  • Rey Mysterio (@reymysterio) is a legendary professional wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer. He sits down with Chris Van Vliet in Las Vegas to talk about his incredible career and the fact that he is still wrestling in WWE, being inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame as an active wrestler, his son Dominik developing his heel persona, never wrestling Triple H in WWE, his thoughts on retirement, how he developed the 619 as a wrestling move, being swung on a stretcher by Big Show, his favorite mask, getting thrown like a lawn dart by Kevin Nash, the rumor that he was a stunt double in the horror movie Freddy vs. Jason, his iconic match against Eddie Guerrero at Halloween Havoc in 1997, winning the Royal Rumble from the #2 spot, never turning heel in WWE and much more!

Rey Mysterio not only brought the lucha libre style by storm but also opened a door for future luchadors, high flying, & Hispanic stars of the ring.
I thank Rey Mysterio for the childhood memories & he still amazes me to this day.

Rey is the #1 lucha and best cruiserweight in WWE/WCW history imo 👌 🤷 been a fan of wrestling since i was 4 years old. Which was in the year 2000 and always loved watching Reys matches! Bro has so many insane memorable moments. Him and Jeff Hardy always amazed me.

The matches and things this man could and can do in the ring is unrivaled. He has more talent, in the ring, than he knows what to do with. Limitless respect to Rey Mysterio Jr. One of the rare guys that could legitimize title runs at that size. Elite performer.

I got into wrestling in August 2003, so the perfect time for the cruiserweight division on Smackdown at that time, and watching Rey on a weekly basis alongside the likes of Tajiri, Jamie Noble, Chavo, Eddie, etc, gave me a lifelong love of wrestling. The first time I saw a live event it was November 2005, the week after Eddie passed, and Rey was in the main event of that week's Monday Night Raw. That he could put on that kind of a show after that big of a loss gave me even more respect for him than I already had. Much love to one of the greatest legends in professional wrestling history, much credit to CVV for all the success and fantastic interviews as always, and thanks so much for reminding me of the guys who gave myself and so many others so many great childhood memories 🙏

But I was the high flyer. 😅 Rey you made my childhood. I was always so excited to see you wrestle with your cool outfits and performing your outstanding moves.

I watched wrestling as a kid in the 80s but stopped around 1990. When i began watching WCW when the monday night wars got so mainstream and i first saw Mysterio wrestle I was in awe anyone could do this and he soon became one of my top three wrestlers. There's one specific Nitro match with Billy Kidman i've never forgot. He got Kidman on top of the turnbuckle and did a bulldog on him from there and while this might not seem like an amazing move now, at the time it was the coolest move i'd ever seen. Circumstances made it so I couldnt watch wrestling anymore by the early 2000s and i didnt see him when he came in the WWE but when i heard of the success he had there i was so glad.
