      would love for you to design a front wheel drive add on hub set up to adapt to a RAD Rover... I know there are cheap front wheel drive kits we can figure out half cocked ways to attach and run but i also know you could design a great plug and play kit that wound be easily installed and fit as if the bike was meant to be all wheel drive.....

      A few months back I went to my local bike shop for a helmet. I said it needed to provide safety in a crash. Ideally be highly visible colors for safety being seen. Weight isn't a huge deal; most of my trips are under a half hour and my ride will be done before weight is an issue. It doesn't need to be aero, because I'm a fat middle aged(*) guy and nothing about me is aero. (* and middle age depending on how wide a range you imagine the middle to be)

      I like my Sena M1. It looks good (for a helmet), it’s comfortable, has rear lights and Bluetooth communication. Sound would be better if less tinny, however. Safety, then comfort, followed by aesthetics.

    I once heard a Dutchman claim that the main reason so few Dutch (city) cyclists wear helmets, and correlatively why there are so few serious bicycle-motor vehicle accidents/injuries, is that every Dutchman who owns a car also owns a bicycle (and thus respects and obeys motor-vehicle/cyclist safety rules).

    • @RichardsWorld
      @RichardsWorld 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not. I went to Amsterdam a few years ago and it was unbelievable how many bikes you see riding or locked up. And me and my friend would make many Dutch people mad because we were walking on what we thought it just a sidewalk, but I guess it is for bicycle use only. So many people got mad at us, they are very serious about biking to work or school.

    • @ceterisparibus51
      @ceterisparibus51 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RichardsWorld I think you misunderstood my comment. What I am saying, or rather what I've heard, is that urban Dutchmen have great respect for the cycling rules of the road because the vast majority of them are cyclers (and don't take kindly to those who break the rules).

    I wear a Kali Invader with my ebikes. It is well made, safe and I get a claustrophobic feeling in a lot of helmet and not the Kali. It fits wearing glasses also. I'm a definite fan of the Kali Invader.

  • @Robnord1

    I am considering their full face 'Zoka' helmet. As I got speed wobbles on a 35mph downhill the other day I was thinking...Us e-bikers with our cute little light weight helmets and no body protection are subject to the same trauma as if in a crash on my motorcycle. Not similar. Same. What are we thinking? I'm fixing that in 2020. Life is too short, and recovering from crashes sucks. Our 10 ounce foo-foo designer helmets offer the same protection as those ridiculous skull caps I see on some (HD) motorcyclists. Let's be real here.

    I got a full faced one for the roads around where I live , the hills are massive as . Hate to imagine coming off at speed . Or hitting a car etc . I flew over handle bars head first with a half helmet and it split in two . Almost died so many times on the roads around here . I just got a new mountain bike for riding where ever , and then thought maybe a full faced one would be a good idea . It has many vents also . When a big crashes let me tell you , it will be out of the blue . I would rather save my face as well lol . One time I was going down this hill and I had disk brakes and it was a windy road , I had to drift left and right because of the ice . I had the brakes on the whole time and they wouldn't stop me . Then I had to drift around the front of this car through the round about that didn't give way . Most adrenaline I have ever felt in my life . I value my life more now because I'm older . My mum told me how a cousin of hers died on the roads where I live , they got hit by a car . So maybe just maybe the full faced helmet might save my life .

    Yes, we need something a bit beefier for e-bikes, especially off roading. I've gone off the trail at 35 mph, and I'm glad there was no big rocks where I landed. For me, I have to choose between a bicycle helmet or my DOT motorcycle helmet, and I prefer the motorcycle helmet, except when it's hot. The full face helmet would fill the gap between the two. Is there a face shield available, or would I need to get goggles as well?

      This is why I went with a hi-viz AFX motorcycle helmet (ece 22.05 standard). Too many helmet companies go for stealth and that's the last thing I need when I'm riding around (and as a driver I really appreciate people who wear bright colors) [edit - spelling]

    Kindly do not recommend any helmet type other than fully face for ebike riders. "Bicycle" half-head helmets are joke and should become illegal.
    .
    IMO, modulars are the best offering all options when needed: turns to full-face when going fast, visor(s) protect your face and eyes when needed against dust, rain, sun, etc., cut outs to place speakers of bluetooth headset, fairly ventilated or with vents closed for winter to keep it warm and cozy.
