Got my Pixel 7 pro yesterday and right out the box it had crashing and rebooting problems. Did a factory reset and nothing helped. I wouldn't recommend this phone because clearly something in it can be faulty and render the phone unusable right out of the box. Awful experience, if I could get a refund instead of a replacement I would but for now we will see if the 2nd one is also a lemon. I don't seem to be anywhere near the first person to have this exact problem and the only workable solution is to replace the phone.

    The Pixel 7 Pro is nice. While I have not used this yet as my main driver, I am impressed. While I think Android 13 is smooth, I did apply Nova Launcher to help with personalized customization. Charging is a bit slow but I'm helped by my Anker charging cord and brick.

    I really like the pixel line, as well as Samsung. I'm a long time iPhone user. The reason I'm leary of switching, particularly to a Google branded phone is because I don't trust Google's commitment to hardware; Samsung and Apple hardware isn't going anywhere. Both of them are stubborn and give their products ample opportunity to find its footing in the market. Google, on the other hand has a history of dumping hardware and services, if they are not successful out of the gate.

      Oh gosh, this is so very true about Google, no lie, this is exactly their track record. I also feel the same, although I do own the Pixel 7 Pro, and it's great. But I know not to get comfortable with anything Google due to their track record with hardware and services. I am thinking right now about going to the apple store to buy the iPhone, only because I am so aware to not get comfortable with Google. Already some of my favorite features have been taken down from the Pixel phone.

    I have been using the Pixel 7 Pro for a while now and, except for the fingerprint reader, it's great.
    I liked the fingerprint reader on my old Pixel 5 much better. Rock solid and easy to access.
    The one built into the front screen is so unreliable it might as well be a Samsung.

    I love the phone but probably will never buy another. After owning the phone for about 5 months I find it is not compatible with a lot of Google products. Google apps that work flawlessly on iOS, crash frequently, stop working, lose random functionality, and cannot work if Google VPN is active... It's like Google apps are not compatible with Android and Google hardware...
    Love the phone but am struggling to deal with random randomness that is randomly good and randomly bad but is also randomly broken. All in all, after switching away from Apple, I would have to say, Google isn't compatible with Google.

    I am a Pixel 7 user. I have been a PIXEL lover since Pixel 2XL in 2017. The very fact that its camera is much better than 99% of the smartphone cameras in the market right now is a special feeling.

      I'm still using my pixel 2XL 😅 but it's been slowly failing me for the last couple of months so i'm upgrading to the 7 Pro. Was a Samsung gal until i got my 2 XL and at this point I'll forever be a google phone gal. My daughter bought the S23 and had to return the first one and 2 years late is having issues with her current one. Up until the recent issues, my ancient 2XL has never given me a single problem.

    I really like the phone in most areas and really hate the phone in some. The battery does not feel like a 5000 mAh battery, it drains more than I'd like on idle/standby even when I turn 5g off and the slow charging does not help this case. There are some bugs I cannot seem to resolve like the screen brightness going very dim sometimes at maximum with and without adaptive brightness and the scrolling is sometimes hit or miss, not keeping momentum while flicking- and is even worse while horizontal scrolling (like through recent apps). The speakers are some of the worst I've ever heard and needs a third-party app like Wavelet to adjust the EQ for it to sound decent. Otherwise, I've been enjoying it so far I guess.

    Cases need to go we design phones for aesthetic and a tactile functional experience there's no excuse. It comes as a shock but the Xperia 1ii was the most robust durable device I've used and and awesome to use without a case as intended. I'll be swapping my pixel 6 pro with the worst lack of palm rejection ever, and worst scanner ever for the 1 v which will own every device this year.
    Just install gcam

One major problem is when switching from Home screen to the general app screen the brightness is so reduced that is very uncomfortable to handle. I think Google is paying you to make this video.
