Thank you, Zed, for taking time to explain some of the adjustments needed to make pedals more user friendly. I have two original short/skinny Axis pedals that I bought in '95 from a friend who was a salesman at Manny's NYC, when Manny's existed. Having previously used Ludwig Speed King and DW 5000, the Axis pedal board's smoothness and fast action surprised me in a very good way. Nevertheless, I never messed around too much with the pedal board's adjustments. As time went by, the desire to play more challenging music along with the determination to improve my food work technique motivated me to replace the Axis skinny boards for the long boards. That change gave me exactly what I was looking for. However, there was one little issue that irked at my soul, and that was the beater always hit quicker than it returned. Although that difference was nanoscopic, it was enough to create an imbalance that became more and more perceptible, especially when I played faster and more complicated note subdivisions alternating between both pedals. This, I could never figure out how to fix. During this particular video about Footboards you spoke about the Variable Drive Lever . Instantaneously it became apparent to me that this is a solution for my long-standing issue. For me, the center or middle position is the best not just to play faster or more frequent groups of notes, but to incorporate dynamic expression as well. With proper maintenance, after more than twenty years both of my Axis Pedals are still going strong. Thank you so very very much! Looking forward to more informative videos like this. Or, whatever information you deem interesting to share.

I would love to see the Longboard have the top half of the X. Right where your big toe sits on the X board, is missing on the longboard as it’s cut shorter in that area

I lost my user manual that came with my pedal years ago and know it answered this in it, but what kind of grease should I use for the bearings? Should I clean them first? What should I clean them with?

You should clean them with Czarcie Kopyto

White lithium grease, don't get the green stuff I originally got, that's for huge heavy machinery
