The latest attempt to reach a peace accord on Bosnia failed on
Tuesday (21/11), as the Balkan peace talks in Dayton, Ohio ended
without an agreement. Several Croatian and Bosnian Serb villages
could be affected by the widening of the Brcko and Posavina
corridor in northern Bosnia as part of any peace agreement. This
thin stretch of land along the Sava river, which creates a natural
border between Croatia and Bosnia, could prove to be a stumbling
block to any future peacenegotiations. In a rare opportunity, a
WTN cameraman was able to reach the town of Brcko in the centre of
the disputed corridor and film the destroyed bridge over the Sava
river, which once connected the two sides. In the town, deserted
streets and sparsely populated cafes, hair-dressing parlours and
shops, testify to a semblance of normal life.
