Cool! Unboxing a vintage gem! It's like stepping back in time.
This is my new fave opening from you! I grew up in Canada and started collecting in 1983 but can vividly remember my local store that I would walk to and buy these packs of 1984.
Fun fact - we hated OPC and was always envious of Topps. We would call the O-Cheapy and thought of them as a copycat. Fast forward to today and now they are more collectible!
But in Canada OPC gave us the better hockey sets.

The issue with the cuts on these is that they had limited blade replacements , so they would often not changed them until they were really bad. As a comparison, their topps partner would change blades after x hours.

I Love how you know so much about the players, I need to scan them all to know if they are worth any money, I know the ones I collected in the late 80s and 90s. But been 30 + years last time I follows baseball or collected cards. But now I am back into it.

Interesting the Tom Seaver card has him in the Mets uniform and the card says White Sox.
That's because the OPC cards were printed a few months later than the Topps cards, so OPC could show a player with his new team if he had changed teams during the offseason.

My cousin took a family vacation to Canada in 19&4 and came back with 4 boxes I helped him rip them open. Ohtani vs Skenes was fun to watch
i worked as a card cutter for a company that makes was licensed to print and package MiLB cards. You’d be surprised how quick you go through a blade and how often things like bevels in the stack of cards actually happen. like the top and bottom of a stack will be perfect. but get progressively worse toward the middle of a stack.

8:30 that Rich Dauer card is worth a couple $ PSA, crazy keith hernandez card is before his since they both got busted by MLB for doing coke in the 80's

Regarding O-Pee-Chee airbrushing card photos: I started collecting baseball cards in 1976, and the first O-Pee-Chee card I ever saw was the 1977 George Scott card. In his Topps photo of that year he was still depicted as a member of the Brewers, but in his O-Pee-Chee photo they airbrushed his batting helmet and uniform to reflect his trade to the Red Sox that year. So they were doing that at least as far back as '77.
The 1969-70 OPC hockey set has some cards where they airbrushed a player's new team colors onto his jersey while using the same photo from the Topps set. I've had the 1969-70 OPC set for years and I recently got all of the cards from the Topps set from that season that were different from their OPC counterparts. Most of the differences are different photos of players on their old teams, but some are the airbrushed photos.
Hey Jabs, I checked for the psa 10 Mattingly on 130 Point. One sold for $885.
You can also use a t-shirt to rub wax off the front of a card. Just be careful not to rub to hard that you bend the card.

Because at that time, OPC considered the baseball card market in Canada to be not as strong as it was in the US. On the other hand, OPC hockey sets were usually larger than Topps hockey sets because hockey is more popular in Canada. Up until 1976, the OPC baseball set was the same size as the Topps set, but from 1977 through 1989, the set was much smaller. From 1990 through 1992, OPC once again made their set the same size as Topps. In 1993 and 1994, the OPC sets were completely different from the Topps sets, using different designs and photos and the sets were smaller. Then the company was sold and that was the end of OPC cards being produced in Canada.
