I have the Sony X800m2 and it's a great player that supports all the audio hd disk formats and video formats. I have a bunch of high resolution SACD and DVD Audio disks so it's the player for me. It also makes all video disks look as good as they can for now less than 300 bucks.
I own it and the have had the Panny 820 and 9000. The Sony does not look as good as the Panasonc's. It's good for the price but it's false to say that it "makes all video disks look as good as they can"
@@thomasferguson139That's because it's just the Panasonic ub150 that they just slapped dolby vision in. The upscaler is the same one in their lowest model. If people are only watching 4k discs they'll be alright though.
Thinking about getting the Panasonic UB820 next year. It can do everything I want from a 4K player, including reportedly great upscaling of 1080p blus, WiFi connectivity and moving subtitles into the image on 2.35:1 discs.
I've got one and am pretty pleased with it. Only one real gripe; you can't set it to out the source disk's native resolution (I would at least like the option of seeing if my Sony TV's upscaler is better than the player's without changing the screen resolution each time to match the disk). Just to be clear, if you set it to output 4k, its sends everything as 4K. My other minor gripe is that is responds really slowly to the controls, a good half a second delay between pressing fast forward and anything changing and so on. Talking fast forward, one useful feature is that it can play a disk at 1.3 times normal speed with the sound still playing which can be helpful if your are short of time.
I still have an Oppo 105D player that with Standrad Blu-Rays can show these 4K players how it should be done. So to play the few 4K discs that i have i chose the Panasonic 820, yes it's lightweight plastic bulid is annoying but the price of the 9000 is just too much to play a handful of 4K titles. I upgraded the remote to a 9000 one, and this should have been supplied with the 820, it is far superior to the stock one and shows that both players have the same firmware and features. The Sony has no front panel display, why ? this stopped me from buying one.

@@MrCREWCRUSHIN95 The sad part was that Oppo pulled out of the market soon after they were released, i knew the technical director of Oppo UK, he was looking for a new job as they offered to buy back the ones that had just been delivered. This was very sad for the 4K player market, even Pioneer followed soon after. Re Magnetar are just as risky to buy as Oppo, there is only a sales office in the EU with no technical or repair backup, faulty ones have to go back to China. Are Panasonic DP-UB9000P AND DP-UB820-K Region Free players?Cause I live in S.E.A countries.I know they're not available in S.E.A region.I own Sony -X800M2 region free player.
Actually the BR player technology is outdated. People are not going for the BR disc like before. Now everything is available in 4k format live on line. Doesn't make any sense

Actually- the player everybody should have their eyes on is the new *Panasonic UB450*. $200 price point, and you get Dolby Vision and HDR10+
But it does not have the Cinema upscale processor the 820 and 9000 have.
Upscaler for what, blu-rays DVDs?@@kriswingert1662
I heard there's been problems with it freezing up and not playing certain discs

Magnetar UDP 900 is the best player money can buy nowadays.
Nice machine but crucially lacks the custom tone mapping abilities of the Panasonics.

The Oppo 203/205 are the gold standard for 4k blu ray players. Reavon and Magnetar are clones of these.

Good, they're terrible
I have an LG and it's ok when it decides it wants to turn on, play a disc without needing to be unplugged first.. (UBK 90)
Why 🤷♂️, i have a PS5 and also a Xbox Series X, both play 4K Blurays 🎥🎮

What it great about that one?
The LG also has twin HDMI outputs to separate image and sound. Useful if like me your receiver doesn't support HRD or Dolby Vision passthrough.

Blu ray is doing just fine. 60-80 new movies per month. 2023 was the biggest year in the history of physical media.
The 820 won't disappoint? That's all I ever hear is they keep on freezing up
I HAVE MENTIONED WHICH FEATURES ARE MISSING IN THE MODEL WHICH ARE GIVEN IN THE NEXT MODEL .
Are you ever going to say why one is better than the other or you just going to keep on talking?
SORRY TO HEAR THAT BRO YOU TELL ME YOUR REQUIREMENTS AND I WILL TRY TO TELL YOU THE BEST OPTION.
