If I had to guess, it's long gone. Either was blown apart into 400 pieces shortly after...or was wrecked at some point and not saved. I can't imagine it still exists, with thieves trying to take the thing more than once, I don't believe they wanted to rip around in it. They wanted the parts.
theres some small points missing from the story.. the day after Joe found the guys trying to steal it, he added hood locks ,anti theft door lock knobs and a kill switch. (they got it anyway) the car also wasnt a COPO.. it was just a special order black car. COPO camaros werent built until a month after Joes car was delivered. Motion did not ever have any COPO cars. That is Joel Rosens own words.
Thanks for the video in 1976 I bought a 1970 Baldwin motion Chevelle from a buddy I no longer have the car I sold it 1980 that was stupid have a great day I enjoy your videos
My daughter was just given a 69 Super Sport Camaro convertible pace car edition. It needs total rebuild but will be well worth the work it’s been off the road for years!
My friend has a 1968 original Balwin Motion 427 Camero the first 427 blew up so he bought a matching numbers 427 from motopn and has it all in a heated garage in Queens NY
I think it was most likely parted out and cut up or crushed, but I’d love to believe it’s still out there somewhere, maybe even restored as an SS396 because all of the Motion-specific mods were long gone.
Nice work on the video! I think the car is hidden in someone's garage still around that area it was stolen. Probably painted another color and still all together! Even the biggest criminals would not have destroyed that car.
Good Video but Joe should have got a 69 RA IV GTO - Heres a cool one were Joe Oldham ( Cars HP Magazine ) took a 69 RA IV 400 Firebird street racing Cheater slicks and all and blew the New York area street Rats etc. into the weeds - also You didn't mention Royal Pontiac or Nunzi their prepared Pontiacs would give those Chevy's all they could handle and then some 😎
I was in a book store looking at that book when it came out and my jam dropped because there was a b&w photo of my boss /mentor running his 69 charger on the Street with a $ sign in window in 1970
I currently own a 1967 ,L78 Camaro,SS sold new ar Baldwin Chevrolet, needs restored very solus metal and a letter from GM saying it was sold from Balwin motors ,for sale
The 69 i had in92 /2010 was supposed stolen in 69 off the lot & ended up at a junkyard, this guy put a small block auto,i found the build sheet on top of the gas tank.. so eating up, nut you could see it said copo & just dots in those boxes.. does it mean anything good?
you wouldnt know if you found the block.. the original was pulled for the 427. over the counter blocks are stamped CE for counter exchange and theres literally hundreds of them left.
I doubt they will ever find it, probably gutted and crushed to hide the evidence. I read Joe’s book and still own to this day. It’s a good read if you want unbiased opinions on the popular muscle cars of the day.
all about the money. as a kid we would rip the 307 out and shove in a had made monster to blow this away....for god sake don,t take the 307 emblems off shhh that was good times.
Where do you think the car is today?
With Jim Morrison's '67 GT500.

It was probably parted out and will never be found.
I think it became a "match race" car that may or may not have been on your channel already :)

I remember reading about this car in Muscle Car ( i think) in the 80s . I love Baldwin cars and that Camaro just looks wicked!

They didn’t make 69’ Pace Cars in black , they were only offered in Dover White !
@@dariussimon5134 it’s not black it’s white with orange stripes
Imagine watching one of your favorite TH-cam pages. And seeing your very own car on it 😮. Thats my Barnfind Norms Super Bee.😁
Nailed it .. best one you’ve ever done so far 🔥🔥

Dreaming dreams is much fun! Where will our imagination take us today!
good story...He should have known they were coming back for it
Enjoy the story very much....💯🙂👍🙏🏁
Next time you do a vid on my father and his car you should give me and or Marty Schorr a call. Best, Scott Oldham
Cool story, that's the first time I've heard it
Great video. Keep up the good work.

In my garage is my 1968 Barracuda fastback powered by a 512 stroker backed by an A833 4 speed manual and my 1972 Nova SS. 👍
What magazine issues was it in? Did his book say?? I bought a mag from late 80s early 80s that had Joes car in it
I was in a book store looking at that book when it came out and my jam dropped because there was a b&w photo of my boss /mentor running his 69 charger on the Street with a $ sign in window in 1970

Interesting
I'd be willing to bet the idiot thieves had no idea what they had stolen and it ended up being chopped up.

That thing was probably chopped within a few days of being stolen, you might find the engine block some day
you wouldnt know if you found the block.. the original was pulled for the 427. over the counter blocks are stamped CE for counter exchange and theres literally hundreds of them left.
That's a shame, poor car.
Rusted away. Unless the thieves drove it to California or Arizona.
I'm here tool say i couldn't keep a beautiful good. Car in the 60s first 61 impall bubble top stole never saw again . Bought 68 442 beautiful stole.
I doubt they will ever find it, probably gutted and crushed to hide the evidence. I read Joe’s book and still own to this day. It’s a good read if you want unbiased opinions on the popular muscle cars of the day.
Sadly the car was probably completely torn down and sold for parts!
If you cant make a 68 GTO with a 400 competitive in 1969....You dont deserve a COPO. Couldnt have happened to a more deserving fool.
Action clips were from Autotopiala
Kick arse car!
Post the VIN
They didn’t have to refund a single car
Anyone can build a better one today. Only takes money.
Most likely went to a junkyard and was parted out never to be seen again
Yeee Yeee
The story always sounded fishy to me we’re are the pictures recites excetra to prove the dtiry

69 Camaro's Rule!
It must be an east coast thing, like yellow high beams, I always thought Baldwin Motion cars looked like crap.
