I almost got scammed on a local auction site. They had 2 S24 Ultras for auction, one was still in the box. The one that was opened, after I bid I decided to look closer at the photos. One photo was the phone information from the settings menu, which listed it as a Samsung Galaxy S24+ Ultra, having 64GB of storage. Fortunately for me, someone outbid me. Unfortunately for them, they paid over $350 for this horribly bootlegged phone.
I know a thing or two about these, and it's not an actual welcome. It's a "welcomised" goophone. So a 1:1ish clone, almost usable, made by the company called cye, with all of it's internal and external Samsung logos stripped away and welcome added.
As I look at this video and turn my S24U to the back, I'm still winding why Samsung made the violet S24U looks so boring and gray-ish while clone phones manage to be more saturated and, you know, VIOLET 😑

3:13 that spec list sound actually believable lol, for 90-100$ Xiaomi sells the A3 with similar specs. 720p screen, 4gb ram, 8/13 mp main camera, Mediatek Helio G36 chip (which is similar A53 cores to the MTK 6753 but fabbed on better node). It gives you a good idea of what phone components are becoming available in the junk component maket the question is are they new or scavenged from old phones broken down or new. The phone using decade-old DDR3 RAM is probably why you could not download Genshin Impact and why it stutters so much, they kneecaped their bet phone cheaping out on DDE3.
having ddr3 memory is not the reason why you can't start genshin. It's either the outdated os or "unsupported" cpu/gpu. Obviously ram speed plays a big role in terms of the performance as the system memory is shared with the gpu but having a decade old cpu is the bigger bottleneck 👻
Thankyou for your in depth review.. I was tossing up between getting this phone or replacing my LCD screen for my legitimate Samsung S21.. I think I will replace the screen. Do you have any experience with TFT screens?
I've run into issues with some cheap phones where the power button will not lock the device or even power it off. I'm using a "MaxWest" phone right now and by default, the power button brings up the google Assistant. There were 2 ways to shut the phone down though. You could A: Hold Volume up and power and it would bring up the power down options. Or you could swipe down to open your notifications bar, swipe down again to full screen the notifications, and at the bottom was a Power symbol you could press to turn the phone off. Such a stupid thing.
you should have used the e pen for the review also that easter egg is the android 8 one re-textured to say android 10 and then the 2nd part prevented somehow
If it wasn't for the wireless charging I would be using the A type Samsung phones (second phone is A and I wish samsung would put the fingerprint scanner in the power button like they do on some of the A/M phones) I do delivery's so the wireless charging doesn't really charge the phone (screen on gps/navigation/courier apps) just stops it from draining (usually get full day out of it with it closer to 20% by end of the night)
sometimes i woner if we can do something with this kind of bootleg phone for some pet project, might be cool to flex when everyone see i use "S24" for my random pet project
Sometimes clones make sense, like when territories ban the thing they're cloning. Good examples are the Super Gam* Boy and Aladdin Boy (SEGA Mega Drive, but the China and Korea versions from a time where China banned gaming as a whole and Korea banned Japanese technology) So for some these clones are the best way to experience... Well, not a similar experience, but it's definitely an experience I guess.
I know this may be a long shot, Are you up to looking into the Cheapest folding phone? The Blackview Hero 10 or the Nubia Flip. Both phones tbh look nice for sub 500 folding phones.
If you check back a few videos I actually reviewed the Nubia Flip :) As for the Blackview, they wanted me to review it but in a very short amount of time. Plus it doesn't have 5G and the Nubia Flip is the same price as it.
You can still buy receivers to do that on Chinese sites for a similar price, they just plug in to whatever port you might have and replace your standard wired charging.
I really do not understand who these phones are for?? Anyone who's remotely interested in a S24 ultra would know its fake...so why would they even buy this?? Theres no way they get this phone, see the issues and think, "can't wait for the next model!"

Depends on the company there is loss but some get closer to 15-20% now days but it does conduct a bunch of heat.. My old oneplus 9 pro charges at 50 watts wirelessly the supervooc wireless charger has a big fan in it to help keep the heat down.. I'm on that phone now and its only 3 years old and needed a battery swap.. Which I did.
Tbh, if they had slapped their own brand and actually made their own UI or used one of the free custom UIs from Play Store, this would be a OK budget phone
with these stylus pens you should test a diagonal line across the screen. on lower resolution tablet displays you can get a staircase effect because it seems like there are small touch zones where inputs are interpolated across them. i can definitely see this being a thing on these welcome phones since their screen resolution is often 720p or less
Samsung has a setting called tap to lock, all you have to do is double tap on an empty spot on the home screen. Maybe the welcome has the feature as well.
Well im so glad i waited to watch this video until i got back home to Greater Manchester I am absolutely gobsmacked. So much so that i couldn't write this until at least 12 hours later. It is a very honest Welcome device. Well as honest as you can get for a knockoff. Locking the phone was a bit funny. But you found alternatives bit it did eventually start working property. The grump old git in me is disgruntled to have basically nothing to whinge about. Well there are tiny bits to complain about but for the price they are not too bad. So phone does look good. The torch is ok or more actually adequate lol. The camera and video tests are also pretty decent. Some cracking photos take. The froggos look great and have a depth of colour that some phones don't have. The videos also look pretty great. Gutted about the massacre, hopefully super glue can save him. The Devine Ms Ripley is so bloody cute. I loved her playing through the window with your hand. It was adorable. Give her a cuddle from me and my 2 fluffy ones. The pen was somethibg i could not get my head around, i mean why have it if it barely works. But at this price range it is good enough. I agree seeing Genshin Impact on this would have been nice. Still you got some good games playing so some might like that. The speakers seemed to sound really nice too. Not a lot of distortion on the Doom track. Your own music sounded pretty crisp and clear. And it has stereo speakers. That's a "Welcome" bonus. 😂 TH-cam looked gorgeous and played pretty smoothly once you'd dropped to 720. Again clear and crisp picture and colours looked really good, well they did to me. I did really like the changer lol it just goes to show what the producers will do to con people lol. 😂 So overall a nice phone. Would i buy it? No! Well not for a daily driver but as a media player o don't mind losing when im out. So yes im still fairly gobsmacked but slowly recovering from this relatively honest "Welcome" device. A throughly enjoyable video to watch. ❤ After having watched the video again I'm still gobsmacked and I missed somethings out. The wireless charging is really awesome ( saying that I'm not too keen on it as I believe it's not very efficient compared to wired charging) and the fact that it is also magnetic. That's really fantastic at this price point and on a clone phone. The other thing I forgot to mention was just how quickly the video went. I mean it's just short of an hour yet seemed like minutes. The video just flowed perfectly 👌. As I'm watching again updating this I see I forgot the fancy box. It does look enticing and very eye catching. If I saw this in stores I would want to pick it up and read the specs. So great product marketing. 😅 It's a shame it's android 8.1 as that makes it unsafe for real use. But still could be good for use in the car connected to my 4g MIFI for using Google maps and playing music from streaming devices. I got the 4g as that's all I can get in the chalet until I can get a landline fitted in my chalet. ❤
I'm not sure why zte didnt add wireless charging but if we expect them to at least have 5 watt wireless charging of this Welcome phone, presumably the ZTE has a much larger battery that would take ages to charge on 5 watts.

It’s like Welcome got a bunch of random surplus phones from a few years back and then slapped their icky software on it and sold it as that
it would be awesome to watch you debloat one of those welcome phones and see what the stock ui looks like and how it feels then
with these stylus pens you should test a diagonal line across the screen. on lower resolution tablet displays you can get a staircase effect because it seems like there are small touch zones where inputs are interpolated across them. i can definitely see this being a thing on these welcome phones since their screen resolution is often 720p or less
This Welcome device , does better than any Alcatel Pixi
Analogy: My friends think I've got an S24 Ultra and that's all that really matters! 🤔😂
22:44 the video test is giving vertigo 🤮🤮🤮
Does double tap on home page lock the screen?
the names always get me!!!
very enjoyable video
The cat: How dare you record the evidence of my murder of keemstar!
The battery on this looks atrocious. I'm watching it go down by about 5 percent a minute!
Samsung has a setting called tap to lock, all you have to do is double tap on an empty spot on the home screen. Maybe the welcome has the feature as well.
Finally after ripping off their customers they could add wireless charging
I am wondering if there is a way to put up a custom android ROM that could maybe enhance the usage of the phone?
Ah welcome phorn
Well im so glad i waited to watch this video until i got back home to Greater Manchester
I am absolutely gobsmacked.
TH-cam looked gorgeous and played pretty smoothly once you'd dropped to 720. Again clear and crisp picture and colours looked really good, well they did to me.
I did really like the changer lol it just goes to show what the producers will do to con people lol. 😂
So overall a nice phone. Would i buy it? No! Well not for a daily driver but as a media player o don't mind losing when im out.
So yes im still fairly gobsmacked but slowly recovering from this relatively honest "Welcome" device.
A throughly enjoyable video to watch. ❤
After having watched the video again I'm still gobsmacked and I missed somethings out.
It's a shame it's android 8.1 as that makes it unsafe for real use.
But still could be good for use in the car connected to my 4g MIFI for using Google maps and playing music from streaming devices.
I got the 4g as that's all I can get in the chalet until I can get a landline fitted in my chalet. ❤
this one is dangerous. i can see peopl falling for it
i noticed at 15:02 it says kernel version is 3.18 but after you go off of it, on kernel version it says 5.10
That kernel version is so old lolol
For a Welcome Device is this thing good. I wish a better SoC for this price, a mediathek g85 or t712/716. This is to a potato......
Camera isn't actually bad...crazy
Always love the cat :)
Believe me with my S23 ultra, the lock screen option is on the notification sliders unless you turn Bixby off
Thought it was funny you knew the emergency number and you hummed it out
At this rate, these generics have more good qualities than real phones at the same price range.
Damn
This thing would probably turn into a hezbollah pager if you tried to run genshin on it, considering its geekbench score
Does it actually charge wirelessly or does it just detect it and not actually do anything.
Jump to the teardown to see it.
I live for the Ripley segments.
Correct!
Test and price/value ratio
I'm not sure why zte didnt add wireless charging but if we expect them to at least have 5 watt wireless charging of this Welcome phone, presumably the ZTE has a much larger battery that would take ages to charge on 5 watts.
i only watch this channel bcs you are Australian and i love Aussie accent
The Mediatek CPU is the main character here.
Maybe next time Anbernic RG Cube?
There one thing u guys dodnt saw... When Smoorez get back EPen into phone, it draws inside out a lil baby line.... :D
your cat is adorable
10:38 Yoo I guess That's It
