Beautiful lady, beautiful voice, beautiful hymn. How could anyone not be moved by this?!! She reduced me to tears, but they were tears of joy and hope. Bless you, Katherine Jenkins, for this rendition and for sharing your gift with us!!!
this woman is amazing. She could be dressed in a sack and she'd be the most fabulous thing. Beautiful hymn and fantastic voice and great stage presence
Katherine does look a little nervous. note; Didn't her late father serve in Australia and hoped to bring the family there before he died so she had to be thinking about him as she walked out on the stage. Sounded great as usual ! Love this lady.
The original lyrics were in Welsh but when it was translated into English back in 1771 the first line I became "Guide me, O thou great Jehovah". Jehovah being the translation of word 'God' in Hebrew. However that word is now more accurately translated according to some scholars as ‘Yahweh’. As that word is not a standard word in English, I guess this is why to avoid confusion the word 'Redeemer' is used instead. Redeemer also fits into the narrative of the song as well. Anyway you can sing either way or in the original Welsh if you like.
Hang on Ryan, why have you changed the lyrics from Welsh to English? At the end of the day the original is Cwm Rhondda and it says nothing about Jehovahs or Redeemers... even if you translate it into English.

Why has she changed the lyrics from Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah to redeemer, at the end of the day the original has the name Jehovah why change it?
I thought the same. The version I am learning for my stage debut we sing Jehova. Have a look for Peterborough Male Voice Choir's version
