    I’m sure those pickups on the 7 string V are Thunderbird pickups, more people have been adding those on guitars because they have a really nice chimey quality to them. Smart too since they’re just rail pickups under the covers so they don’t need to worry about pole spacing

    *Gibson did make 12-string Firebirds but they were the non-reverse model* and they had the Les Paul/ES-headstock with a sweet split diamond inlay. They're actually really beautiful, I saw someone play one that had 6 tuner holes plugged once and that was a killer guitar

    Man, I don’t know how I have never noticed them before, but that black Firebird Custom at 0:50 is beautiful! For sure the pinstripe 12 string is something special, but that black one is a treat for the eyes.

    Relatively straight string pull on the headstock too. I love playing XII strings. I wish I had less guitars and more money. I’d pull the trigger on that bad boy. Right now I would have gone for it at $2500. 6k is nuts.

    As for those Toaster Cream Cheese P90s, it looks like the chrome open cover is just secured to the standard plastic P90 cream cover.
    Its a good look however I would imagine the metal open cover would ever so slightly affect the pickup's tone.
    In the same way removing a humbucker's cover kind of opens up the high-end a little bit.

    Les Paul Modern and Axcess should have Jumbo Frets. They have a plec machine for all the fret work so it would just be a different program. I can't see it being much more work for them. Also I don't understand why the axcess doesn't have a compound radius neck. I feel like they would sell more. Keep all the 50s and 60s style the same but change the modern and axcess

    A while back (like 1 1/2 months ago) demo shop sold a mod 50s LP goldtop that had a weird looking top color that the description said was a “relic”. I honestly just thought it was a messed up paint job that they were calling a relic. Always wanted to see if you caught that or were emailed about it. Maybe the buyer can share if it looked good; I thing it had black plastics too.

    Being almost 60 I get surprised when young players know such names as Alvin Lee. So many of the guys I meet today if they know such rock royalty they discount the contributions such people have made to the music world. They'd rather think current artists whoever they idolize were the field of what's happening in music today. I'm also curious if we would've gotten a better look at that blueberry burst LP with the two tone pickup rings of the back would've been tied to the lighter part of the ring finish. They studio you showed I agree whoever bought that blue art finished one got a gorgeous example and congratulations.

    Man that Pelham SG standard was a steal. At $1499 for a custom color SG standard when the regular transparent red ones are $1999. I would of bought that one if I’d seen it. I was literally looking at the Murphy aged Pelham blue SG’s last night and drooling over it. I can’t spend 6k on one though. But you can put a maestro tailpiece on that demo shop guitar & then change the plastics back to stock and you have a nice guitar at a fraction of the price.

    Look closely at the pinstriping paint job on that 12 string Firebird. Freeze the vide at 2:49. Look very closely at the bottom end of the instrument and you might see some things you cannot unsee. Methinks, whoever painted and finished that guitar was taking the proverbial.

  • @famachris
    @famachris 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Firebird is already prone to Headstock breaks. This one might break without an accident. Rickenbacker 12s have two truss rods to combat the tension. Many 60s Fender XIIs are beyond neck straightening as the truss has no more turns.

    That Cobalt Fusion finish is 100% copied on Jackson's Eerie Dess Swirl finish (although not as nice as most Jacksons) which is my favourite finish on a guitar ever and my dream, but being a lefty, apart from going custom shop that's not gonna happen. Still very cool to see that on a Les Paul!

  • @zacharywatson885
    @zacharywatson885 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is a GREAT idea on the 12! They should make Firebirds their standard 12 string platform. The 9 piece neck makes it super strong and the headstock shape doesn’t have to be modified. I know it is strange at first but isn’t anywhere near as strange as the SG with the huge headstock. Really wouldn’t be surprised to see this become more common. Kind of feels like it has been hiding in plain sight.
    Maybe a double neck? … The Inferno Bird

    Cool twelve string guitar. But traditionally, the higher pitched strings, which are tuned an octave higher, are strung closer to the high e string. Of course when the strings are the same pitch, as with the high e string and the b string it doesn't matter. These higher pitched strings are strung closer to the low e string, or as to the low e string, are strung away from the high e string.
    This is strung backwards..
    Who did this... Gibson? I've had several twelve string guitars, including one now, and none have ever been strung like this one....

    12 string firebirds were a thing, 66-67

    Killer night tonight. All guitars I would rock. In another life I’d buy them all.

    That was a bargain on the 7 string too! Why sell a bastardized 12 string for $6500 and a then the 7 for $2200? I’m totally confused about how Gibson is valuing guitars. You can’t get a decent 7 string for less than around 1k and that’s going to be a Schecter or something. But Schecter would sell that offset 12 string style for 700 bucks new. How is a non neck thru firebird with some extra strings twice as much as a Les Paul standard?

    Hi Giibson made a Firebird 12 String Way back in the 1960s I don’t know if it’s sold very well or not I really wish Giibson would make 12 string electric guitars like they did back in the 60s the ES3 3512 string that was a good guitar. And for that matter I wish Giibson would make the EB-2 Base again that was a really good bass.And maybe make the EB3 bass that would really be nice💰💰💰💰🎶🎶🎶🎶🎩🎩🎩

    It’s basically because a firebird headstock is way too damn big anyways lol

    I think the p90s in pickup rings are regular p90s with cream bobbins and no cover

    I think that the 12 string firebird is not neck thru... Anyway, gibson murdered their own design with the firebird lately... Can't they get a decent designer to re-do the original headstock to accomodate regular tuners? Because those plain flat headstocks on new firebirds look lame... I built several firebird guitars with original headstock design and put in regular tuners - and the strings go pretty straight after the nut so there are no tuning stability issues...

    Did you ever do a video about all of those Gibson guitars that had to be destroyed several years back? I remember seeing videos & pics of all of these blue, red etc Gibson guitars on the ground & being rub over by a bulldozer & I remember seeing some outcry about it but I don’t remember any of the details.

    In reference to that 12-string business is business it could be the rarest guitar in the world but if nobody wants it
