- Legendary producer and director Ridley Scott goes through a complete timeline of Ridley Scott movies from his first effort - a short called Boy and Bicycle in 1965 - to The Duellists, the Alien franchise, Blade Runner, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator, The Martian, and ending with All the Money in the World.
Ridley Scott directed "All the Money in the World" released in theaters on 12/25.

Shame such a great director has a 'complete timeline' that consist of only an 8 minute video.....
It would have taken longer if the video wasn't focused on specific films. Didnt you notice how more than half the flicks weren't mentioned?
@@jesschilders2333 I would gladly have preferred to watch the real full video if it exists. Just as I gladly watch the extended, director's cut and unrated versions of all of his films where they exist. Because he is the best director!

He deserves a lifetime achievement award for Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise and Gladiator all of which he should've won an Oscar for.

There is absolutely no doubt that he will receive a lifetime achievement Oscar, it's just a matter of when. I wish they would do it while he is still alive.

Say what you will about some of his films, the guy is a machine.
sometimes a script may be lacking , but i struggle to ever fault his direction.
He's kind of like Walt Disney. In that he's great At directing, adapting. And above all making money. Out of material other people have written.
Alien and Bladerunner alone could've been a great career, let alone the rest of his works.
That is because he pretty much NEVER composes alone.. I can't believe he took the glory and made it sound like he composed the theme to pirates of the caribbean himself. It was Klaus Badelt who composed the main theme; and that's how it is for almost all movies... Hans Zimmer is not a person, but a company that hires a lot of composers and orchestrators. Hans Zimmer the person formidable businessman, but actually pretty crappy composer
Also, he has a private studio. PRIVATE. He doesn't rent it out to 3rd party engineers or composers. This proves he is a composer.
If you still want to be ignorant about the issue check out his Masterclass set of videos.
He needs his own documentary, like how Spielberg did with HBO.

Doing the math, he was 41 when he directed Alien. That's crazy.
It really is never too late. Unless you're one of those ones who are over 41. But I know that those people don't exist I've got plenty time.

The fact that he didn't get the Best Director Oscar nomination for All The Money In The World AFTER he pulled off the impossible feat of replacing one of the 3 lead actors at the last minute still stuns me
I've seen things you People wouldn't believe, really makes that moment, I'm so happy to hear Roy the actor played a part in writing that line, and Ridley allowed it. So cool!

Ridley you gave me my favorite movie of all time, Blade Runner, I will always be grateful for this masterpiece and I'm saddened by Rutger's death as he was an excellent person in real life and that translated into the role that gave the soul in that movie, his role.
The Xenomorph is easily the greatest movie created monster of all time. The design is just completely unique and terrifying. It's both beautiful and disgusting at the same time because of how perfectly made it is.

Ridley Scott is the one overlooked director. I know he's not a filmmaker to win an Oscar but I still hope he'll win a competitive Oscar which will be for his career at this point if he gets an honorary Oscar to me that's a Booby prize, Oscar. If he stops making those awful Alien prequels then the DGA and Academy will take him more seriously he's the best director working today.
He should have 5 Oscars minimum

My favourite director, love even his lesser appreciated films like Black Rain, Body of Lies, American Gangster, Kingdom of Heaven, The Duelists . A long with all the classics, Alien, Bladerunner, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down etc... so many works of art.

All his films are visually stunning!! the way he films is 5 star! just a few script problems here and there :) I love Black Rain and I could say a lot about all his films but one that impressed me was Black Hawk Down! it was so busy!! loads of action going on but he was able to film it in a way that you knew what was going on!! and who was who!! unlike directors such as Michael Bay! who creates a bunch of mess and you lose track of whats going on

WOW!!! He was 42 when he directed Alien (1979). And that movie is what made him BIG in the US!! Usually some young directors quit in their 20s and 30s because they can never make a movie, but his BIG BREAK came @ 42!! That's cool!! Which is awesome because Im 34 and I still have time to make it big as a director. Morale of the story, NEVER GIVE UP YOUR BEAUTIFUL DREAMS!!!!

I've taken a genuine interest in many of the films that Ridey Scott spoke about. He certainly gave a pretty sanitised version for some of his films.
This man is a master of his craft. Underrated.

Black Rain is a great film..revisited it myself a coupe of weeks ago.
I remember going to the cinema to see it-good film.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see how many in the comment section remember Black Rain. Very good, gritty action/cop thriller. I love the chemistry between Michael Douglas and Ken Takakura.
This is a great series. Do one with David Lynch. He has such a unique personality and some great stories about his films that would be great to see.
Omitted his best - Black Rain,Blackhawk Down and Kingdom of Heaven.
christopher plumber's green screening into all the money in the world is SEEMLESS and deserves a watch just for that alone (it also happens to be one of Scott's best movies).
