I mean, breaking the fourth wall is one thing, but if it weren't for him and his overzealous translator we wouldn't know that Ratsel's true name is "Mystery Gourmet".
When Master Rishu wishes that the Type 0 was available, I used to think it was so that Sanger could use it. But after OGG, it seems possible that he wanted to use Type 0 in battle himself. Now that would have been pretty cool, too, I gotta say.
Elzam gives Sanger his cape and turns his robot into a horse that serves no purpose other than to be ridden by Dygenguard, and isn't the least bit worried about being seen as less badass for it. Real men, indeed.
It's a mistranslation of "Pferd Mode" (you can't blame them for seeing "buferudo" and not automatically thinking "of course, it says Pferd!"). It's German for "horse". In other words, Ratsel's saying "Get ready, I'm-a turn into a HORSE and you're gonna RIDE IT!"
Ratsel can override theme songs, and that's awesome. But Sanger can smite the Fourth Wall. He's able to do that to something that doesn't even physically *exist*.
Super Robots have been able to open their mouths since the 70s. It wasn't until Real Robots came along that people realized "Erm, maybe they shouldn't look like they could talk..."
It's not so much that the translator is broken, it's just a bit overzealous. It translates everything it finds from any language into the Inspectors', and then when he says it it gets translated straight back to English (or Japanese). The result is that he gets attacked by the Dark Horse pilotted by the Mystery Gourmet, followed by a beating by the Old Iron, the White Knight, etc.
....Wh-what? He's who? But Elzam doesn't wear goggles! That's like saying that Superman is really Clark Kent, or the afformentioned Char really being Quattro! It's not possible, I mean, headgear is the perfect disguise! ...that is to say, I mean, he's not hiding anything.... ...now imagine if Elzam had a SRWA universe counterpart, a Wodan of his own.
You... You really thought Ratsel wasn't Elzam? The whole thing is played as a joke. There isn't a single character in the game that doesn't know at first glance that Ratsel is just Elzam pulling a Quattro Bajeena and hiding behind a flimsy pair of goggles.

No, if Elzam had an alternate universe counterpart they'd have to stay in their separate worlds lest the universe implode from the combined badass quotients of Elzam, Elzam's rival, Sanger, and Wodan all being in the same universe together.

Important tip! Don't kill anything with the Dygenguar on chapter 30 or you won't get some cool gear later on
