    We were in Patong about 8 years ago and it was quite cheap but we just got back from a 2 week holiday last week (March 2023) and Patong has just become so expensive. A beer in the main areas is just as expensive as home plus everyone is after a tip. You can get cheaper if you look but buyer beware. Also I would suggest to avoid the main part of Paton beach as it is a little stale, not to fresh smelling. Try some of the other beaches i.e. Surin Beach where they are cleaner. This video really highlights some of the issues you will face in Patong so do your homework so you do not get ripped off.

    I am using these videos to help prepare for my anniversary next December with my wife. I told her we need to save $8k for our entire thailand trip to be comfy for spending. Like we have a 22 day trip planned for Thailand and with what we have, it is looking like a $22,000 trip easily. And part of that is because I heard Phuket is getting more and more expensive.

    Been in Patong in December 2022, cool time. Average meal in a good place is 250 Baht, beer around 100 Baht if I remember right, so cmon, 1K+ a day per person is max. Alcohol in 711 is pretty much EU prices, so stock on that and spend $ only on food, may be occasional tuk-tuk (they're nuts, so demand 200 baht within Patong). Also, must add, if you visit markets and some small local places - u can get tons of amazing food for like 100 Baht max.

    I watched a lot of videos featuring Patong Beach and the other vloggers say it is extremely inexpensive there. A cheap T-shirt bought in Miami Beach would cost 682 Baht, where a T-shirt in Patong would be 200. A massage in Miami would cost 3408 Baht versus 200 in Patong. A cheap hotel in Miami would cost 10,000 Baht per night versus 2000 in Patong. While those prices may be high for the area, overall they are very reasonable. I guess its all relative.

    It is no surprise that things get expensive globally, more so when it comes to the beach or recreation locations, very glad that the bargaining is mentioned here, "shop around first", be careful though, your spouse or mate who are not familiar with the bargaining might perceive that you are being a "cheapskate", enough to ruin your trip and more. Great video, the tourists will appreciate your valuable advice.

    • @InJouHande
      @InJouHande 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Our beer is usually R30 in a bar here in South Africa. That's U$D1,60. A more upscale place? Probably U$D3, max.

    Did the phi phi tour on speed boat (the fastest boat) I got it for 75 euro, it was a full day trip doing a few of the islands including Maya beach where the movies where shot such as the one with Leonardo Dicaprio. Anyways just leaving this in the comments for those of you who might be going there so you can see what price you can get but honeslty I didn't feel the tour was that good, you only get to spend like 45 min to an hour and half on some of the tours destinations.
    I would recommend just choosing an island and chilling there one full day and night and like leaving the following day in the evening back to phuket, like that you will get too enjoy cause I literally spent more time on the speed boat then abything else 😅

The excursions in Phuket have been hijacked by muslim operators and if you have a trip to say Phi Phi where lunch is included but you cannot even get a beer with your lunch or even bring a beer or any alcohol with you for lunch. So if you enjoy a beer or wine with your meal then make sure you book a tour with a non muslim operator. Ask before you book the same is happening in Krabi.
