- Unveiled after nightfall at the majestic Gateway of India in Mumbai, the Dior Fall 2023 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri is a passionately conceived, personal and profoundly respectful tribute to the subcontinent’s crafts and colors. Featuring soft, layered silhouettes, archival motifs, sari-inspired draping, and the exceptional handwork of the Chanakya ateliers, this illumination of Indian culture and textile prowess blends seamlessly with the House’s own perpetual devotion to savoir-faire excellence.
Live Music Composed and conducted by Oliver Coates. Tablas & Multi Percussions by Anuradha Pal. With the musicians of the Symphony Orchestra of India. Indian instruments by Imran Khan, Chetan Joshi , Sangeet Mishra, Tushar Raturi. Contains excerpts of 'Speaking In Tongues I’and 'Om Namaha Shiva’ by Sheila Chandra.

The musicians deserves a standing ovation, people who understands classical music they know how heavenly and pure the blend is. I'm Indian, I am trained in Indian classical music also have knowledge in western classical. This is pure "A" class master pieces. not to mention the beautiful; collection, mesmerizing.

@@fritzravanes2220 I believe there was no 'song' here, it was like an orchestra, I could be wrong though and maybe I couldn't identify. You can search for tabla, sitar/tanpura and flute music those were the 3 most prominent Indian instruments and check for fusion with classic Orchestra music

1. 8:06 -10:06 lat uljhi suljha ja balam
(It's a Hindustani classical music piece)
2. 12:17 - 14:12: Ghoomar ramva (It's a Rajasthani Folk song)
3. Om Namah Shivaya (That I assume is being sung by a choir there)
You would not find a definite artist for any but would find the music on TH-cam for sure. There are many rendition available.

Some of these dresses were actually super pretty like also loved the use of Indian pink and intense violet colours mainly originated from India. So beautiful

The beautifully hand embroidered toran gate amidst the backdrop of historic Gateway of India....the Rangolis, diyas and blend of Indian Classical music with western Orchestra.... fully mind blowing setup...great work Dior team for the event ❤❤

Indian culture is so beautiful. The live music, location and colors of the collection so pretty. I love that Dior shows in so many great places around the world. Was surprised with the platform flip flops for Fall..lol but I remember that this look was also big in the late 90's. ❤

Es muy interesante cómo recupera la indumentaria de la India sin imitarla, el concepto de la envoltura del sayri, las chaquetas masculinas. Las telas de seda, con los bordados y como rescata los colores de los textiles y lleva un color a una pieza única. Debe ser muy interesante un año de trabajo en Dior en estos momentos, como experiencia. La recuperación y valorización, a través de la indumentaria y el textil en la moda, de tradiciones textiles ancestrales y que dieron de ellas en su momento a lo que actualmente es y ha sido desde más de dos siglos la industria textil y luego el sistema de la moda. Me encanta cómo en las últimas temporadas se entrecruzan tradiciones textiles y de indumentaria de todo el mundo. Qué suerte tienen quienes tienen las posibilidades de crear y materializar esto, hermoso trabajo. ❤

The fact that the runway is actually a 20th century monument, the Gateway of India - blows my mind 🤯 the flower rangoli looks absolutely stunning and the whole collection and vibe of the show is so classic ❤

I love when Maria travels..its almost like she comes alive...such a great ambassador for fashion because as she travels she's highlighting local craftsmen. I dont know her but I bet this is where her passion lies. I loved the collection,The show setting was hauntingly beautiful. The music was EPIC. The pearl chokers unnecessary.

Was absolutely so beautiful to watch. Felt so proud of India and kudos to Dior for bringing the show to India this time with such a bang. This is the best start one could ask for! The whole set with lights, embroidered entry way, the ramp, the fusion western and Indian classical music, the beautiful colour progression, the beautiful formations and symmetry, the beautiful outfits, bags and of course models. All in all, it was so thrilling to watch!

Absolutely beautiful collection Ms. Dior! Congratulations! There were many I could actually see myself wearing. The rich hues of scarlet, purple and lime green were captivating. Was waiting for this for years and was expecting something spectacular like the famous Valentino show, but somehow something was missing 1st the light wasn't good at all and second INDIA has such an incredible heritage craft that would perfectly fit for a spectacular couture collection than a ready to wear collection.

Love the exhibition. Music is the appropriate and gives the atmosphere a sense of calm and cultutal background. Clothing and textiles couldn’t be more appropriate. One shoulder, dresses with long V necks, fluid pants with kind of tunics in neutral colors. Sandals and accessories that enhance the pieces. The palette was very wide. A beautiful collection, fluid, wearable and elegant at the same time. LOVE IT! .

This was a good show. Looking forward for those long skirts in vibrant colours. Also, the music was a very good fusion between classical Indian and western orchestra ensemble, which is an art in itself to get the two merging together!

What a stunning collection; every single piece just so beautiful and just love the fabrics. Love love seeing evening dresses being worn with flip flops, this HAS to become a thing, so much better than having to wear high heels the whole evening. Would buy every single piece in the collection... if only I could! 😀

This reminds me of Dior 1996 Haute Couture By Gianne France Ferre, inspired by Indian Craftsmanship, with Yasmeen Ghauri as his muse for the collection. This is so enchanting and reminiscent of an era everyone craved to be a part of because of the supermodels and the designers who reached their zenith of creativity yet kept it traditional!
