Hi Cameron, being a beginner to Thinkorswim, this is exactly the class I need. I watched your # 1 and can't wait to see the rest of the series. Thanks!
I am really looking forward to watching this series. I suggest you add a preamble to the affect that some users will have to request accounts be enabled before they can download in some cases or see some of the features discussed in the video (somehow I got the download to work before approval). I have to wait until tomorrow it seems to finish the video.
As a complete beginner to stock investing and related methods of performing various activities, I think you are one of the BEST teachers especially for beginners using stock investment software. Thanks!
cameron, you are better than most instructors. They go so fast that I can not follow their information. Tos is giving too many unuseful gadgets. Sometimes simple is the best.
Hi Cameron, I enjoyed the great conference this weekend in Santa Clara and meeting you in person in spite of the warm weather. Starting to work my way through your tutorials on TOS and start paper trading soon!
I am on a Macbook Air laptop and Schwab will not allow me to login even though I have an old account from years ago and have not used it nor do I have a balance or funds in the account. The guy on the phone from Support asked me to use Chrome which I do not use and prefer not to.
In street Smart you can minimize items. Like in any windows page. You can minimize the chart for example or the watchlist and keep it below and then with a simple click put it back. Its make life much easier . Is it possible to add it to the Think or swim platform?
Thanks for the suggestion! I've forwarded this up the chain, although I can't make any specific promises regarding what may or may not be added to the platform in the future. Thanks for watching! ^CM
Please explain the math between Trade Price, Market Price, and Market Change. Is the Market Change a dollar amount or percentage? I tried both and the math doesn't add up.
Happy to clarify! "Mark Change" ("Market Change") is the change in the current price ("Mark Price" or "Market Price") of a stock or option from yesterday's close in dollar terms. This value actually has no relationship to Trade Price. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching! ^CM
Cameron, noticed a new?, different? feature on this webcast which I don't believe was in TOS previously. You expanded & enlarged sections of the chart and pulled them forward. Is this a new feature which will be incorporated into TOS from the combining & available to us....or just an instructor specific feature?
Yep, that's a feature we didn't have before: Our team of real-time producers working diligently behind the scenes. They'll be sticking around, so enjoy, Larry! ^CM
Absolutely! There are several ways to do this, but here's one example process: "Trade" tab > Click "Spread: Single" and select "Covered Stock" (a thinkorswim term for Buy-Write or Covered Call) > click the Ask price next to the call option one would like to include as part of their intended Buy-Write. This will create an order to enter into a Buy-Write. Now, one would just need to customize their order for number of shares/contracts, order type (Limit/Market), etc. But that's it! I'll do a webcast dedicated to placing options orders soon, but in the meantime, I hope this helps, and thanks for watching! ^CM
Yes, you can! Here's a video by Barb Armstrong demonstrating the covered call strategy on thinkorswim Desktop: th-cam.com/video/Sv-ZBVjsK3Y/w-d-xo.html. ^CM
Welcome to the platform! Here's the path to change the background color: Gear icon in upper-right corner of platform > Application Settings > Look and feel > Color scheme: Light. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching! ^CM
Cameron, I have been watching several videos to learn the ins and outs but there are either updates or most of the trainings are on the downloaded version. There seems to be a good amount of difference between the screens that I see in the trainings and what I see when I try to work with the screens that I do have.
Glad to help! A number of tools come immediately to mind. For example, you can quickly find a list of stocks hitting new highs or lows using the "Top 10" watch list under the Watchlist gadget in the left column on the Charts tab. Alternately, a scan for stocks at highs or lows can be constructed on the Scan tab via the "Add filter > Study > Highs_Lows" feature. Enjoy! ^CM
Thank you. This encourages me to download Sink or Swim to explore and use the analytical tools. If I find that I prefer the simpler sign-into-Schwab platform, can I go back to that?
Yes, you can always log into your Schwab online account in addition to accessing your portfolio via thinkorswim. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching! ^CM
Hello, I would like to add another simulated margin account, like some coaches have, beyond just the two margin & ira accounts. where can I add that ? 9:10
I am not aware of a process to add more practice accounts to the default Margin and IRA accounts that are provided for each Schwab login. That said, it might be worth a quick call to Support at 800-435-4000 to confirm. Thanks for watching! ^CM
@@tradertalkswebcasts Thank you. Was watching Barbara's video where she has many practice accounts. Support later said it was only set up for the coaches. I was just thinking of housekeeping a variety of practice trades from different margin "buckets", one might be a long on XYZ, another a short on XYZ. /watch?v=NeGS4CXFdJA&t=1590s
Thanks for your comments, and I'll admit I've had dozens and dozens of requests for a change to my platform color scheme. My difficulty is that some of those requests have been for the dark background, and some for the light. I've even conducted polls of my viewers to get a sense for which has the stronger demand, and ultimately, more have requested the light, so that's what I've stuck with. If it's too bright, you can reduce your screen's brightness while viewing my webcasts. I'm sorry to ask this of you, but you see my predicament. In any event, thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next one! ^CM
I suspect you may be using thinkorswim Web. This demonstration was delivered using the thinkorswim Desktop software. As for the black color scheme, this is just a preference setting that can be changed via this path: "Settings" icon (gear icon) in upper right > Application settings > Look and feel > Light. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching! ^CM
To show orders on your chart, click the Gear icon at the top of the chart, then make sure "Show orders" is checked on the General tab. Hope this helps! ^CM
@@tradertalkswebcasts How can I display all of my positions of stock and options on a chart like you used to do by default in Schwab charts? I can see how to display orders in real time, but I cannot find where to click to show my positions on a chart

Happy to help! First, please make sure you're using the software version of thinkorswim, and not the web-based version. The software can be downloaded from inside your schwab.com account under the "Trade" tab. If you're still not seeing the thinkorswim Education tab, you may need to call Support at 800-435-9050. ^CM
Happy to clarify! But first, I'll need a bit more information: What exactly looks like it has changed? The platform hasn't undergone any significant redesign since the release of this video, so it's very likely one of your settings is just different from mine. In any event, I hope you enjoyed the video! ^CM
@@tradertalkswebcasts thank you for responding! I am on the app version. I tried the desktop version too of TOS but it still looks like different buttons!
I'm afraid that's accurate. Due to U.S. federal laws and regulations, Schwab cannot accept applications from residents of your country/region. But in any event, I hope you still find the broader trading and investing concepts I review in my webcasts helpful. Thanks for watching! ^CM

Is Paper Money on a different version of ToS? The TD Ameritrade ToS, Live Trading and Paper Money were switchable. Is that the case for Schwab ToS?
Yes they are switchable. ^BC
Really gets better as I go along and I hope to perform Paper Trade soon.
Good luck in your progress, and thanks for watching! ^CM

Very sorry, but I don't have insight into which features might be in the works for addition to the platform. But in any case, thanks for watching! CM
I am new and using the web based platform, what is the biggest difference from the web and the downloaded platforms?
In brief, it might be easiest to think of web as a streamlined/slimmed-down version of the software. But both are great, of course! ^CM
