I strongly encourage my fellow overthinkers to tell their partners when they need reassurance! I don’t even always tell my husband what I’m worried about,especially if I think it’s probably not true; I just say “hey, I’m feeling a little insecure and I just need reassurance about how you feel about me “. Then he is able to spend a few minutes telling me that he loves me and cares about me, and it helps me feel better.
Gretchen, when you cried I cried. I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer 2 years ago. And was born with something called Spina Bifida, I’m in a wheelchair and can’t walk. I’ve had many surgeries and I feel like your talk about how we see ourselves is so relatable. We should see ourselves how our friends see us and how they build us up. I’m very extroverted but the insecurities are there. Thanks so much Sis, this specific question really hit home.

Regarding the “what are we” talk, I think it’s fair to bring it up after 2 months of talking to/hanging IN PERSON and actually getting to know each other. If you don’t know each other that well after 2 months, then I’d suggest not to bring it up just yet. If after a couple months of actually getting to know each other and they still aren’t sure about progressing things with you, to me it suggests a lack of interest and I’d continue to keep your options open.
