Lindy Hop has a robust culture of vernacular jazz, so learning how to solo dance can have a big impact on your partnered Lindy & Swing Dancing. Plus, it's super fun! Here, we talk about two of the tools I use to improvise: bleeding over the phrase, and using transitions to make a step land with more impact.
Just follow along! After you go through the video once, feel free to go back and break things down, but give yourself a few chances to see and do in real time. After all - that's what we have to do on the social dance floor all the time!
This is from a solo jazz class I taught for the organization Jazz Attack! Thank you so much for asking me to share some dancing with you! I had a great time.

I am so happy to see someone else as freaking excited about transitions as I am.

So you said these are things to play with in choreo and jamming - would using these things in social not work because they push the stuff to different beats? Or would a cousin of this that is in social be like rock step variations, for example?
