Regarding the Renault story: the funniest part is that here in France, Renault claims openly that they completely left Russia. Hilarious (and sad at the same time...)

Renault has a bit of a history. In 1914, the Renault Taxis stopped the Germans from invading Paris. Troops were transported by taxi to a battle field on the River Marne. Twenty years later Louis Renault (the creator) visited Adolf Hitler. The common market was already being discussed. When France was defeated Renault provided trucks to the Reich, bearing in mind the entire French economy had been negotiated with the new Regime. In 1943, the historical Renault factory outside Paris was bombed by the Allies. In 1945, Renault was confiscated and nationalized by the National Resistance Council or CNR. So, Renault didn't have a good rep at all with regards to war issues, although the brand is very keen on denying their past.

@@j.goggels9115 that’s interesting. Although the same can be said about all the big automobile producers, big brands like BMW and Mercedes. I think that all big companies had to stop trading directly with RF (because the transactions became impossible once Russia was removed from the international banking circuit) but they continue to trade with Russia circumventing sanctions.
PS Dacia was the main car of communist Romania, like Moskvich was for USSR so it doesn’t really matter what they are branded as, they’re both produced by Renault anyway post 1990.

    Fun Fanta Fact:
Back in WW2, the German Coca Cola Factories got cut off from the US HQ. Also the supplies needed to manufacture Cola where used in the war somehow, so they could not produce anyway.
So they just mixed some available stuff together, called it "Fanta" and kept the factories running.

I found this quite informative... and entertaining! I knew about _Vkusno_ _i_ _tochka_ and "Stars Coffee", but now, I know just how much the Russian Federation was impacted by Western brands "leaving" the country... in an odd way! Clothing brands called "M" and "Z"? Cyrillized "Hansen"? "Pizza N"?! I think Mikhail Segeyevich is rolling in his grave right now!
At least they were able to get a Fanta knockoff in the form of the orange flavor of _Dobry_ soda. Ironically, Fanta was originally created by Coca-Cola to serve German customers during World War II (US companies were unavailable)... and now, due to a new war in Europe being fought by another dictator, _Dobry_ Orange is Fanta's Fanta!
    Thanks for the video!

Actually, Moskvitch already showed a completely new range of cars. And the reason why they're confident about the start of an electric vehicle car production by 2025 is because all of the cars they have presented so far have been re-badged versions of Chinese brands. ;) So they already have a good pool of cars to pull from.
Moskvitch I-IV (very inspired names) are all rebranded JAC cars. On official graphics, they did not even have Moskvitch logos, just JAC badges photoshopped out.

Fun fact and misunderstanding about coca cola: They originally used coca leaf when coca cola was first invented. This is fairly widely known, it's where it got it's name from. The misconception that alot of people have it's that it doesn't contain coca leaf anymore. It actually does, coca cola is the only non pharmaceutical company that can legally deal with coca leaf (at least in the US). They remove the chemical psychoactive components, sell/donate to hospitals and/or other pharma companies (can't remember exactly), and use the leaf for flavouring. Well, at least that's what they said in the coca cola museum in atlanta, when I went there as a kid back in 2009, could have been a rogue tour guide talking shit idk xD Apparently it's why it's pretty much impossible for any other company copy their exact flavour. Summing it up, they technically still use the coca leaf in coca-cola, just not the cocaine.

11:50 Roman, as a Romanian, I can tell you that your second pronunciation for 'Dacia' was spot on.
Dacia used to be a Romanian car company, but was purchased by Renault in 1999 and soon thereafter produced the Logan as their flagship model. While at the time the acquisition took many Romanians by surprise, Dacia and Renault had significant prior dealings, as not only the first Dacia ever was based on a Renault licence (Renault 8 => Dacia 1100), but also the Dacia 1300 (Dacia's flagship model during 69-84) was based on the Renault 12.

@@spaghettiisyummy.3623 I second everything Alexander stated above. Dacia's have always been made to last and if one somehow doesn't, the early models are cheap as chips and easy to repair.
On the historical front, yes, modern day Romanians trace their lineage back to both ancient Dacia and Rome, as our people's origins lie in Roman-occupied Dacia.
As the story goes, most Dacian men were killed in the long war with Rome. Personally, I find this claim a tad exaggerated, as not every man would have served in the military, but certainly a significantly large percentage of Dacian men had died, given the fierceness of the fighting attested to by Roman documents of the time. After the war, as was their custom, Rome sent a large contingent of retired military men to Dacia (they were given land there) and many Dacian women married the newly-arrived Roman conquerors, who managed to latinize the entire region quite thoroughly, leaving a permanent mark on both our culture and our genetic heritage.
About 170 years after conquering Dacia, Rome officially abandoned the territory due to the various barbarian incursions of the time. It took well over a thousand years for Romanians to fully unify under one banner again, but it only lasted one year (1600-1601). It took us until 1918 to unify Romania permanently. It's really rough being at the crossroads of three empires.
In the interim between Roman occupation and Romanian unification, three Romanian principalities were formed - Transylvania, Wallachia, and Moldova - each with it's own distinct regional character, but all of them Romanian. Vlad the Impaler, for example, was a Wallachian ruler.
I'd also like to mention that ancient Dacia extended somewhat further afield than Romania's current borders - notably encompassing most of the Panonian Plain (which is, these days, mostly occupied by Hungary). If you ever wondered why Romanians and Hungarians seem to have a grudge against each other, it's because of that (i.e. they're squatting on ancient Dacian lands) and, probably more importantly, the fact that Hungary (to be more precise, the Austro-Hungarian Empire) occupied Transylvania for several hundred years - it's still a bit of a sore spot. But hey, these days we get along pretty well, as long as no one mentions Transylvania or Pannonia.

Greetings from Russia. I would like to tell you a little more about Coca-Cola in Russia:
All factories producing Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite belong to the russian division of Coca-Cola HBC. Sometime in the summer of 2022, the russian division was renamed to "Multon Partners" (this is the name of the plant that produced juices and previously also owned by Coca-Cola) and almost all brands of popular drinks were renamed (by the way, they taste almost the same).
I for some reason - then I dug into the information and it turns out that Coca-Cola HBC still remains the parent company renamed "Multon Partner" (that is, Coca-Cola still owns all the factories in Russia, they just changed the name of the russian office and brands)
    This is incredibly funny :D

Softdrinks are often made by a syrup from a central factory in US and then locally mixed with water, sugar and CO2. Russia can have a large stock of the syrup. Almost all countries have some factory making a cola, orange and lime syrup. It's not the same as the original from US, but close enough.

As a car person, I really enjoyed your section about Renault and very funny that the 'Moskvich' brand is making a comeback (lol!🤣 ) I'm from Ireland and even I'm shocked to hear the 'Moskvich' name is coming back! 🤣In regards to what they will do in terms of car designs, I wouldn't be surprised if some Chinese car company/ies start selling their cars in Russia under these names (e.g. 'Moskvich') thereby utilising the factories and selling their cars to a new market, espcially if 'Moskvich' are planning to go "all-electric", which most Chinese car companies are also doing. Plus, as you mentioned, China doesn't have any sanctions on Russia which means an influx of more Chinese companies (e.g. car companies) is surely more likely
