What an amazing composition, And the performance here is tops. Much different from some other performances on this organ that were a bit bottom heavy. THIS performance sparkles. What brilliant stops. The musical lines are distinct and they shimmer throughout...pedal is subdued, but always supportive. This is a tough piece to play, but is performed beautifully here and with fine attention to the details that the music itself calls for.. I enjoyed this performance very much, indeed.

The Bach adagio here is perhaps one of the most sublime stand-alone pieces of human expression to have ever occurred in the history of humankind.

This is the perfect counter-interpretation of the one from Wolfgang Rübsam. This one's more Bach-like, in the traditional performance sense, and probably the best one of those I can find online. Rübsam's interpretation is far more violin-like, almost as if he really wants the stringeffect to still be there.
Both are really nice, it's just up to the listener, or performer, to make a decision on his preference :)

I've always loved this piece, and you play it REALLY well. Great articulations, just a little "Edgy", perfect tempi throughout. Probably the best performance of this work I've ever heard.

Hardly. Bach never merely "transcribed" but reinvented and improved the work immeasurably. No one questions that Vivaldi was a great composer, and Bach's copying and recognition of his works prove that, but his transcriptions are far superior to Vivaldi's original. Even his own transcriptions of his own works are a reflection of that greater amazing, unfathomable genius. Am
Maybe you don't know so much about Vivaldi ... but I have to admit that I don't know so much about Bach either. I don't agree with your point that Vivaldi's composition is below Bach's. Obviously it sounds different if you play it on violin or organ but if you look at the score you can't find much difference. It truly needs talent to transcribe a piece for another instrument, I appreciate that, and I can't understand people who say "But it's a Vivaldi composition!". On the other side I can't understand people who say that a composer is superior to another. Because every composer is a genius on his way. Vivaldi's brilliancy consisted in realising the sounds of nature with instruments and combinig them with beautiful harmonies (not only relating to the four seasons which he wrote relating to his own sonnets). th-cam.com/video/kuPn1uSY1lk/w-d-xo.html is also a brilliant version of the concerto. Not at all , Mirko . Vivaldi was famous and renowned ALL OVER EUROPE and Bach was known only in his hometown . They both were completely forgotten few decades later 😢😢

i listened to this work yesterday, and i loved it. the lady played it a bit faster, and i really enjoyed the excitement of her playing. the organ was huge---St. Eustache, Paris; nevertheless, i believe i like this tempo just a bit more. i hear the rubato that i didn't hear in the other performance. too, i can follow the chromatic scales better, and hear the intricate mortons and thrills. man! that damn organ came alive in the third piece. wonderful sound. very nice.

Great performance; very spirited, performed on a very nice organ. As a contrast one should hear these concertos as Vivaldi originally composed them. I believe they were for the violin. Bach transcribed them to great effect. It would be a nice if Mr. Soderlund could record all the concertos. And in those days, this was thought to be a fine thing. William Stead

Hai ragione, ma è una trascrizione di Bach, per uno strumento solo. Nelle trascrizioni occorre fare degli adattamenti e purtroppo riduzioni.
