my father Scion water pump went bad in his car so what changed it you no change the water pump out did everything in a button everything back up with alternator back on when to pull on the tensioner and sitting there pulling out the get the serpentine belt on the alternator and it snaps so that's one problem with the tensioner pulley but thank you for the video because I have an 02 Camry that rattles like crazy and I could not figure out what it was until recently and I'm going to change that to on my car
how did you end up lifting the engine? i removed the motor mount but the engine won't raise. I have to replace the idler pulley and this has me stumped. please any help is appreciated. thanks
Now that it has been some time since you added a high output alternator has it been working fine? My understanding is it will cause problems long term.
The increase in DC amps is needed as the system ages, the huge number of sensors, lights, my additions, etc requires the biggest AGM platinum battery that would fit in the cradle (the XB eats cheap car batteries BTW) and The XB needs an alternator that produces more amps than the factory call out. The original alternator got all buzzy and weak. I did replace the Mechman alternator when it failed after 1 year, they did replace it under warranty. DC amps needs to remain constant with no lights dimming or you need more amps if nothing wrong with wiring harness or ground strap which I increased the size to a big cable.
Anybody knows if this job is as difficult on Scion TC- 2005? My idler is a bit loose so it makes a bit of screeching with the belt. Was thinking of changing it, its the same part like the vid. I'm just not sure if the clearance of the bolt is gonna be a nightmare as well? Wonder if I have to jack up the motor as well...
It worked perfect for me , the only thing i did differently was that i lowered the engine with the Jack and thte passenger side tire off you can get the tensioner out really easy from there
I've got the same issue as you - no power steering, no radio, no A/C, no blinkers, trac & abs lights are on, battery won't hold a charge, etc. did replacing your alternator fix those issues?
I have a 2006 xb and we bought it brand new off the truck. 371,000 miles later and it’s still kickin!
Any major repairs? Is everything still original?
I'm about to do this to my 2008. Rattling like crazy in drive or idle. This helped alot!
What was the issue?
THANK YOU... The only video I found with the same exact car and everything made sense... cheers 🍻
Es
Thank you for the video! I appreciate you for making it!😁
Great job! You should totally make more about repairs on the xB.😁
Can't wait to change mine out👍

i noticed that you had your wheel on, did you try to access that pulley from the wheel well?
yes I did
The bolt and nut that hold this tensioner, do we tighten it to torque specs before or after we back the belt?
I have a 2008 xb and I was wondering if you used a special socket to relieve the tension on the serpentine belt?
Thick wood like super thick and 4 ton floor jack= win. But did lower jack little bit. It’s a tough job but manageable.
Did you have to take out the motor mout
I'm trying to locate the tensioner bolt to losen the belt.
Amazing video. Thank You!
What size are the bolts to the tensioner?
Did you have to remove trans mount? My tc engine won't come up high enough.
in the video see that the only thing I removed was the "Motor mount" and the fluid tanks.
It should be the same I have gen 1 scion tc
Trying to change my face alternator....can't take the serpentine belt off...great video
Got it
Thanks

Was your tensioner doing like a whistling sound when the car was on? By any chance
Mine is 😒 seemed all easy n stuff until he went on about jacking up the motor fml this gonna be fun
Mines more like a whistle/annoying ass hum
@@Dabber234 it sucks. Haha

If it has the same 2.4 motor as this xB, it probably is.
It’s the same
Why in the heck did they have to use this instead of a spring tensioner like every other older Toyota uses?
It worked perfect for me , the only thing i did differently was that i lowered the engine with the Jack and thte passenger side tire off you can get the tensioner out really easy from there
Carlos Bonilla how were you able to fully get out the mount to drop it? No luck raising it so wanted to resort to that to
You got to undo more than just that top motor mount he didn't see that party had to go inside and watch Dragon Ball Z or Pokemons or some shit
How many miles did your tensioner last ?
Never mind, I heard the last part when you said 150,000 miles. I have the same car and how are your CV axles and motor mounts holding up ?
Do you have a stock number or part number for that mechman alternator?
250 amp 6 pole
Please what size socket????
Thank you was afraid to damage oil pan
Nice Mechman
power steering acting up where it located I no electronic just trying to find it and see what I need to do

thank you this video help me to m.....
Take the main bracket off the motor lol. You can get so much more room.
I took that whole motor mount completely off
i'm here to educate
Sucks that you don't respond to your subscribers comments.
been busy.
What a nightmare. Talk about a shit design, and these things fail all the time as well.
I have to jack the motor up WTF!
actually dropping the motor to remove the bolt will save you about 2 hours =/
