Thank you for sharing. I really am not a favorite of grasses, but there a couple that actually caught my eye. That's why I enjoy watching your channel because you have changed my view on some of the flowers you have presented.
Hi Heidi 🌺. Wonderful infomation about these grasses and I will add some of them . I have gaura plants and I love their movement. Have a great day .🌺🌻🌺
Oh my goodness!❤. Love , Loved the Nursery and the Gardens . I’m totally in Aw of you an Rod. I didn’t want to leave. 😂 sat in the blue chairs for almost 30 minutes just looking around .
I am in zone 7B. I planted feather falls in a full sun location last year and it survived our winter - stayed green thoughout (although our winter was mild last year). We did have about 7 days of snow on it. It only gets watered when we get rain, It still looks great and has grown throughout the summer in heavy clay soil. It is my favorite.
Thank you for sharing . Enjoy watching your videos. Always learning something from then. I do have a question: What are the trees against the building?
Love to see the native grasses getting more attention. I have two "Cheyenne Sky" Panicums in the yard, so seeing them in a mature size was very helpful. One thing I've never understood is this talk about how wide the grasses are at maturity. The Totem Pole, for example, is 4' wide when mature, but is that the diameter at the base where it goes into the ground? Or is that the spread of the top of the vase structure? Seeing that Niagara Falls makes me wonder if it wouldn't be a good hedge. I'm torn between that and the Cape Breeze panicum.
@@gardencrossings That's good to know. I like that Totem Pole as you showed it, but it wouldn't work well for me if the base gets 4' in diameter after a few years.
Always wanted to know, if you can help me, distinguish how to determine a carex, penisetum, miscanthus… in other words what characteristics differentiate them? I will appreciate any input, thank you and love love your videos.
I just bought the Niagara Falls grass. Can I plant that now in the fall? I am in Michigan zone 6A. I have heard it’s a warm weather grass so it should be planted in the spring. I do have a small greenhouse I could put it in for the winter if I should not plant it now.

Thank you. I am glad you are finding new options.
Love these different types & how you demonstrate their unique features,Heidi ! 🌞
Glad you like them!
Ooh love grasses :) thank you for this info!!
You are so welcome!
Great idea for a video. I’m starting to love the grasses , they are beautiful and the deer don’t seem to bother with them
You are right. Deer friendly
Fall is my favorite time in the garden. And love the colors, textures and movement that a variety of grasses can make.
It does have a unique and beautiful look
Love this video Heidi! I plan on putting a lot of grasses in my next garden. Loved seeing them all compared.
You are welcome

It is a great plant. I hope that we can get some for our website this coming season.
My Feather Falls grass is in full sun from sun up, to sun down, zone 7A/7B. It looks great all year long.
That is great to know that even in a warm zone it can handle full sun. Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you for the wealth of information!
Our pleasure!
Gran demostracion

Unfortunately I am not sure. This is not at Garden Crossings

The spread usually refers to the over all widest spot.

I am growing that plant in zone 9 in full afternoon sun.
That is great!
Thanks for a grass video. Are the grasses labeled at Walters Garden?
Yes they are. You may have to pick up the grass blades if they are covered.

Usually the easiest way to tell them apart in the plumes or seed heads.
Do the grass seeds or roots spread under ground ?
Some grass may seed. Most of what we have in our garden, the clump gets larger each year.

One question that may help you decide is, how wet is the space in the fall/winter? If it stays on the wet side, don’t plant- grasses are prone to rot.
Usually fall planting is not a problem.
Hello. Do the grasses spread by their seed or are they sterile? Thank you!
So grasses to spread by seed so you would want to find that our per variety.
@@gardencrossings Thank you!
