We lived two years in Paris. The rent is expensive, but the food is not so much, it's pretty affordable. (and of super high quality). Paris' neighborhoods are like little villages...once the people see you around often and realize you are not just another tourist, they will warm up to you. Before you know it, shopkeepers will say hello and engage in small talk. You should choose a good neighborhood (arrondissement) though. We loved it in the 11th, just north of Place de la Bastille, around Rue de la Roquette. (Metro stop Voltaire) Very cute and nice.

Amazing! I just got accepted to the the SciencesPo M.A Human Rights and Humanitarian Action. Trying to decide between SciencesPo and Johns Hopkins SAIS! Also, there are actually tons of internationally top ranked schools for IR in Europe. Hertie School in Berlin, London School of Economics, Hopkins SAIS in Bologna, University of Amsterdam, Erasmus University in Rotterdam, University Pompeu Fabra in Spain, Geneva School of Public Diplomacy and International Relations., Just some examples! Paris is top though.

Well I don’t know if you’re already in Paris at this time but don’t get fooled 😂. I’m a huge fan of the life in Paris (I live there) but you know all the « Paris is romantic » is not really the same when we live here. In France, we have exactly the same thing with NYC we be like « 😍😍winter in nyc » and post a picture of a street with buildings full of snow and think it’s beautiful 😂. So yeah I was born there and I still think it’s beautiful but it’s not like internet or tv shows expose it but I think that all big cities are in that case. French people : In France French people think that parisians and French are 2 different things because parisians are known as « angry » . I really desagree with that because there are every kind of humans everywhere and it depends on who you go on. But let’s say that Americans often thinks that because of the difference of culture between the two continents. Knowing that you lived in Germany I think you’ll be fine with that. Money : yes Paris is expensive especially when you’re from abroad -> for exemple museum are free for people from EU from 0 to 26 yo but foreigners have to pay (maybe when they’re studying the card of the school provides the same advantage idk) The rent is expensive around 1k€ (1,2$) for 20m2 but its kinda the same in big cities such as Nyc La etc I would even say that their more expensive Food is quite okay not too expensive if you don’t buy vegan and bio things straight in Paris (it’s cheaper in the suburb) restaurants are super good and worthy. Conclusion : what I’m tryna say is that it’s not Emily in Paris (I’m thinking about that because season 2 just went out 😂) Emily in Paris is exactly what foreigners think but it’s not. It’s really hard to explain that in a text but what Emily in Paris shows (even the difficulties and the way her colleagues treat her) is not the way it is in Paris. It’s supposed to show how hard is the life in Paris but it stills romanticizing it ! (I found the words to express it yayyy!)
