You are truly a girl after my own heart. I myself am a collector of old cookbooks. My favorite ones are church and community cookbooks because you know they are tried and true recipes. No one wants to submit a recipe with their name on it unless it's their very favorite. I am so glad my daughter sent me a link to your channel. I have been binge watching for days. 😊

What an awesome find. I wish you where my neighbor so I could share some of my massive collection I inherited from my Mother in Law. Who by the way had no clue how to cook. She saved everything if it had a recipe. Watching your videos and loving them. I will have to pull out a few and find some vintage recipes to make. Oh and yes I have an old Sunbeam mixer with the two bowl sizes and the juicer attachment and it still works. I use it all the time. My Dad rewired it for me.

I really enjoyed that. I have to buy those little bundles of cookbooks, but I don’t cook. I take them apart to use in my junk journals. You’re making me rethink that decision. I’m very much enjoying your channel.❤️🇨🇦

That bundle of books is amazing, thank you for letting me live vicariously. I have had a fascination with cookbooks and especially mid-century American food since I learned to read and am relieved to know i am not alone. I have a boxed set of those Culinary Art Institute books. I must get them out of storage and see if they were Anglicised for a non-US audience. Hope you find another mystery bundle!

Good find on that, I probably paid $10 on my Cutco book alone. I have a few of the others in my collection too. Darn, now I want to shop for some more vintage cookbooks (even tho I told myself I'd stop when I hit 725 books/booklets!) Fun stuff!

Love those "cookbooks". That Cutco cookbook my momma had and she used it a lot. That was back in the 60's. I also used it in the 70's when I was a teenager and learning to cook. Those books bring back memories. This video got me to subscribe to ya. Your enjoyable to watch.

There was one that had some names of television celebs-like Ted Mack. That was Ted Mack's Amateur Hour. It was on tv when I was about five or six. I am almost 71. I always wanted to be on there. As the name states it was for amateurs, performers. And I dreamed of being on old Broadway. Probably some video about Ted Mack on TH-cam. ❤ your channel.

My mom and grandma both had the Cutco book, must be a ton of those still out there, and the company is still in existence. I'm thinking they bought steak knives from Cutco. I truly don't remember that cookbook getting used much, though. (My ex had a nice set of Cutco steak knives. I'm sure the first wife forgot to take them when she left, lol, and I do have one in my kitchen drawer. Oh yeah, they're keepers. Such a long time ago; both are deceased now). My mom and grandma also had the Sunbeam electric stand mixers and I remember Mom borrowing Grandma's attachable meat grinder when my dad had to have his teeth pulled when I was a kid. They also had the nice heavy stainless steel percolator type coffee pots. I've stumbled on percolators in thrift stores and have used them myself in the past. I just love all the older gadgets and the recipe books and those little flyers that came with some appliances or in the backs of some magazines (?) back in the day. I'm thinking seriously about heading out this next week to a big Antique Barn we have in Centerville, Ohio. Takes a long awhile to walk around in, and I don't buy much anymore, but like most people who go there, I love to explore those places, and it's sure been awhile. I do like these videos, you always spark comical memories from past years of my life for me. Thank you!

Grace Drayton was a famous illustrator from the early 20th century. She did draw the Campbell Kids, but she is even more famous for drawing Dolly Dingle, who appeared in many magazines in paper doll collections. Dover has reprinted some of these. I bet she illustrated that pamphlet, which makes that an even nicer find.

I have to admit I love looking at old cookbooks, the illustrations and the lifestyle they try to exemplify and how cultural views and ideas of good nutrition changed over the decades but I rarely make the recipes. 2 years ago I bought an entire set of Lifetime cookware from Abbey Anne's in Akron for a pittance and really embraced the method of pre-heating stainless cookware and using no grease or water, now that lowered my cholesterol blood viscosity but still very flavorful!

I have my mom's Culinary Arts Institute "Encyclopedia," which is a series of smaller booklets like the one you showed, in a binder from the company. Mine is from 1952, which is when she got engaged to my dad. They got married 70 years ago today.

My grandma used to make Tollhouse Cakes for birthdays. That was definitely worth $10. Ok, the TV guide booklet is cool! My mom-in-law said Bounty Pudding was in the late 50s - 60s. It came in a can ready to serve.

It looks like the were a division of Campbell and they also had other canned goods like Beef Stew. Maybe a precursor to "Chunky"?

My brother convinced me to make some sort of spam sandwich in our early adulthood, mainly because our mother forbid the use of spam in our family home! I’m not sure where I got the recipe, probably off the back of a spam container. It involved a lot of chopping, cheese and a can of soup of some kind, then put on a bun and baked in the oven. We expected a disaster, much to our surprise it was good! He even went back for seconds 💕

Funny you mention this - I just made something for a future video that sounds similar! It uses ham instead of Spam.

Oh yeah TV Guide! I subscribed to it for a bit. Yes, my grandparents also had a garden. Loved my Granny's zucchini bread 🍞 I love squash too!

There’s something so nostalgic about that TV Guide cover! I did not inherit my grandparents (or my mom’s) ability to make things grow in the garden unfortunately. 😂
