Hi Heidi: Thanks for your tour of all your delightful hydrangea's. I am just trying to figure out what to plant in the garden with mine. Have some ideas now from watching your video. Appreciate all the knowledge you share!
Gorgeous ❤I'm totally loving mine first timer Firelight Tidbit & Tuff Stuff Ah-ha. Always love seeing all the kinds of varieties Getting Bobo tomorrow. Cheers from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦
Hello Heidi. I can’t wait to see the Little Quick hydrangeas reach full size. I planted a 1 gal. In my garden last Summer so it’s still quite small. I’m planning on moving it next Spring to a much larger spot so it can have plenty room to grow.
Beautiful! I’ve added a few of these to my garden in Georgia. Unfortunately deer ate my Bobos early on. They’ve leafed back out but I’m not sure if I’ll see flowers.
Beautiful and informative! I am interested in a comparison of Tiny Quickfire with Bobo since they are similarly sized but I haven’t seen much information showcasing Tiny Quickfire.
Loved this video! I'm in Georgia zone 8a. I have Little Limes, Little Lime Punches and a Limelight Prime in my yard. I will be adding another one soon to another area -- probably another Little Lime Punch. I just love the compact growth habit. What type of fertilizer are you using and how often are you fertilizing? They are all so beautiful!
@@aguilar4510 Three of my Little Limes are in full sun (10a-430P). Another one in my backyard doesn't get sun until around 11am then is in full sun until the sun goes down. The Little Lime Punches are in a area that gets a combination of full/part sun/filtered sun throughout the day. The Limelight Prime is in full sun from 10a until around 5pm. I make sure I give them plenty of water and they seem to be handling it well.
Heidi !!! This is such a great video that can be used over and over for reference for anyone Including me in starting a garden or picking the perfect hydrangea. You said you would fertilize .. Do you fertilize weekly and with what type of fertilizer? Thank you so much 😍😍😍
Hi Heidi! 👋 I garden in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast. Very hot and humid 🥵 and pretty much no shade since neighbors cut down their huge Oak. We have a big leaf that suckered from the neighbors yard to ours. It just takes over suckering with 1 bloom per stalk. 😕 After hurricane 🌀 Beryl hit we cut them all down, and there are so many suckers coming up, and we dont want that. If I were to get a hydrangea it would have to forever be in a pot. Would the Firelight Tid Bit be good for our heat and humidity? Any suggestions? Thank you for sharing this great and informative video with us.
For the bobo hydrangeas you mentioned regular fertilization. Can you please elaborate on that? Do you fertilize with liquid bloom booster type every week, or do you do once a month slow release, or something else? They are just gorgeous! Thanks!
In this bed only, they get water from the greenhouse that has a diluted fertilizer in it with every watering. We recommend for 'normal' applications to fertilize in the spring. The petunias and other annuals in this bed need fertilizer more often.
I love your videos, and have learned a lot. I'm wondering why it is difficult to find videos on the Little Lime Hydrangea. I recently bought three Little Limes (the Limelight is too large for my yard) and would love to see how it looks in all Sean's and it's growth habits.
Great video. I know you've pointed out the lime green plants that edge the landscape and eventually grow together. They run in front of the Puffer Fish. What is their name, again?
Hi Heidi, I always learn so much from your videos! There is always so much inspirational beauty, too! How often do you fertilize your hydrangeas? Also, I live in Texas where the hydrangeas turn brown before they turn pink, as you mentioned. Should I deadhead in this particular case or do they ever turn pink (after browning)? Do the blooms up north turn pink before they brown? Thank you, Heidi!
Thank you for asking. In the north they go from white to pink and then brown. They wont turn pink after they brown. You can leave the brown blooms on for interest or you can trim them off.
I am in Toronto and my little lime punch turns a slight blush and then turn to a greenish brown. Not sure the reason. So sad😭 Was waiting to see the blooms take on the deep punch colour, but it is not happening 😢
@@gardencrossings I always water at the base, but we have had a lot of rain. Maybe this could be a reason too. Other than the colour, the plant looks very healthy.
@@gardencrossings It does get overhead water from our sprinkler system, but not enough. I try to water it from the base 2-3 x’s/week. It does get a lot of sun. The blooms are beautiful until they start to change color.
Thank you very much! Perhaps you could revise your titles for each section. 5:48 should be labeled Limelight and Limelight Prime, 7:15 should be labeled Firelight Tidbit and 8:25 should be labeled Quickfire Fab and Puffer Fish.
Giving me everything I want right now, so pretty! I’d love to see a video with each one in their peak color, IDK if it would feel choppy though since they won’t happen at the same time. Do you find Limelight Prime’s blooms significantly smaller than Limelight’s? Mine look about a 1/3 the size or like Nerf footballs vs full size ones that Limelight gets. Both are on irrigation and get the same amount of fertilizer.
This was a Great video. I have a narrow planting area between a small lawn and a very tall yew hedge. The planting area is part shade, and to lighten and show up the area and offset looking at a green ‘wall’, I was thinking of planting 3 white hydrangeas, a few feet apart. I was thinking something in the 3’ height would be best, maybe a little taller. Because this area is part shade, and would compete with roots of the yew and lawn, would puffer fish stay on the lower height level of 3 to 3 1/2 feet? Maybe 4’? What do you think? I have macrophylla planted there now, and they droop terribly onto the lawn, look messy, and this is the first time in a number of years they have bloomed. (It was a great hydrangea year in Massachusetts this year!) Originally I was thinking of the bobo, but after seeing this video I am interested in the puffer fish because it stays white, and later doesn’t go to lime or pink. I lt would go in the rear of the small and narrow back yard. Thank you!v I am on the coast of Massachusetts, now 7a. Also, I wanted to plant something in a 2 or 3 gallon size. Would you be getting that size in stock?
In the island they get a diluted dose of water soluble fertilizer everytime the drippers drip. The drippers are hooked to the greenhouse water line which has fertilizer in it. The fertilizer is more for the annuals but the hydrangeas get it as well.
I’m in Columbia, SC and have some Phantom Hydrangea. I fertilized them in the spring and planted them last summer. I have not had more than 3 blooms on my plants. What could be causing this?

Such a great video showing us how the growth habits and flowers compare. So neat to see how the pink coloration varies in each variety.
Yes, it is nice they dont all color up at the same time.
Hi Heidi 🌺.wondeful view of these stunning tybes of the hydrangeas . They are so pretty . Have a great day .🌺🌻🌺

Absolutely beautiful display of hydrangeas!

Better to move them when they are young. Much easier.

Lol. They are a unique flower form

Thanks for following along
Thanks Heidi from close to your area G.H. now in G.R. MI.❤😊
Stop out and see us if you haven't already.
Wow I better move my bobo’s, they are also on drip!! Thank you for the video :)

Those bobos 😍
Thanks 🥰

I may have missed this but what fertilizer do you use on your hydrangeas? 💮
Loved and appreciated this video. I live in 7a, hot and humid. Which hydrangea would you recommend for open sun exposure please?
You could go with the Panicles or the Smooth Hydrangeas in full sun. They do like daily watering though.

Please do a comparison with big leaf hydrangeas next !!
That's an idea. I will see if the trial garden has a bunch of varieties I can do side by side of.

That is Sedum Lemon Coral, an annual here in MI
In the last segment showing the Pufferfish, little lime punch, what are the bright green plants in the very front? Thanks
Thanks for subbing. Those are the annual Lemon Coral Sedum

I have that problem with my little quick fire. I faithfully water it . I’m zone 5.
Do you over head water or water at the base? Sometimes this can make a difference.

Mine are burned up already, I’m in zone 9 🙄 mine get morning sun afternoon shade and incrediball and a limelight. 🤷♀️ I love hydrangeas ❤
Yes in the heat of the south unfortunately the pink doesn't show up.

I think they are similar in size. Sometimes you will see a size difference depending on when they were last trimmed.
bobo's are as big as my limelights! lol
tell me how much/how often they get the fert.!
What small shrub lined the walkway in front of those beautiful hydrangeas?
At what time in the video are you referring to?

I think Puffer Fish would work for what you are describing. We only grow gallons, they are very big and full right now.
How often do you fertilize your hydrangeas at Garden Crossing?
When you say your hydrangeas get regular fertilizer, can you explain more please?
In the island they get a diluted dose of water soluble fertilizer everytime the drippers drip. The drippers are hooked to the greenhouse water line which has fertilizer in it. The fertilizer is more for the annuals but the hydrangeas get it as well.
Is this one firelight plant or more together?
That is 1 Fire Light in each of the 2 locations in this garden.
What are rhe purple plants next to the bobos in the beginning of the video?
Those are Verbena Meteor Showers.
I’m in Columbia, SC and have some Phantom Hydrangea. I fertilized them in the spring and planted them last summer. I have not had more than 3 blooms on my plants. What could be causing this?
Usually this is because deer are munching, could that be the case? Thanks for subbing
Do you cut back any of your hydrangeas in the fall?
Yes we do. They all get a 1/3 trim and sometimes they get more. The only ones that dont get trimmed are the Bigleaf hydrangeas.
