  • A photo walk on a sunny day in London as I shoot with Kodak Gold 200 film and the Leica M6 camera. Plus, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the new Leica SL3!
Big thanks to Jack for joining me for the day and another thank you to Red Dot Cameras for allowing us to get our hands on the SL3! Always a great time spent in that store.

Nice work! great shots on that sweet Kodak Gold. Especially love the toning in the shots around the bank area.

Such a great camera to use and to just look at when at home on a shelf! Makes you want to pick it up everyday. If you can save for one I believe it feeds the soul and in doing so improves you as a photographer. What are you shooting on at the moment?

The SL2 lol. “Now it’s almost as good as an a7rv, just 3x the cost”

Leica cameras aren’t all that. It’s the Leica glass that dominates the other brands. Sony needs to work on their colour science. They make everyone look like they’ve been tangoed! However you can’t knock there auto focus and low light capabilities. For that… they lead the market by a long distance! 3x the cost is a small price to pay for a camera I want to use every day. A Sony would be a paperweight for me. If Leica didn’t exist I would go straight to Canon. Then Nikon before even looking at Sony.

Enjoyed this! I've been shooting the M6 with both the 35mm and 50mm Voigtlander lenses. Grew up with a 50mm attached to my Nikon FE2 so I'm always drawn to that focul length. I loved how you engaged with people. I've been pushing myself to do more street portraits and am surprised at how open people are. Great content! Subbed!

Ahh man thanks for taking the time to comment. Sounds like you have a rich history with photography. It’s very welcomed here! Iv never been one for a 50mm, I think I would need to train my mind. As for moving imagery I still always preferred the 35mm crossed with 85mm rather than the 24 and 50. Those Voigtlander are beyond value for money!! So so good and also enjoyable to use

Really like it when people tell me their favourite frames. It’s a nice insight and everyone likes different ones for different reasons! So thank you. I love good. I think due to costs as well it’s my go to film stock but it is seasonal here in the UK. Love Portra too but that’s an obvious choice! Any stocks you favour?

Share your experience and tips for such desperate photos as the one at 3:26. You do it so openly and are not afraid of possible conflicts with the people you are photographing. I can't bring myself to take photos in the same way and miss out on good shots because of it.
    Thank you 🙏

    • @jamie.dop_

That’s very honest of you. Sometimes I feel it’s the photographers energy and behaviours that allow that energy to be reflected in the subject. So as someone like yourself who may handle themselves with a calmness and softer approach, you may be able to bring out a side completely different to your subject which may not be achieved by someone with my approach. So it’s interesting to think how your shots would have turned out in these situations. I’m sure you would have caught some goodens. J

On the contrary. I like your style, so direct and uncompromising, clear and bold. I want to take pictures of people in the same open way, but I'm afraid of their negative reactions and the consequences that will follow after I intrude on their personal space. How do you resolve conflicts during your walks with the camera, and do they ever arise? @@jamie.dop_

@@_Pechkin conflicts happen rarely however they do happen. I am always incredibly nice and polite which is a natural reaction but also there to diffuses the situation…. If the softness and forgiveness doesn’t come in from the subject then I turn it on and stand tall. It is not against the law to take photos of people on the street and you shouldn’t be made to feel bad. As long as you have not intimidated or made people feel unsafe you have no reason to take any crap!

Mate…. Anywhere is expensive compared to New York! America get all the best sh*t! Mr Cad is the best shop. Right now (26th March) Jessops are doing a class deal on Kodak Gold 35mm. If not I also keep an eye on selfridges who randomly do some good deals on Lomo. Anyway, thanks for dropping a message. J
