Super nice bike and I like your build. Ride On brother.
I have the same bars on a KHS Montana Comp, and they are very comfortable.

This is my bike! The yellow with the pink and blue trim just screams 80s, doesn't it? I bought it with the money that my grandmother willed to me when she died. My mother was mad that I spent the money on something as ephemeral as a bicycle, but I have had it now for 33+ years. At this point, I think the only original part is the frame - everything else has been replaced. I was sort of sad to see the end of biopace chain ring, but it was time for the drivetrain to go. I've used this bike for touring, mountain biking, gravel rides, touring, commuting, club rides - even did a double century on it when I was younger and fitter. Now, it's kitted with a wire basket (sometimes a wicker one in front) for grocery shopping and errands, as my urban utility bike.

Great to hear your story. These old Chromoly Specialized bikes were built to last.👍🏾

Chain stay mounted U-brake. My Raleigh Elkhorn has that too.

I've done long decents with this bike and the rear bottom mounted caliper did just fine. It never faded or got mushy. The pads to some adjusting but worked great.
      If you ride in muddy
conditions it with build up down there but just any other setup.

Hey, good looking old hopper - love the yellow! I just got a blue one (same year). How's the ride with the front rack? I've been experiencing a ton of wheel flop, and when I had a butcher's rack on the front with weight, it made the bike wander back and forth a lot. I'm running 2.35" tires at 25-30psi (this may be the issue). Just wondering how your experience has been since the geometry's the same!

The rack held up great for many miles on and offroad. I never had too much weight on it though. I'm running 26x2.1 tires. Welcome to the club.👍🏽

@@hammeredscout thanks! i ended up finding that running the tires around 40 psi on-road eliminated basically all the flop. pneumatic trail is a strange thing.

Any idea which bars those are exactly?

They are UNO brand. I don't remember the exact name. They were pretty inexpensive too.
