    I have absolutely loved this series. I'm from Co. Tipperary and regularly tour all the roads you've found on your trip. I had to smile when you came over the hill into Tramore and exclaimed "Wow! What a big beach..... a big beach town!" because the name 'Tramore' is the Anglicised version of the Irish... Trá Mhór which literally translates to Beach (Trá) Big (Mhór).
    Ride safe and we might meet on the road someday 👍

      Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you so much for your comment. The translation of Tramore made me laugh. I wonder how many more of those literal translations there are around Ireland and Scotland.

    I know that part of Ireland well,it’s the nearest coast line to us here,it’s a deceivingly long trek,rosslare,4.5 hrs on the ferry and when I visit my daughters in Colchester,it’s about a 12hr journey for me all in,we always get the half 8 ferry,get to Wales at 1ish in the morning then at least the roads are somewhat clear for a good few hours,it’s a boring run mind as you know,once out of Pembroke it’s all motorway,which is great for quickness etc but nothing to looks at,glad you enjoyed my new home country (well I’ve been here nearly 15yrs,try to see my daughters at least once a year,and I’m sure you’ll agree Ireland is definitely not a cheap place to visit,for what it costs to stay here you’d get cheaper going abroad
    Another great videos lads thanks for sharing

      Thanks you so much. We did find the hotel prices were quite high, but then we were generally in the tourist areas. Beer and food was a about on par with home so not too bad really.
      I know what you mean about the long boring ride from Wales as all motorways, but we were lucky to have no bad traffic to deal with.

    Shhh about the Copper Coast otherwise we'll be overrun by too many tourists. My parents lived just outside of Bonmahon for years. Next time spend time in Dungarvan - it's a lovely little country town with great restaurants. One of the best views in the country is coming down into Dungarvan from Youghal just outside the town. Then take the Copper Coast road and allow time to visit the myriad coves from Stradbally to Tramore. Stay on the coast road through Ballymacaw to Dunmore East, on to Woodstown, Crook and the Passage East car ferry. The Wexford coast is amazing too. There are so many little coves and fabulous beaches down every little side road in both County Waterford and County Wexford. I enjoyed the video so much.

      @@Jitzer2 Thank you for this local knowledge, which is brilliant. I feel we barely scratched the surface of Ireland with our whistle stop tour, but the Cooper Coast is certainly an area we’d like to return to explore more. The few small rocky coves we did find are right up my street. I think we did pass through Dungarvan but I probably wasn’t recording at the time.
      I hope the area stays as unspoilt and beautiful as it is 😁

    If you had turned left at the point where you went over the little bridge in Bunmahon you would have found another lovely little coffee shop in an old church. The Copper Coast - from Bunmahon (Bun-MA-hon) to Tramore is lovely.

    I used to go across on the Cobh ferry daily to work. It was always pretty efficient. Rosslare in the 90s was buzzing. It might make a come back now with the big increase in usage of the port after Brexit but for a while there it was really at a low ebb.

    • @GreyBiker99
      @GreyBiker99  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We were really impressed with the small ferry services.
      I hope you are right about Rosslare as there is a huge amount of building work going on at the port. It looks like it’s going to be 3 or 4 times its present size.

    The big chimney was for burning lime, there are a good few of them scattered round the country.

    • @GreyBiker99
      @GreyBiker99  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for this. We were wondering what they were for and at first thought they were mines as they are similar to some in Cornwall, but that didn’t seem right. Now we know! 😁

    • @Salix631

      @@GreyBiker99 You passed some ruined buildings just outside Bunmahon and these were the pit heads of the copper mines that flourished in Bunmahon in the 19th C. Many Cornish miners worked in Bunmahon, the cliffs there are riddled with mines, some of which go out under the sea.

      @@Salix631 ah, I was partially right then as I said to my wife off camera I wondered if that’s how the Copper Coast got its name. Great info, thank you. I should have done my research before we went 🫣

    Great video, I'm guessing you didn't pass through Dunmore East (near Tramore) which is a beautiful place, it's a shame if you missed it.

      Thank you for your kind comments. We must have bypassed that after leaving Tramore and heading to Passage East. I’ve just googled it and am sorry we didn’t go via there as it looks lovely. There’s always next time 😁

    Really enjoyed this series, and the weather gods must like you too (two, geddit) looking forward to Wales. Do you guy's ever get over to Whitwell on a Friday evening?

    • @GreyBiker99
      @GreyBiker99  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much. I hope to be able to piece something together from the few days in Wales, but it went a little pear shaped when Sue had an off on the off road course and hurt her ankle. Hopefully I’ve got enough footage to cobble something up though.
      We’ve not got over to Whitwell so far as our Fridays tend to be a beer after work. I’ll certainly try to get over at some point though as I have heard good things about it.

      Sorry to hear about Sue's off, but I guess when riding off road, there's a bigger risk, I hope she's healing. I can't visit too often as I work away but I did manage last night, and I think about 500 turned up throughout the evening 😊
